Salutations to the noble and firm adjudicators, precise time keeper, my outstanding opponents and members of the floor.

The motion of today's debate is that Sports Incentives Improves Students' Performance at School and as the government team, !e strongly support and stand by the motion !hich !e have put forth. 1. Academics/ Other incentives should be given instead of sports incentives "hen I'm talking about sports incentives here, I'm referring to the use of the incentives as money. These money can be changed into scholarship form and help those interested in sports. #o you reali$e there are constantly re!ards and scholarships to those e%cel in their academics& If you do, then you kno! that the incentives given by the government or private organi$ations are overrated. 'ou could easily spot an academic scholarships on the street !orld!ide. (ut !hat about sports scholarship& )aybe * out of +, scholarships& "hy shouldnt those !ho are talented in sports be given a chance& -ook at our o!n national hero -ee .hong "ei !ho made our country famous through his talent in sports. If there !ere more sports scholarships, more budding talents can be identified. I hope the opposition reali$e that there are students out there !ho are better in sports than in studies. 2. Students excel in sports are the minority instead academic is the majority. /re you going to leave out the minority then& The minority !ho made a difference& /gain, let me take )alaysia as an e%ample. /re any of our universities or students the Top *, in the !orld& /fraid not. 0o!ever, our very o!n #ato' 1icol /nn #avid !as and still is 1umber * in the !orld in s2uash. She did !ell for her SP) scoring 3/s. This sho!s that there are people out there !ho are better at sports than studies. So !hat is the majority accounted for !hen the minority are the one making differences& 3. Academic can bring us further in life so incentives should be focused in that arena. "hat the 4.. speaker said is very subjective. "hat do she5he means by bringing one further in life& To some it may be the amount he earn but to the other maybe happiness. 0o!ever, generally, !hat brings us furthest in life is our health. "hat is !ealth !ithout health& (ut by being active in sports, you are promoting a healthy lifestyle as you are constantly e%ercising. 'ou may think that !hat I said does not concern the motion today. 0o!ever, you think of it this !ay. / habit must be planted !ithin an individual since his childhood days. "hy& (ecause kids are the easiest to mould. /nd !hen such opportunity like sports scholarship come about, they become more competetive and practice harder. In other !ords, their also e%ercising. So ho! is this not promoting health& !."f parents are not supportive of their children getting involved in sports then the incentives are just redundant for the students. #hey $ould not be able to improve their performance. "hether the parent of the individual supports his child does not concern the motion today. 6ven if other types of incentives are given, the child still !ould not be able to enjoy the privillage as their parents are set in a certain mentality. 0o!ever, the presence of sports incentives are still vital as there are others out there !ho are just !aiting for the golden opportunity to receive the incenitves. "hether it is directly linked to them such as scholarships or indirectly as !ell. 7or e%ample, the incentives are being used to upgrade school sporting fascilities such as mantaining all the e2uipments in the sports store room.

%.#here $ere less sports incentives those days but still produced $orld class sportsmen. #his sho$s that incentives are not needed to identify talents. If this is !hat you think of, then I suggest the opposition party take their chairs and come on over to our side. /s they said, those days, sports incentives !ere nearly invincible but !orld class sportsmen from different countries !ere still produced. This sho!s that *8 of effort can produce a +,8 result. #oesnt this sho! that if there !ere more sports incentives, there !ill be more national sportsmen produced& This comes to sho! that sports incentives !ill increase the number of talents. 9If they say out of topic, they brought it up first: &. 'ot necessarily sports incentives improve the students( performance in school. "t is the drive and $illingness of the student to ma)e a change. "hat is the drive then& "hat caused them to make the change& ;emember, the government's motion today is that sports incentives improves students' performance at school. 0ence, all our rebuttals and points come back to our motion for today. In our case, sports incentives IS the drive. "hen there is a re!ard, humankind tend to be more competetive as they feel the urge to !in according to a research done by #r. ;o!land 0ur!insky for ;eader's #igest.
