Speaker Setup
The subwoofer requires an AC power connection (do not plug it until setup is completed). All five satellite speakers and the display module connect to the subwoofer, which provides the power for all channels. Set up the speakers as follows: 1. Place the satellite speakers around the area where you will be sitting (See Diagram 1). Because of the exclusive OMNIPOLAR speaker technology found in the satellite speakers, you have a greater amount of flexibility in speaker placement. Please use the following guidelines only as a reference. 2. The center speaker should be directly above or below your TV or monitor (the satellites are magnetically shielded to prevent picture interference). Place the left and right front speakers to either side and equidistant from the screen. Place the surround (rear) speakers to the left and right and slightly behind the seating area and facing in toward it. If possible, all five satellites should be about the same distance from the seating area. 3. The subwoofer can go virtually anywhere that is convenient, but we recommend placing it in the front soundstage of your system and, if possible, against a wall or in a corner. 4. Using the five supplied speaker cables, connect the outputs on the back of the subwoofer to the matching satellites. WARNING: DO NOT TO PLUG THESE CABLES INTO THE COAX IN or ANALOG IN CONNECTIONS. 5. Using the supplied multi-pin DIN cable, connect the DIN output on the back of the system control module to the DIN input on the back of the subwoofer.

Balancing the Speakers

Once the speakers are connected to the rest of the system it is time to calibrate the speakers for optimal Surround Sound. You can use your ears to balance the volume levels of all of the speakers for your room and listening position. When all of the speakers are set at the same volume level, your system will create a more realistic, spacious surround sound environment. You will be using the remote control for this procedure: 1. Make sure the system is plugged into the wall outlet and the power switch on the back of the subwoofer is in the 'ON' position. 2. Verify that the IR Receiver box is illuminated. (If not, hit the PWR button on the remote control.) 3. Sit in the position that you will be playing games or watching movies and eliminate as many external noises as possible 4. Press the TEST button on the remote control to begin the test tone function. You should hear a 'static' noise travel around the room. 5. Using the Left Front Speaker as a reference, use the 'LEVEL +/- buttons on the remote control to calibrate all of the other speakers in the system to the same volume. 6. Hit the TEST button to exit the speaker balancing

Speaker level adjustment without TEST TONE: Channel level adjustments for Center, Rear and Subwoofer are available at any time by pressing the 'CTR', 'SURR' or SUB Buttons on the remote control.

Signal Input Connections

The Xbox 5.1 has five audio inputs: two Toslink optical digital, one coaxial digital, and one stereo analog. Use these inputs to connect audio sources, such as Xbox, DVD player, CD player, portable media player, computer sound card, or TV set. When feasible, use a digital input to allow for Dolby Digital and DTS playback. Important Note: Each input demands a particular type of cable and a matching output on the source component. The optical digital input requires a Toslink fiber-optic cable. The coaxial digital input requires a coaxial cable with RCA plugs on each end. To ensure reliable operation, use a cable labeled for video or digital audio connections. The stereo analog input requires a pair of ordinary shielded audio cables with RCA plugs on each end. If you are connecting the analog inputs to a device that has a minijack output, use the supplied miniplug-to-RCA adaptor. Note on In-Game Dolby Digital: To experience your game in true 5.1 surround sound you must: 1. Confirm that the game has this capability. Please check the back of the game carton or contact the manufacturer of the game to confirm this feature. 2. Enable the Dolby Digital and DTS function on your console. Spherex Optimization Setting
The Xbox 5.1 offers a Spherex Optimization adjustment function that will adjust the speakers' level to achieve the optimal sound depending on your listening position. Pressing the Reset Button will enter the Spherex Optimization adjustment mode. When you press the 'FRONT', 'REAR', 'LEFT', 'RIGHT' button on the remote control, the sound will be shifted in these directions. For Example: When the sound field is shifted forward from the center position by pressing the FRONT button, the volume level of the front speakers will be raised but the volume level of the rear speakers will be lowered. The display will show the new sound field position, such as 'N1' and then 'E0', indicating the new sound field position is shifted one step north and zero horizontal movement. To return to the original setting, just turn the control on again and adjust the level until the display shows 'N0' and then 'E0' or press the 'RESET' button.

2.1 Channel Stereo Mode Available for analog and stereo digital signals. It reproduces the stereo signal to the front left, right speakers and subwoofer without any processing to the audio signals. Available for analog and stereo digital signals. It redistributes a stereo signal across the five satellite speakers to give very broad, even coverage. All five satellites and the subwoofer are active. Available for analog and stereo digital signals. Pressing the PLII button will enable Dolby Pro-Logic II Mode. This mode provides accurate decoding of Dolby Surround encoded signals and provides natural, realistic five-channel enhancement of stereo signals. All five satellites and the subwoofer are active. Dolby Pro-Logic II has two sub-modes: Movie (Green LED) - Select for sources that have been encoded in Dolby Surround and Dolby Pro Logic II. This includes many games, TV programs, and movies on video. Music (Red LED) - This mode is especially appropriate for stereo music, to which it adds a very appealing sense of spaciousness and depth. During the headphone mode, the Xbox 5.1 will mute the speakers and output the signal to your headphones. Dynamic compression reduces the level difference between loud and soft sounds. This can be useful when you are having trouble hearing dialogue clearly or when you want to minimize disturbance of others by very loud sounds. (Compatible with Dolby Digital Encoded DVD's only) When the Test Tone Mode is on, the Xbox 5.1 will generate pink noise on each speaker in a sequential manner. You can use this feature to verify the speakers' connections and their performance. During the Test Tone Mode, use the 'Level +/-' key to adjust the speaker's relative level to achieve the best audio performance.
