THANKSGIVINGADOPTING THE GRATITUDE ATTITUDE

Americas Thanksgiving tradition is a time to focus on God and His blessings on us and on our nation. Our Pilgrim forbearers faced difficult times in the year before their first Thanksgiving in America. Nevertheless, they found reasons to praise God for their survival in a brutal wilderness. From the very earliest beginning of our great nation, pausing to express our gratitude to Almighty God has been one of our founding traits. Our first President, George Washington, issued a proclamation in 1789 choosing Thursday, November 26th as a national time to express "sincere and humble thanks." Once again in 1863, President Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving an official national holiday to be celebrated and commemorated every year on the fourth Thursday of November. In his Thanksgiving Proclamation, President Lincoln said: "It has seemed to me fit and proper that they (God's gifts) should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged with one heart and one voice by the whole American people. I do, therefore, invite my fellow citizens...to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens." Truly, Thanksgiving is an American holiday in every way, setting aside a time to pause and thank God for all He's done for us both as a nation and as individuals. America is facing many challenges today, and seems to be tested as never before. Yet, we are truly blessed. God has given to each of us blessings that many others across the globe are not afforded--life, true liberty, and freedom to worship God and live the life we feel He wants us to live. This morning our church family will observe the Lords Supper during the Sunday Morning service. This is a time to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for our salvation. The Lords Supper is NOT a means of obtaining Gods grace. It is a church ordinance that pictures how we receive His forgiveness of sin. Its an appropriate time to reflect upon our own lives, and repent of any sin.

During the Fall & Winter months when our church does not have organized soul winning, our church family is encouraged to TAKE FIVE Gospel tracts and distribute them throughout the week.

The Pastor is happy to hear from you. He can be reached at the church offices at (724) 282-2494 extension 5. His personal email is offices@VisitNTBC.com. Although the Pastor guards his time at home with his family, he would rather you contact him at his home, (724) 283-1464, than for him to be unaware of your emergency, or personal need. The Pastors cell phone number is (724) 496-1003.

BUILDING PROJECT NEED

After a recent inspection of our roof, it was apparent that the churchs roof needed work. There are some areas of our roof that need immediate attention. Our church will need approximately $22,000 to re-roof the church (not the new addition). Funds have already been received in the amount of $10,000 for this project. We need to raise the remaining $12,000 by the end of December. You can designate your financial gift on our giving envelopes by using the BUILDING FUND box.

Thank you for choosing to worship at the New Testament Baptist Church of Butler. Our prayer is that your heart will be stirred for the eternal as we sing songs & hymns that direct your heart toward Christ and challenge you through the preaching of Gods Word. There are friendly people at our Welcome Center in the lobby who will gladly assist you with any questions you may have during your visit. Allow us to make you feel at home during your visit. Firsttime adult visitors and families are asked to visit our Welcome Center to receive a hospitality bag with a gift card to Chick-fil-A.
