Music (Higher)
In this course pupils have the opportunity to develop breadth and overall musicianship as performers, composers and listeners. There are two options within Higher Music Music: Performing Music: Performing with Technology Music:Performing Course assessment is based upon two components: A uestion paper lasting ! hour which tests "nowledge and understanding of musical concepts and musical literacy, and has a total of 40 marks available. A practical performance, assessed by a visiting e#aminer and with a total of 60 marks available. Instrument ! $ 30 marks, and Instrument % $ 30 marks. &upils are re uired to prepare a performance programme lasting 0 minutes on Instrument !, of which 6 minutes will be assessed by the visiting e#aminer. They are also re uired to prepare a performance programme lasting ! minutes on Instrument %, of which 3 minutes will be assessed by the visiting e#aminer.
'A( assessments in &erforming, Inventing and )istening must also be passed for award of the complete course. The programme must contain at least % contrasting pieces. A stereo master recording of two pieces, lasting 6 minutes in total, and supported by a session log.
