Test battery life and strength with a battery multimeter. Nickel-cadmium (NiCad rechargeable batteries build u! a dendrite crystal substance with continual use and recharging. Howe#er, you can restore the battery life (also known as battery charge memory by remo#ing the dendrite crystals with an electric current.

, Test the battery with a multimeter to be sure it is com!letely charged. -ou will need to connect the clam!s on the charger to the terminals on the battery. Be sure you ha#e charged it to its full ca!acity before testing it with the charger. .f the battery has no life left, it will not work after a full night of charging.

/ 0ut on safety goggles, a long-slee#ed shirt and glo#es. Connect the black clam! from the trickle charger to the negati#e terminal on the battery. Connect the red clam! from the trickle charger to the !ositi#e terminal on the battery. Hold the clam!s to the battery for one to three seconds only.

* 1se the multimeter to test the battery charge. .f the battery is not fully charged, re!eat the !rocess to remo#e more dendrite crystals. -ou may ha#e to re!eat the !rocess two to three times if the battery is com!letely dead, but do not hold the trickle charger to the battery for more than a few seconds because it can be e&tremely dangerous (electrocution can result .
