Restaurant Manager Job Description

Objective: To train all Restaurant staff to represent the highest standard of excellence in welcomes and guest service, and set forth an outstanding example of. Reports to: General Manager

Specific Expectations: The primary purpose of the position is to perform all duties within the restaurant at an exceptional level, in order to properly train new employees of such standards. The Restaurant Manager must be willing to work as a hands-on employee in all areas as necessary. The Restaurant Manager will help minimize the costs of operating the Restaurant while maximizing revenue while enhancing and maintaining superior customer service. The Restaurant Manager will communicate effectively with all other Managers within his or her own Canad Inns facility. The Restaurant Manager will assist in creating annual budgets for the Restaurant revenue, plus related expenses, and the implementation and maintenance of up-selling and incentive programs. The Restaurant Manager will coordinate the recruitment, selection and orientation activities of all Restaurant employees. The Restaurant Manager will settle disputes and establish positive morale. The Restaurant Manager will ensure team members understand and are trained in all security prevention methods. The Restaurant Manager will ensure time sheets are completed in an orderly and timely fashion. The Restaurant Manager will participate in a monthly inspection of furniture, fixtures and equipment with the Maintenance Manager and Assistant General Manager. Opening Duties: 1. Perform a daily Managers walk-through of the restaurant, to ensure cleanliness and overall appearance of the Restaurant. 2. Check the management and the staff communications books for any pertinent issues or concerns that require immediate attention, concerning the impact of daily duties; 3. Confirm reservations and special requests, and ensure team members are prepared for the daily duties with exceptional guest service;

4. Check schedules and confirm that scheduled employees are present and accounted for; 5. Perform a daily Managers walk-through of the restaurant, to ensure cleanliness and overall appearance of the Restaurant. Shift Duties: Ensure all team members have the necessary tools and equipment to perform his or her jobs efficiently; Oversee restaurant operations to ensure employees are performing jobs to the established standards as set by management; Maintain a presence on the floor of the restaurant and kitchen, assisting in different areas as needed; Assist with every position in the Restaurant as required in order for the shift to run efficiently; Ensure Servers and other staff are motivated to perform duties to the highest level of excellence; Lead, coach, encourage, inspire, train and motivate employees as necessary; Respond to guest inquiries, concerns and complaints. Closing Duties: 1. Provide shift sales readings to Host/Hostess/Cashiers so they can cash-out; 2. Ensure all shift personnel have signed out; 3. Leave any pertinent information in the daily logbook and the management and staff communications binder. Qualifications: Articulately communicates both verbally and in writing; Available to work full-time hours; Background in serving and exceptional guest service, at least three years experience; Can acquire Criminal Background Check and Serve it Safe certificate; Clean, with good hygiene habits;

Detail-oriented; Demonstrated leadership skills; Enjoys meeting and talking with different people; Exceptional leadership skills; Experience with POS systems; Extroverted personality; Knowledge of restaurant and hotel procedures, plus liquor and labour costing, inventory controls and staff management; Multi-tasks and delegates efficiently; Organized, accurate and reliable; Positive and upbeat attitude and demeanour; Professional attitude and expectations; Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently; Strong mathematics and basic computer skills; Works with the public in a calm, courteous, friendly and professional manner.

Supplies & Equipment: 1. Clean and pressed business uniform with nametag and Canad pin 2. Corkscrew 3. Notepad and Pens

Workplace Abilities: Bend and stretch frequently; Deal with loud noises, large crowds and potentially upset guests; Handle a fast-paced environment that is often stressful;

Lift, balance and carry trays of up to 20 lbs during your shift; Operate a cash register and all processes of payment; Stand, walk and remain on feet and perform job duties during your shift; Work quickly and quietly.

All job descriptions are subject to a periodic review. Other duties will be assigned occasionally by management. Changes will be discussed prior to or at the time of amendment.
