Introduction
Welcome to the CEM Configuration Test Manual for Sensor dimming systems. This manuals contains instructions for performing CEM selftests on all Sensor dimming systems using CEM software version 3.0 or later.
Note: If your CEM operating software is an earlier version than 3.0, please contact ETC Technical Services at (+1) 800-775-4382 to obtain an older version of this manual.
Instructions for Basic tests begin on page 6. Instructions for Advanced tests begin on page 12.
Contacting ETC
If you have questions about Sensor CEM Configuration tests, contact: ETC Technical Service 3030 Laura Lane Middleton, WI. USA. 53572 Tel: (+1) 800 775 4382 or Fax: (+1) 608 836 1736
Caution
Basic tests 1 through 9 do not change configuration information stored in CEM memory. Basic tests can be run without fear of system configuration damage.
Note: Some Basic tests set or cycle dimmer outputs. This can interfere with normal DMX512 dimming while the test runs.
M
Advanced tests, number 10 through 43, are intended for use only by factory-trained ETC Field Service technicians. In some cases, these tests may result in damage to your system configuration; running them may require complete reprogramming of your system.
Caution
Do not initiate Advanced CEM tests unless advised to do so by ETC Technical Services at 800/775-4382 or an Authorized ETC representative.

To enter Advanced Test mode, press [Reset] while holding down [Dimmer]. Continue to hold [Dimmer] until the following two messages display on the CEMs LCD (this will take between 4-5 seconds). The first message signals that the CEM is in Basic test mode. If you continue to hold down [Dimmer] it will be quickly (within one second) followed by the Advanced test message. When the Advanced test message displays, you have access to both Basic (tests 1-9) and Advanced (tests 10-43) CEM diagnostic tests.
Note: In Advanced Test Mode, the CEM airflow sensor is disabled. It will automatically enable when you leave the CEM test mode.
Now, in addition to Basic tests 1- 9, you have access to Advanced tests 10-43. Press [ ] or [ ] to scroll through the list of tests, or go directly to the test you want to run by entering the two digit self test number and pressing [Enter]. (For example, to select test 14, EEROM Test, press [1] [4] [Enter].)

19
Note: The CEM will not function properly with the Fido Collar (ECEM-J5, CEM-J20) jumper removed. It will not reset in response to power supply noise.
When this test starts the processor external watchdog circuit is temporarily disabled. If the test does not detect an error in the external watchdog circuit, the CEM restarts automatically within two seconds. If there is a problem, it will not restart. In this event, call ETC Technical Services at 800/775-4382.
Use [ ] or [ ] or, press [3] [8] to select the test, then press [Enter] to start the test. The following message appears on the CEM LCD:
