Operating activities In 2010, there is very sharp increase in cash from operating activities because of the following reasons

1. Current liabilities and provisions are more compared to currents assets and so there is net increase in cash. 2. Depreciation amount is more as there is purchase of fixed assets and hence when added back has increased the net cash from operations.

Investing activities

Operating activites of Tata Motors compared to Mahindra 1. Mahindras operating activites are less compared to Tata Motors which says that Tata Motors are investing more in fixed assets and hence their depreciation amount might be more. 2. Tata motors might be selling their assets on loss and hence these are added back 3. Tata Motors might have taken more loan hence interest charges are huge which is increasing the net flow from operating activities

4. Trade receivables and inventories are more of Mahindra and hence there is more cash tied up in business which is affecting the net cash flow from operating activities. 5. There is increase in Current Liabilities by Rs. 5530.82 in Tata Motors than Mahindra whose liabilities have increased by Rs. 1632.06 because of which overall operating activities of Tata Motors have increased Investing activities of Tata Motors compared to Mahindra 1. Investing activities of Tata Motors is positive which shows that Tata Motors have not invested more than its sale hence inflow of cash which shows that company wants to save some money to meet its short term liability. 2. Mahindra has invested heavily which shows that company wants to earn more income rather than keeping the cash balance idle. 3. Mahindra must have purchased assets heavily which shows signs of expansion of business.

Financing activities of Tata Motors compared to Mahindra 1. Tata Motors have repaid almost half of their unsecured loans and some part of secured loan hence the amount of cash flow from financing activity is negative. Mahindra is also having negative balance but is very less compared to Tata Motors. 2. Tata Motors have paid Equity dividends and corporate dividend tax because of which cash from financing activity is negative and they have made these more than Mahindra

Operating activities of Tata Motors compared to Hero Motorcorp

1. Hero Motorcorps operating activites are less compared to Tata Motors which says that Tata Motors are investing more in fixed assets and hence their depreciation amount might be more. 2. Tata motors might be selling their assets on loss and hence these are added back 3. Tata Motors might have taken more loan hence interest charges are huge which is added to net profit and increasing the operating cash balance. 4. Trade receivables and inventories are more of Mahindra and hence there is more cash tied up in business which is affecting the net cash flow from operating activities. 5. There is increase in Current Liabilities by Rs. 5530.82 in Tata Motors than Mahindra whose liabilities have increased by Rs. 1632.06 because of which overall operating activities of Tata Motors have increased Investing activities of Tata Motors compared to Hero Motocorp 1. The investing activities of both the companies is in positive which shows that both the companies have sold their investments more than the purchase in the current year in order to reserve some cash balance to meet short term liability or contingencies 2. Also there is possibility that companies have sold their fixed assets which has generated cash.

Financing activities of Tata Motors compared to Hero Motocorp 1. Financing activity of Tata Motors is -4235.59 whereas of Hero Motocorp its -2458.16 which shows that both

companies have used its funds to pay off its debts which can be seen as Secured debts of Tata Motors have reduced to 6,915.77 and of Hero Motorcorp it has reduced to 994.85, again Unsecured loans have reduced to 4095.86 and incase of Hero Motorcorp it has reduced to 0 2. Interest, equity dividend and corporate tax was paid by both companies which has led to cash outflow

Operating activities of Tata Motors compared to Maruti Suzuki India 1. Operating profit of Maruti Suzuki is less as compared to Tata Motors this may be as Tata Motors are investing more in fixed assets and so depreciation amount is high. 2. Tata motors might be selling their assets on loss and hence these are added back 3. Tata Motors might have taken more loans hence interest charges which are huge are added back to net profit increasing the cash from operating activities.
