Circulating Water System The circulating water system is an open system providing a continuous supply of cooling water to the condenser. Four 25 percent capacity circulating water pumps in the water intake structure suck water from the Gulf of Mexico into the condenser and discharge it back into the sea via Laguna Salada. The construction of a channel in the Laguna Salada ensures the discharged water will have a minimal effect on the temperature of sea water.
