OVERVIEW
A2LP is rewarding in a way that other classes cannot possibly be. The program allows you to learn while also helping others learn, too. I dont know which surprises me more: the amount of Spanish my students have picked up, or how much Ive improved as a teacher and even as a Spanish speaker. Im not pursuing teaching as a profession and Im not even a Spanish major, but A2LP has still been very valuable. public speaking and presentation skills, and Ive made a positive impact in the academic lives of young students. upon your arrival. PROGRAM
Those interested in receiving Spanish department credits for participation in A2LP may register, for one semester only, in SPAN 448, an internship course, for 3 credits. Generally, SPAN 448 is only an option for the second semester of participation in A2LP. This requires permission from Dr. Maria Coolican, who will determine your eligibility for 400 level Spanish credit. You may not take this course unless you are working at the 300- or 400-level in the Spanish department.

EVENT & CALENDAR

As previously mentioned, the A2LP program will run only September to April in 2013-2014. You will not be required to teach during U-Ms Fall or Spring Breaks, and teaching will end a week before exams begin each semester. Otherwise, you are required to teach if the schools are in session. If you are physically unable to teach, your classmates, just as professional classroom teachers do. There are very few acceptable excuses for not showing up to teach.
