Dear Readers, Sometimes its hard for those who provide help to the community to ask for it themselves. That begins to explain the reason behind our Catalog of Giving, a compendium of tangible items needed by 71 nonprofit institutions in the Mid-Willamette Valley. We asked the agencies to provide us with wish-list items that could be purchased by individuals, families, neighborhood associations, work colleagues, civic clubs, faith communities and businesses. We insisted that the items be tangible, something the donor could deliver directly to the nonprofit. Donations by check are always welcomed, but we wanted to create a more direct experience with the catalog. Our hope is that each fulfilled request will cause a celebration at the nonprofit, a moment of shared joy for the giver

Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties
Its mission is to inspire and enable all youth grades1-12 to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens through the development of a positive self image and self reliance. The club provides positive, guidance-oriented activities to over 11,300 youth each year through eight dedicated youth facilities, a health services center and community athletic leagues. Brings hope and health to our community by providing quality, compassionate health care at no cost to the uninsured as an expression of Christs love. With more than 400 volunteers, we provide medical, dental and mental health services to more than 600 patients a month.

Since 1992, SMART has been pairing caring, adult volunteers with children in need of reading support and books to take home and keep. SMART volunteers read one-on-one with students weekly during the school year.

Women at the Well Grace House

A faith-based transitional shelter for homeless, disadvantaged, single women without dependants, serving up to 20 women per year. Length of stay is six months. We provide life skills classes, mentors, support, grace and hope and three nutritional meals a day. Grace House empowers women to live a selfsufficient life style.
