Borins, M. (2000). Go Away: Just for the health of it. Toronto: Wholistic Press. The author, Dr. Mel Borins explains in this book why vacations are necessary to maintain good health. He also talks about the effects vacations have in transforming individuals and families. The book is essentially divided into two parts. In the first half of the book the author talks about travelling and how vacations can help a persons physical and mental health by being away from daily routine. It also talks about what motivates people to travel, how it reaffirms lifes choices. Second half contains travel articles to record writers experience and to encourage the readers.

Gini, A. (2003). The Importance of being lazy: In praise of play, leisure and vacation. New York, NY: Routledge. In the chapter Vacations and Travelling of this book, the author suggests that vacations should be a necessity. He also talks about how people go to vacations but still fails to enjoy the full benefits of it. The book in general talks about how even though it is in peoples nature to work, they also desire and need not to work. And the author explains through seven chapters how it can be done.

Dissertation

Nawijn, J. (2012). Leisure, Travel and Happiness: An empirical study into the effect of holiday trips on individuals subjective wellbeing (Doctoral Dissertation). Available from RePub (Erasmus University Repository). In this book the author shows the readers the relation between holiday trips and an individuals health and well being. In the chapter titled he provides different views on happiness, quality of

life and leisure. He then goes on showing research data about leisure and happiness. In the following chapter he discusses the after effect of vacation on an individual and what the effect is and how long it lasts after a vacation, introducing the term the holiday happiness curve.

http://psychcentral.com This article is about all the different effects stress can have on an individual. It shows the reader that along with the commonly known effects of stress, it can also show cognitive, emotional and behavioral signs of changes.

In this article the authors talk about how health and well being develop during and after a long summer vacation. They also investigate whether changes in health due to vacation relate to vacation activities and experience. The other important aspect of this article is whether the change during and after vacation relate to sleep.

Here the writer talks about the reasons one cannot go on vacation and the health benefits of vacation. The writer backs up his article with various research data on how vacation is beneficial. He concludes the article suggesting the reader to seriously consider taking vacations.

This 1963 song talks about the perfect summer holiday. The singer sings about peoples desire of going on summer vacation and expresses his own desire to leave work and go on a holiday.

The song by English indie rock band speaks about a typical day of a working man. It talks about how the time flies with the same routine and how desperately in need of vacation one can be.

Motion picture

Wyler, W. (Director). (1953). Roman Holiday. United States: Paramount Pictures.

This 1953 romantic comedy film is about a Princess Ann and her short escape from royal life which she finds suffocating enough to cause a mental breakdown at the beginning of the film. This makes her desperate enough to escape during her royal visit in Rome and she meets an American reporter called Joe Bradley. She fakes her identity calling herself as Anya Smith to try to lead a normal life for a few days, dancing and roaming around, things she couldnt have done as a princess. The movie ends with Anns return to her royal team, after enjoying whatever little carefree time she had.
