Beginning with the empty Stedelijk Museum and dismantled Carr Theatre, he photographed these dignified spaces in transition, temporarily hidden from public view, and rehabilitated the grand history of the buildings. Although the new interiors and edifices may be impressive, it is always the relationship with that former view which gives them depth and context.
