SAMPLE ANSWER FOR A REPORT ON AN ENGLISH CAMP ( PERAK PMR TRIAL EXAM 2012 )

THE ENGLISH CAMP During the last school holiday, I attended an English Camp organised by the English Language Society at SMK Pinji, Ipoh. Sixty participants, selected from the Form Three students, took part in the 2-day camp supervised by 12 English teachers. The teachers were assisted by 10 committee members who were mostly the fourth formers. All the participants gathered at the school hall for registration at about 8. 00 a.m. on Saturday. Various activities were held at the camp including a talent show, language games, drama and treasure hunt. The camp took off on the first day with a talent show. The participants were given the opportunity to show off their talent in singing and traditional dancing. There was also a colourful fashion show depicting the various traditional costumes of some ethnic groups in Malaysia. It was great fun. Later that day we played some language games namely Taboo and Boggles. For the games we were divided into teams and worked together to score the points for the team. The activities definitely improved our vocabulary. We learnt a lot of new words in a fun and enjoyable way. The first day of camp ended at 5.30 pm. The next day began at 8.00 with a second registration followed by an intensive workshop on how to write scripts for a short drama. For this activity we were again put into groups consisting of 5 to 6 people. The theme for the drama was Oh My English! and the groups were given the freedom to create their own plot for the drama. We were given two hours to write the script and prepare the props for the drama presentation. It was hard work to prepare everything within a short period of time. The acting part was even harder but we had great fun. It certainly built up our confidence in using the language. The second day ended with a treasure hunt. I enjoyed this activity the most because it was extremely challenging. In order to find the treasure, we had to look for clues by solving some riddles. In order to do this, we had to use our intelligence and general knowledge. It helped to have some bright students in your group. We also had to study the given map to locate the subsequent clues that led us to the treasure. The treasure was a key that could open a safe box that contained cash prizes. We thoroughly enjoyed the activity and our prize money. These activities have definitely proven to us that learning English can be a lot of fun. I hope to attend many more similar camps in the future. Prepared by : Hermoine Granger Form 3 representative
