HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Hosea 10-12; Revelation 3 Monday, December 9 Isa. 44:3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring: Help Me, Lord! My soul is in the dust over friends and family who are not saved. Pour out your spirit on them this Christmas season! I know they are thirsty for your grace. Will you not give me the blessing of begetting spiritual offspring? Fear of hell will not bring them to God. Religious legalism will not save their seeking souls. Open their ears to the sweet wooing of your word about your love. Let them see it on the cross. Then let them see it in me! Make __________ and __________ thirsty for the living God, and unhappy because they have not found him. If they lose the ecstasy of their apathy and the pleasure of their pathetic condition, then maybe they will listen with more interest as I explain the good news of the gospel. I am so aware when I am barren. Like the dry ground, I lament I am not bringing forth more fruit unto you, O Lord! I am not as useful to my church as I should be. I am not as available to its ministries as I could be. I am not as present in worship and praise, and you have a right to expect that I would be. Pour water on me, Lord! Give me grace, because I require it. Anoint me with fresh oil for serving you and fresh filling for witnessing to others! Make me fruitful in my discipleship, and fruitful in my walk. Drench me with opportunity to proclaim the word of your grace. Then I will trust the buds will spring forth, the flowers will open, and the fruit will ripen. I know I can count on your word to do the work, if only I will let your Spirit have control. Make me trust in you more and more so my faith honors and glorifies Christ. I ask it in Jesus name. Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Amos 1-3; Revelation 6 Thursday, December 12 Luke 1:26-27 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgins name was Mary. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Hosea 13-14; Revelation 4 Tuesday, December 10 Luke 17:12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: Merciful Savior: What sights you must see as you look at our sin-sick city! The sad thing is we never recognize nine-tenths of your merciful response to our plight. Oh Lord, give me the frankincense of gratitude. Let my life-reactions distill into dew-drops of praise. Do not let me become dried-out of thankfulness to you. One day in seven is devoted to your worship, but not one person in ten is really devoted to your praise. What is up with that, Lord? There are many more who receive benefits than ever give you praise for them. Shame on us! Life, health, eyesight, hearing, love, friendshipsand yet is there one time in ten I praise you for these? Lam. 3:22-23 It is of the LORDS mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. I do not praise you Lord, either fitly, proportionately, or intensely enough. I receive a continual stream of mercies and yet can only whine about my inconveniences! The number of my prayers is far greater than the number of times I really praise. Why must I wait for a miracle before I praise you? One would think every time I pray I would also praise, but it is not so. My requests are often so petty and selfishsilly stuff. I pray when I think Im about to die, but then you deliver me, and my praise is what grows sick unto death. Prayer is for time, but praise is for eternity. I know I need both, but praise really deserves the highest and best place. Prayer is for the beggar I feel I am, but praise is for the Kings child I know I am. Help my praise follow naturally on the heels of my prayers. Do it because Jesus is worthy! Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Amos 4-6; Revelation 7 Friday, December 13 Luke 15:2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them. Oh Father and Master: Look in great mercy on the many who come to us on Sunday who have never believed in Jesus. O Strong Son of God, Immortal Lover, though we have not seen your face, yet we believe in you and rely on you. Ride forth with arrows dipped in your own blood. Shoot them at the lost in our midst. May they fall under the gospel blow! Wound them with a sense of sin. Smite them, even to self-despair, with a consciousness of their guilt. Then help them get healing from the hand that has wounded them. May they look to you Lord Jesus, anointed of God, enthroned in heaven, who still receives sinners. There are many who are now visiting our church, for the Junior Choir presentation this weekend. Help us look, and wait, and watch for them. Make the crowd increase! Show us favor by granting us more fruit. We ask that while Jesus is lifted up, many will look to him and have the serpents bite cured forever. Isa. 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. You have promised to hear your peoples prayer. This is a prayer you must hear, for it is according to your will and in honor of your Son. It is offered with faith in Jesus. Do not turn away from answering our prayer; keep your word of which we, in humility and adoring faith, remind you. Give us great growth through the preaching of the gospel. The like blessing we ask for our sister churches and missionaries. Give us a revival of true godliness in each place. Put us in tune with your Spirit to accomplish your purpose, for Jesus sake. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Joel; Revelation 5 Wednesday, December 11 2 Cor. 1:10 Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us; Lord: You know how to lift me up by using that which casts me low. You often make rhythms for my psalms out of the pelting rain that drowns-out my music. You are the God of resurrection, so I know when you revive my soul it spells doom for the Devil. He is annoyed to see me start living for God again. But I wrapped him up in the grave-clothes of alcohol. I shut him into the sepulcher of skepticism. I placed him in the tomb of apathy. I left him in the mausoleum of being offended by another Christianand yet he is revived! But I saw him rotting in lust! I saw him corrupting his flesh. His family gave up on him. This is but my enemy, Jesus Christ, who has come back from the grave in him! Lord, make Satan feel that plague again, and see his ultimate destruction in my present revival. Show him who is Master! Make the Devil know how his dominion cannot stand. In your lifetime you overcame both the Devil and death with a word, even so now use your word to revive me! Destroy the sepulchers of sin in my life; let that action start to afflict the Prince of Darkness. Help me join the growing ranks of those who bear testimony to your power. Make our united voices so loud they have to be heardboth by people and by demons. I do sometimes faint. I am full of tears and cry, Psa. 77:7 Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? I love you Lord, but I still have to strive against an unbelieving state. Will I always live at this poor dying rate, my love so faint and cold to you, and yours to me so great? Sometimes I feel like I cant even feelbut dont let my faith waver. Revive my fainting heart today. I depend upon you, Spirit of God. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Amos 7-9; Revelation 8 Saturday, December 14 Psa. 20:1 The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; LORD God of the Undeserving: What a mercy that I can pray in the day of trouble, and what a more blessed privilege it is that no trouble can prevent you from hearing me. Sometimes my trials roll and roar like thunder, but I know you always hear my voice above the storm. Help me lead others Lord, not to worship the unknown God, the good Lord, or some higher power, but to know the God of Jacob who reveals both his name to his children, and his attributes on their behalf. My day of trouble is not over, but my interceding Savior is not silent. The name of the God of Jacob is still the best defense I have. Jacob was a schemer and deceiver. He had his day of trouble in which he wrestled, and yet he was heard. He was defended in due time, and even honored for his faith. His God is my God still. Hear and reward this wrestling Jacob, schemer and deceiver that I am! Rescue me from my deceptions, King Jesus. Psa. 20:2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; There is no help like the help you send, and no deliverance like the one that comes out of your sanctuary. My sanctuary is the Lord Jesus Christ; my shelter and safe haven are his wounds. Hide me in the cleft of my Rock: Jesus. He is the true sanctuary; therefore make my life the true temple where his Spirit resides. Remind me today to flee to the cross for asylum in my time of need. I may be cast down, but I can never be cast out. Lift me today by your mighty arm and make me stand upright in your righteousness, for the victory of Jesus is the inheritance of all who call him Lord. So I ask to his praise and glory. Amen.

ANGELS we have heard on high sweetly singing oer the plains,

And the mountains in reply echoing their joyous strains. Shepherds, why this jubilee? Why your joyous strains prolong? What the gladsome tidings be which inspire your heavenly song? Come to Bethlehem and see Christ Whose birth the angels sing; Come, adore on bended knee, Christ the Lord, the newborn King. See Him in a manger laid, whom the choirs of angels praise; Mary, Joseph, lend your aid, while our hearts in love we raise. Shepherds in the field abiding, tell us when the seraph bright Greeted you with wondrous tiding, what you saw and heard that night. We beheldit is no fableGod incarnate, King of bliss, Swathed and cradled in a stable, and the angel strain was this: Gloria, in excelsis Deo! Gloria, in excelsis Deo! PRAYER DIARY

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

NEXT SUNDAY 11:00A.M.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
