Education and Technology, My Personal Framework By Maria Salgado

Technology changes every day and as it changes, the use of technology is also increasing. When it comes to educations, technology is becoming a big necessity. Educators may use technology to improve their lesson plans, and to better communicate with their students. In college, professors use websites such as blackboard to improve the classroom experience with their students. In general, it is known that for a kindergarten class, the teacher will not us a blackboard website to communicate with the students, but the teacher may use different website or sources that will help their students improve when it comes to their education. An educator should have integrity and should have the ability to educate their students on having integrity. As technology is increasing, basically anything is able to be found on the web. As an educator, my purpose when it comes to technology and education is to educate my students to be honest on what they see and write on the web. Nothing is lost, once something is posted on line, it is possible retrieve. Social networking cites are becoming popular with new generations, and students are posting anything and everything on the social cites. Telling students that they have to think twice on what they post on the social networking is important for their future. Vygotsky believes that a students language is an important factor for the students future in education (Mooney, pg. 101). With social networking sites, people do not write the appropriate English language. People write catch phrases and talkative English such as, lol. Personally, I will inform my students that a way that they are able to practice writing the English language is by writing complete sentences when they post information on the web. Technology is important when it comes to education, everyday students use computers or other devices to write papers or research information needed for their classes. Teachers are able to create PowerPoints in which will help demonstrate their lessons to the students. For group project, students are able to use computers to create PowerPoints and research information in

the internet. Since technology is increasing, there are several of websites in which students are able to practice their skill such as; English, math, science, history, etc. There is also tablets and iPads in which give the opportunity for all students to download educational apps that will help the students practice their skills. When it comes to the older students, the students are able to use the technology to take notes or communicate with the educators. As an educator, my goal is to explain to my students that when it comes to their work; they must always show their own work. Plagiarism will not be accepted in my classroom. My students should have the ability to explore their minds when it comes to their projects. Piagets stages of Cognitive Development explain that at the ages of 2-7 students should be able to form their ideas. At the ages of 7-12, students are able to form ideas on reasoning, and at the age of 12 and above students are able to think conceptually and hypothetically. Piagets stages of cognitive development show that students are able to form ideas, which means students, are able to express their ideas in their writing (Mooney, 81). As an educator, I will educate my students that there are several cultures in the United States. My students should be able to respect the different cultures. When it comes to technology and social networking sites, my students should always be able to express their opinion, but they should also keep in mind that they need to be safe with the words they post on the web. Since anything is able to be posted on the web, much of the information is not true. Showing my students that not everything they find in the internet is real. I do not want my students to have false information when it comes to their research. Especially if its research from a different cultures. It is important that my students are able to distinguish what is real in the internet and what is not.

Plagiarism is something that is not allowed at Concordia University and in any other school. In my own classroom, plagiarism will not be allowed, since it is stealing from someone hard work. I will educate my students on working hard for their work. All students will be treated and graded equally on their work. A way I will teach this to my students is by explaining to them that it is not fair that they steal someone work. As it is not fair for my students to have someone steal their work. As Vygotsky believed that after the age are of 2 students are able to form their own idea (Vygotsky, pg. 81). I agree with Vygotsky, student should be able to form their own ideas and set them in writing. Equity is an important factor when it comes to showing my student to have integrity when using technology. Legal matter are important to show my students when it comes to using technology. From what they download in the internet to what they steal from others in the web. I will educate my students that they must always give credited to the person or website they receive their information from. Downloading illegal material from other websites will give anybody undesirable consequences from the government. Technology is increasing rapidly, educator are using new technology to improve the classroom experiences. As an educator, my goal is to use all technology that will improve my student education. Also, to inform all my student the appropriate way of using technology. At Concordia University, Integrity is what they college of Education need to make sure they have the appropriate candidates to become a teacher. Integrity is what my student will need to show in class when it comes to their work. I pledge to educate my students on the ethics of technology and education.
