From the Pastors Desk

What gives us the courage to prepare the way of the Lord as John the Baptist did? How can we continue to work, watch, and wait for the reign of God in a world where progress seems impossible? We are energized by the confident hope that Christ will ultimately triumph over every mountain, gorge, and rough way. The Christ who came into human history once and comes to save each of us from sin day by day will indeed come again to establish his reign of justice over the whole universe so that all flesh shall see the salvation of God. We express the fullness of this Advent hope when we proclaim together in our Memorial Acclamation at Mass: Dying you destroyed our death, rising you restored our life. Lord Jesus, come in glory. Hope strengthens us to keep preparing the way of the Lord until he comes in glory.

Advent Reflection
I would like to invite you to a good way to prepare for Christs coming, which is the Advent Reflection. Our Parish Advent Reflection night will be on Tuesday, December 10th at 7:00 p.m. in church. We would like everyone to attend - those who attend yearly and those who didnt attend for a while or ever. I would also like to encourage you to participate in the advent confessions that will follow the reflection that night, so that we may anticipate Christs coming with a clean and pure heart. Our reflection master will be Fr. Jim Presta, the Vice President of Mundelein Seminary. After the reflection and confessions we will have a light reception in the Stoke Center. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We thank those who already made their commitments to our Campaign and we remind you that you can wait for the reminders to come in the mail making your first payments following the instructions given by the Archdiocese. After you receive the instructions To Teach Who Christ Is Campaign in the mail, payments will be mailed to the Archdiocese as they hold our parishs account for the Campaign and they will send us report updates systematically. The money collected will be released by the Archdiocese to fund the projects mentioned in the Campaign case. The success of our Campaign depends on the participation of us all. Yours in Christ,

Rev. Richard Milek

"My abortion is definitely the one thing I regret. There will always be remorse and sadness. The feeling of the loss of a child will always be there. I wish I could have known then what abortion was all about and its devastating effects on the woman. So many women feel that if they had more support and truth during their crisis pregnancy many lives would have been saved." There will be a tax appeal meeting in our Stokes Center on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00pm held by our Alderman Nick Sposato.

Help Change The Life of A Child and Let Their Love Change You! This Weekend Our Parish Family Welcomes CARITAS For Children

In our world there are millions of orphaned, vulnerable, and impoverished children who exist daily without food, education, or hope. None of them should ever be forgotten. CARITAS For Children brings these children the necessary resources for a life of dignity and fulfillment with the promise of a better future.Providing health, education and the basic human resources of food, clean water, shelter and safety for orphaned and disadvantaged children, working with Catholic religious communities throughout the world, CARITAS brings hope to children who have been born into extreme poverty. Working with these Catholic Reigious Orders of sisters, priests and brothers on three continents in Africa, Europe and Latin America and in six countries in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Poland, Haiti and our newest mission sites in the Dominican Republic, CARITAS For Children develops programs in the field, where the poorest children and families live, to identify their most pressing needs, and respond with love, commitment and care for those we serve. CARITAS For Children offers two levels of Sponsorship: The Day School Program for children who have a place to live and attend school while living at home. The Sponsorship offering is $30.00 monthly. The Boarding School Program for children who live at school the entire year. The Sponsorship offering is $85.00 monthly. Both programs offer daily nurturing and guidance from the sisters, brothers, priests and lay associates, meals, tuition, books, uniforms, medical services, clean drinking water, religious instruction and counseling, tutoring, vocational skills and enrichment classes. CARITAS For Childrens Sponsorship Program is a powerful and costeffective way to change the life of a child and impact your own life. For $1 a day CARITAS provides a child with a solid Catholic education, an enriched spirituality, improved healthcare, and a better future. The lives of our sponsors are changed as well, in Jesus invitation to live the Gospel daily, by loving these children as God loves us. Our Sponsorship Program brings children the opportunity to grow into mature, self-reliant adults formed in Catholic values and teaching. Our new Holy Father Pope Francis has called for a poor church for the poor because in the poor we find the Lord himself. Through our global ministry, CARITAS For Children gives witness to Jesus invitation to live the Gospel, and transform the hearts of the poor and ourselves in our relationship with them. Join our worldwide community to love one another as Christ loves us by sharing Gods love for us with these children. Please open your heart and sponsor a CARITAS child today. Next weekend we host in our parish Fr. Rich Lobianco, Pastor of Divine Savior Parish, who will present the Caritas for Children program at all the masses. Please read the article above to familiarize yourself with the program and its services to needy children.
