DoubleclickontheLogoDesignStudiodesktopicontolaunchthesoftware.A welcomewindowwillopenallowingyoutochooseapredesignedlogotemplate fromalistofcategories:
STEP2:CHANGETHETEXT
YourselectedlogotemplatewillnowopeninLogoDesignStudio.Youcanedit anythingonthecanvasusingtheoptionsinthemenubar,aswellastheleftand rightslideoutpanesnexttothelogocanvas. Newgraphicobjectsandprewrittentaglinescanbeaddedtoyourlogocanvasby selectingtherespectiveObjectsandTaglinespanesontheleft. Tochangethetextinthelogotemplate,firstselectthetextonthecanvasand thenopentheAdvancedToolspaneontheright.Enteryournewtexttoreplace thetextonthecanvas. YouwillseeinthefollowingexamplethattheGlobalBittexthasbeenreplaced intheSelectedTextfieldwithSecureStar.
STEP3:CHANGETHEOBJECTCOLOR
Nowthatyourtextiswhatyouneedforyourownbusiness,letschangethecolor ofthegraphicobjectonthelogocanvas.Dothisbyfirstselectingthebluesphere objectandthenchoosingtheColoroptioninthemenubar:

STEP4:SAVEANDEXPORTYOURLOGO
Ifyouarenowreadytouseyourlogoforyourbusinesscards,websiteandother onlineandprintprojects,thenitstimetosaveandexportyourdesign. Aquicknoteaboutsavingandexportingyourlogo Youshouldalwayssaveyourlogoonceitiscompleted;thisallowsyoutoopen thelogoatanytimeinordertoeditit.Savingkeepsalllayerseditablesoyoucan easilychangeyourtextorotherelementsonthecanvas. Whenyouarereadytouseyourlogoonabusinesscard,website,newsletter,or anyotheronlineorprintprojectyoucanexportyourlogodesign.Exporting flattensalltheelementsonthecanvasinordertoprocessyourdesignasan image.YoucanexporttoJPEG,BMP,PNG,TIF,EMF,PDF,ICOandGIF.Choosethe ExportoptiontoopentheExportwizardandfollowthestepstosaveyourlogoin animageformatthatisrightforyourproject.Formostprojectsyouwillfindthe PNGortheJPEGimageformatworksperfectly. YouhavetwooptionswhenyoufirstbeginworkingwithLogoDesignStudio: modifyingapredesignedlogotemplate,orcreatingalogousingablankcanvas.
USINGAPREDESIGNEDLOGOTEMPLATE
Oncethelogotemplateappearsinthecanvaswindow,youcanthenclickonany element(text,shape,graphicobject)tomodifyordeleteit.Differentoptionswill becomeavailableontheAdvancedToolsslideoutpaneltotherightonceyou clickonanelementinthecanvas,dependingonwhetheritistext,shapeora graphicobject.Readtheappropriatesectionsofthismanualtolearnmoreabout Graphics,Text,Shapes,andTaglines,aswellassavingandusingyourlogo. Toresizethecanvas,gotoCanvasintheMenubarandselectResizeCanvas.You canresizethecanvasdimensionsbasedonpixels,centimeters,millimetersor inches;adjusttheresolutionupto1200dpi(300dpiisrecommendedforprint use,72dpiforwebuse);changethebackground,makethebackground transparent(youcanthenexportalogowithatransparentbackgroundby choosingthePNGexportformat)andaddagridformoreaccuratetextandobject placement. YoucanalsocreatealogofromablankcanvasbyselectingNewfromtheFile menuoptions(theroundLogobuttonatthetopleftofthemainprogram window).Ifyouhavealogoprojectcurrentlydisplayed,youwillbepromptedto saveanychangesyoumadetoitbeforeyournewprojectisopened. EnterthenameforyournewlogoprojectintheProjectNamefield.Thisname willbethenameoftheprojectfolderLogoDesignStudiocreatesforyou.This locationwillbeinasubfolderofyourMyDocumentsfoldercalledMyLogo DesignStudioProjects.TheDefaultLocationcheckboxischeckedbydefault; uncheckitifyouwanttosavethelogoinadifferentlocationandeithereditthe pathnameintheLocationfieldorclickBrowsetonavigatetoanewlocation.You canresizethecanvasdimensionsbasedonpixels,centimeters,millimetersor inches;adjusttheresolution(300dpiisrecommendedforprintuse,72dpifor webuse);andchangethebackground.ClickOktocreatethecanvas. TheObjectscanbefoundinaslideoutpanelontheleftofthelogocanvas; simplymoveyourmousepointeroverthistabtogetittoslideout.

Clickononeoftheobjectstoselectit;aborderwillappeararoundtheselected object.Moveyourmousecursorovertotheworkcanvas;itwillchangetoa crosshair(+)withasmallpicturebelowandtotherightofit.Clickonthecanvas toaddtheobject. Youcanmanipulatetheobjectbyusingthesizingandrotationalhandledotsthat appeararoundtheobjectorbyusingtheobjectmanipulationtoolsinthe AdvancedToolsslideoutpanelontherightofthecanvasthatappearswhenan objectonthecanvasisselected. Anotherwaytoadjustthesizeofaselectedobjectistoadjustthewidthand heightfromtheAdvancedToolspanel.

1)ChangingSize,Position&Appearance
Onceyouselectanobjectonthecanvas,youcanmodifyitbyusingtheAdvanced Toolsslideoutpanelontherightsideofthecanvasworkspaceand/ortheoptions foundintheHomemenutabatthetop. AdvancedTools
Whenanobjectisselected,theAdvancedToolspanelfeaturesRotation, HorizontalandVerticalFlip,andOpacityoptions. Youcanrotatetheselectedgraphic elementbyrotatingtheRotatecontrol clockwiseorcounterclockwise. Rotationanglesareorientedlikeacompass,withzerodegreesasup/north,90 degreesasright/east,180degreesasdown/south,and270degreesasleft/west. Tofliptheobjecthorizontally,clicktheHorizontalFlipbutton(attheleft).Toflip theobjectvertically,clicktheVerticalFlipbutton(attheright).Flipsareagood waytocreateamirroredorreflectiveeffect. Tocontrolhowmuchofthelayerbeneath(orthebackground)showsthrough, slidetheOpacitysliderleftorrighttomaketheobjectmoretransparentor opaque. Homemenutab
YoucanusetheCopy,Cut,Paste,Undo,RedoandDeletebuttonsintheHome menutabforanyselectedobject.

CopywillcreateanexactcopyoftheselectedobjectthatyoucanthenPastein anotherlocationonthelogocanvas.Cutremovestheselectedobjectfromthe canvasbutyoucanthenpasteitinanotherlocationoronanothercanvas altogether.Ifyouareunhappywithachangeyouhavemade,youcanUndoitat anytime.Likewise,ifyouhaveundoneachangeyoucanthenRedothechangeto keepyourmodifications.TheDeletebuttonpermanentlyremovesyourselection fromthelogocanvas. ClicktheClonebuttontoautomaticallymakeacopyoftheselectedobject;the copywillappearinanewlayerontopthatoftheoriginalobjectandbedisplayed slightlylowerandtotherightoftheoriginal.Thecopywillbecometheselected objectforfurtherduplicationsandmanipulation.Todeletetheselectedobject, clicktheDeletebutton,orpressthedeletebuttononyourkeyboard. OtherTools
Youcanalsoresizeyourselectionbyusingtheothertooloptionsfoundinthe program.ThemaintoolsyouwillneedcanalwaysbefoundintheAdvancedTools panelandtheHometab.Tocontrolhowlargeorsmalltheobjectis,slidethe WidthandHeightslidersleftorright,respectively,tocontractorexpandthe objectinthosedimensions.Toproportionatelyenlargeorshrinktheobject,check thePreserveAspectRatiocheckbox. Youcanalignaselectedobjectorobjectsusing theAlignmentslideoutpanelontherightofthe canvas.IftheAlignmenttabisnotavailableon therightside,youcanopenitbygoingtothe Homemenutab,clickingtheAlignbuttonand selectingAdvancedAlignment. Thetopninechoiceswillaligntwoormore selectedobjectswitheachother. Youcanmanipulatethepositionofanyselected objectbyusingtheAdvancedAlignmentboxesat thebottomoftheAlignmentsection.UsetheLeft

Tochangethecolorofanobject,clicktheColormenutabandthenchoosea coloroptionbypressingthelargeColorbutton.
Selectthetypeofcolorfillyouwant(theSolidoptionwillcreateablendedlook foranyoftheprecoloredgraphicobjectsincludedwithLogoDesignStudio).

Hue,Saturation,&Lightness
SlidetheHueslidertochangethecoloroftheselectedobject.Colorsare arrangedasacolorwheelstartingfromred,andgoingupthespectrumthrough orange,yellow,green,blue,indigo,andvioletbeforeturningmagentaand becomingredagain.Whenthesliderismovedallthewaytotheleftorright,the objectwillreverttoitsoriginalcolor. SlidetheSaturationslidertochangethecolorsaturation.Movetheslidertothe lefttomakethecolorappearmore"washedout";movetheslidertotherightto makethecolorappearmorevibrant. SlidetheLightnessslidertochangethelightnessordarknessofthecolor.Move theslidertothelefttomakethecolorappeardarker;movetheslidertotheright tomakethecolorappearlighter. ClickApplywhenyouaresatisfiedwithyourchanges,orCanceltorestorethe objecttoitsoriginalappearance.

Brightness/Contrast
Youcanadjusthowsharplyanobjectappearsonthecanvasbyusingthe Brightness/Contrastcontrols. SlidetheBrightnessslidertotherighttomaketheimageappearbrighterorleft tomakeitappeardarker.SlidetheContrastslidertotherighttomaketheimage standoutmoreandlefttomaketheimagelessdistinct.Youcanoftengetthe sharpestresultsbyslidingtheBrightnesssliderallthewaytotheleftandthe Contrastsliderallthewaytotheright. ClickApplywhenyouaresatisfiedwithyourchanges,orCanceltorestorethe objecttoitsoriginalappearance. Gradient
YoucanchooseoneortwocolorstouseinthegradientwiththeColor1and Color2dropdowns.Clickingeitherdropdowndisplaysacolorselectiondialog; clickthesquarecorrespondingtothecolorshadowyouwanttoapply,orclick Customtoaccessapalettewithadditionalshadesofcolor.Youcanseehowthe colorsappeartogetherintheGradientsamplefieldabovethedropdowns. Youcancontrolthesaturationforeithercolorbyusingthesliderbeneaththe colordropdown.Slidethesliderlefttodecreasethesaturationlevelorrightto increaseit. SelectthedirectionforthecolorstochangefromtheGradientDirection dropdownandthepatternofcolorchangewiththeFillmethoddropdown.A sampleofthegradientpatternwillappearinthePreviewsquaresbelowthe dropdowns.Thepatternwillalsoappearintheselectedobjectonthelogo canvas. ClickApplywhenyouaresatisfiedwithyourchanges,orCanceltorestorethe objecttoitsoriginalappearance.

FillWithPicture
Youcanfillyourselectedobjectwith animage.Todothis,enterthe pathnameofthegraphiclocationor clicktheBrowseImage...button. Adialogwillappearfromwhichyoucannavigatetothelocationofthegraphic imageusingoneofthebuttonsontheleftsideofthedialogortheLookin: dropdownfieldatthetopofthedialog. YoucanselectaspecificgraphictypeusingtheFilesoftypedropdown;whenthe fileyouwantappearsinthemainwindow,clickitandthenclicktheOpenbutton toselectthegraphic. Youcantilethegraphicimagewithintheobject bycheckingtheTiledcheckbox.Whenthebox isunchecked,theimageappearsonlyonce. UsetheHDispandVDispsliderstochangetheplacementofthefillimagewithin theobject. UsetheOpacityslidertoadjustthetransparencyoftheselectedobject.Select thecolorforyourblurfromtheBlurColordropdownbyclickingthedownarrow attherightofthedropdown.Clickthesquarecorrespondingtothecolorshadow youwanttoapply,orclickCustomtoaccessapalettewithadditionalshadesof color. UsetheBlurRadiusslidertochangehowblurredtheobjectappears.Movethe sliderlefttomaketheobjectappearsharpandrighttomaketheobjectappear blurrier. Youcanimportanygraphic,imageorpicturelocatedonyourcomputerdirectly intoLogoDesignStudiousingthePicturebuttonfoundintheGraphicssectionof theInsertmenutab. OnceyouclickthePicturebuttonabrowserwindowwillopentoLogoDesign StudiosdefaultImportedImagesfolder.Thefirsttimeyouopenthis,thefolder shouldbeemptysinceyouhavenotyetimportedanypictures;butthisfolderwill keepacopyofanyimportedpictureforfutureusesoyoudonthavetobrowse forthepicturemorethanonce. Simplylocatethepictureyouwanttoimportusingthebrowsedialogwindowand thenclicktheOpenbuttononceyouhavefoundandselectedthepicture. TextcanbeaddedtothelogocanvasbyusingtheTextoptionsfoundintheInsert menutab.Thetextonanyofthelogotemplatescanbeoneofsixtypes:

SimpleText Hasnospecialappearanceeffectsofitsown,butitssize,position,andcolorcan stillbechangedthroughmodifyingthetext. MemoText LikeSimpleText,thisstylehasnospecialeffectsexceptforitsstackable appearancethatcanbeachievedbydecreasingthewidthofthetextbox.Itssize, position,andcolorcanstillbechangedthroughmodifyingthetext. OutlineText Outlinesthecenteroftheaddedtextwithadefaultredcolorthatcanbechanged intheFormatmenutab.Youcanalsoadjustthecharacterspacing. ProjectiveText Canbeexpandedinanyoneoralldirectionstoproducetelescopingorthree dimensional(perspective)effects.Youcanalsoaddanoutlineeffectandadjust thecharacterspacing. Projectivetextworksdifferentlyfromtheothertextoptions.
Dragginganyofthewhitedotsatthecornersaltersthe shapeofthetextinthedirectionthedotisdragged.To enlargethetext,placethecursorontheblackline betweenthewhitedots,holddowntheleftmousebutton andmovethecursorawayfromthetextcenter.Toshrink thetext,movethecursortowardthetext'scenter. Onceyouselecttextonyourcanvas,theHomemenutabwillopengivingyour optionstoadjustyourtextintheFontsection. AtthebottomoftheFontsectionisasetofbuttonstoletyoudisplaythetextin boldface,italics,underlined,orstruckthrough;setleftjustification,center justification,orrightjustification.
