Product Types
The Product Type (Product_Type_vod__c) determines the use for the product

Detail
All other products use their corresponding Detail product as a parent

To detail, sample or deliver a key message, the product must be in the Product Catalog.

Adding a New Product

Click New in the Product Catalog
If the product is not of type Detail it must have a Parent Product of type Detail

Restricts the sample quantity entered on the call report The order to display the product on the call report If unchecked, reps will be unable to sample the product

Exclude product from Cycle Plans

Must be checked to enforce Sample Quantity

Deactivating a Promotional Item

To prevent promotional product from appearing on Calls:

Remove the Parent Product reference

Once finished dont forget to CLEAR VEEVA CACHE!

Uncheck the Company Product checkbox

Enabling a Product in My Setup Tab

To add a product to My Setup: All Tabs My Setup Users can sample/detail a company product that is selected Products are lookups to Product Catalog record

Manually through the My Setup tab

Preferred if the product mix for each rep changes regularly

Preferred for large number of users and/or products My Setup table stores one row per product per user

Product Alignment by Territory and Account

Allows control of which products can be detailed by reps (territories) for specific accounts

Example: When a sales rep is recording a call for a certain account, he can only detail certain products

Typically managed via data loader, not UI Supported Online, Tablet, iPad, and Blackberry

In the Territory Field object, add the Allowed Product field to the TSF Layout page layout Populate the Allowed Product field with double semi-colon delimited list of Product Names
