Important Fact and news of RBI: 3. RBI started Plastic Money Project on Trial Basis in 5 cities of India with the denomination of 10 rupees and will continue with other small denominations depending upon the success of these notes. 4. The Union Government and RBI on 12 March 2013 decided to introduce one billion pieces of 10 Rupees bank notes made of plastic on a field trial basis in five cities of Kochi, Mysore, Jaipur, Bhubhaneswar and Shimla. 5. Till now, the FIIs (Foreign Institutional Investor), QFIs (Qualified Foreign Investors) and NRIs were eligible to invest and acquire the shares on the recognized stock exchanges of India in compliance with the FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) regulations. But the NRIs were not allowed to acquire shares on exchange (bourses) under the FDI Scheme. 11. The RBI said, min paid-up equity of 25 % should be held directly by the lender. Also, repayment of the principal will commence only after completion of minimum average maturity of 7 years and no prepayment will be allowed before maturity. 12. RBI opens special dollar window for 3 oil marketing firms: the central bank has activated the forex swap window, whereby it will undertake sell/buy of dollar-rupee forex swaps for a fixed period with Indian Oil Corporation, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum through a designated bank. 13. Also banks were asked to ensure that the amount of loan to any customer against gold ornaments, gold Jewellery and gold coins (weighing up to 50 grams) should be within the board approved limit. 14. Important News 6. Faced with a weakening rupee, the Reserve Bank announced it will sell government bonds worth Rs 22,000 crore every Monday to check volatility in the forex market. 7. According to Sushil Muhnot, Chairman & Managing Director, SIDBI, under the MOU, SIDBI and its associates will provide consultancy for three year period to SFD and establish credit guarantee system for micro, small and medium enterprises in Egypt. 54. Revised Food Bill proposes uniform 5 kg per head foodgrain subsidy: Nearly 67 per cent of population will get 5 kg of foodgrain per month at subsidised prices, once the National Food Security Bill (NFSB) gets approval from Parliament. The price for providing foodgrains will be initially valid for the first three years of implementation of the Act and after that it will be linked to Minimum Support Price. There is no change of entitlement for 2.43 crore poorest of poor families under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, which is 35 kg per household per month. The Bill aims to cover 75 per cent of r ural population and 50 per cent of the urban population. 56. The MGPSY is aimed at helping the workers to save money for their retirement, their return to India and resettlement and provides life insurance cover against natural death during the period of coverage.Under the scheme, Government contributes Rs.1,000 per annum for men and Rs. 2000 for women subscribers of MGPSY who save between Rs.1,000 and Rs.12,000 per year in NPS-Lite. 73. Ratings agency Crisil Friday assigned 'AAA' ratings to India Infradebt Limited, the country's first infrastructure debt fund under the non-banking finance company structure.The fund, jointly promoted by ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) and Citicorp Finance (India), awarded its first sanction letter to a road project. 74. A maximum of 30 remittances can be loaded during a calendar year.Prepaid cards are beneficial to customers as there is no need to open a bank account in State Bank of India. 77. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved disinvestment of government stake in State Trading Corporation (STC) and ITDC, which would fetch around Rs.30 crore to the exchequer.

The roll out of white-label automated teller machines (ATM) may still take a long time as most of the successful applicants are not still unready to start operations and ATMs are teller machines that don't have a label of a particular bank as these machines are installed and operated by non-bank entities. In simple words, these machines offer services to customers of all banks.Tata Communications has already started the launch of white-label ATMs. The company aims to launch as many as 50,000 ATMs by the year 2016. 107.
