Obituary VA Trivedi Passes Away


Shri Vijaykumar Ambalal Trivedi (popularily known as VA Trivedi), the Hon. Secretary of The Textile Association (India) - Ahmedabad Unit suddenly passed away on Monday November 4, 2013 at 12.00 noon in Ahmedabad due to a massive heart attack. He was 65 and a Patron Member of the TAI. Shri Vijay Trivedi was born on 20 October, 1948 in Kalol near Ahmedabad. After completing his studies B.Sc. DTC in 1971, he joined Bharat Vijay Mills (BVM, now Sintex Industries), Kalol as a chemist in the laboratory. Later, in 1983, he started his own Textile Laboratory in Ahmedabad in the name of Jyoti Laboratories which recently completed 25 years of its successful running and celebrated Silver Jubilee only recently. He had also started another business venture in 1990 in the name Alchem Enterprises for the manufacturing of specialty chemicals. Shri Vijay Trivedi was actively associated with the working of the Ahmedabad Unit of the Textile Association for the last three decades in various positions. He was one of the most dynamic, sinShri VA Trivedi cere and hardworking professional who served the textile industry through the Association by successfully organising a number of national and international level seminars and conferences during his tenure as a secretary. Notable among them were the Textile Conference in 1998 and an International Conference & Exhibition in 2008. Shri Vijay Trivedi was instrumental in getting Best Unit trophy for the Ahmedabad Unit 9 times comprising of three hat-tricks. His void in the TAI-Ahmedabad Unit will always be felt. Shri Vijay Trivedi was a well known personality in the textile circles of Gujarat and also at the National level due to his prominent and dynamic role in the Textile Association. He had won numerous Awards for his best performance in the Association like Best Representative, Best Committee Chairman, Service Memento of Unit level, Service Memento & Service Gold Medal from TAI-Central office, among others. Shri Vijay Trivedi always kept himself abreast of latest technological developments taking place worldwide. He participated in many textile conferences at national level and also visited ITMA05 Singapore, ATME-I 2006 Atlanta, USA, ITMA-2007 Munich Germany, ITMA-Asia 2008 Shanghai, China, ITMA2011, Barcelona, Spain and 11th Asian Textile Conference at South Korea. Shri Vijay Trivedi's main passion was to promote knowledge, technology and consultancy in the textile field in areas like dyeing, printing, finishing of fabrics and garments. He was the pioneer in setting up a textile testing laboratory in Ahmedabad at a time when hardly such private facility existed. Over a period of time he achieved a distinct leadership position and Jyoti Laboratories is now regarded as a leading trustworthy facility for various textile, dyes and chemicals related testing jobs. Shri Vijay Trivedi was also actively involved in social and cultural activities of his community. He was the Founder of the "Modh Chaturvedi Brahman Yuvak Mandal", Kalol and also a Committee Member of 'Modheshwari Temple' at Modhera, near Mehsana. Shri Vijay Trivedi is survived by his 85 year old mother Smt. Shardaben, his widow Smt. Kokilaben, his three sons (all married) : Atrish (42), Nilesh (41) and Hitesh (35) and grandchildren : Rhythm Atrish Trivedi (13), Noopur Hitesh Trivedi (10), Shivangi Nilesh Trivedi (8), and Het Nilesh Trivedi (6). Shri Vijay Trivedi's untimely demise is a big loss for his family, relatives and friends. NCM has lost a good friend and a well-wisher whom our editor fondly remembers as an ever smiling person, always ready to help and work hard. NCM always received his support and help to NCM as a Technical Committee Member from the beginning from August 1987.
