1. (a) Explain the operation of a two stage D.C amplifier using Miller compensation
technique.
(b) List out the specifications of a D.C amplifier. [10+6]
2. (a) Compare series and short voltage regulator circuits in all respects.
(b) Design a series voltage regulator with the following specifications Vo =20volts,
Vi n=22-30 volts, Il oad(max)=50mA. [10+6]
4. What is meant by commutation of SCR? What are different classes of forced com-
mutation methods? Explain class A and class B methods. [16]
5. (a) Derive the expressions for the following performance factors of a single-phase
fully controlled bridge converter
i. Input displacement factor
ii. Input power factor
iii. DC voltage ratio
iv. Input- current distortion factor.
(b) A single phase half-wave rectifier is used to supply power to a load of im-
pedance 10 ohms from 230V, 50 Hz a.c.supply at the firing angle of 30 degrees.
Calculate the
i. Average load voltage
ii. Effective value
iii. Load current [10+6]
6. (a) With the help of voltage and current waveforms, explain the working of type
C chopper.

4. (a) List the advantages and disadvantages of Triac as compared to SCR
(b) Explain in detail the following current ratings of SCR.

5. (a) Explain the half-waving effect in a single-phase symmetrical half-controlled
converters.

commutation. Draw and explain the relevant waveforms. Explain its limitations.
