Toastmasters Club Meetings

EXPLANATION OF ROLES
Table Topics Master: Gives members who arent assigned a speaking role the opportunity to speak during the meeting. The Topicsmaster challenges each member with a subject, and the speaker responds with a one- to two-minute impromptu talk. Word Master: Before each Toastmasters meeting, the wordmaster selects a new vocabulary word and presents it to the members who should try to use it during the day's meeting. The goal of this exercise is to teach Toastmasters new vocabulary that they can use during everyday conversation, according to Toastmasters International. Vote Counter: Vote Counter collects ballots and announces the votes for Best Speaker, Best Evaluator, and Best Table Topics Speaker. Timer: Uses a stopwatch to time the Speakers, Evaluators, and Table Topics Speakers, turning on lights at the appropriate times. At the request of the Toastmaster or General Evaluator, the Timer reports the length of each speech, evaluation, and Table Topics response. Aah Counter: Keeps track of how many filler words (such as "ah," "um," "er," and "you know") each person uses during the meeting and, at the Toastmaster's request, gives a report. General Evaluator: Introduces each Evaluator before he or she evaluates a speech. After each evaluation, the Evaluator returns control to the General Evaluator. After the last Evaluator returns control to the General Evaluator, the Master Evaluator requests whatever reports the agenda calls for and returns control to the Toastmaster of the Evening. Listener: Carefully listens to the prepared speakers and prepares one or two questions regarding their speeches, which then he or she asks the audience for answers. Gramarian: Throughout the meeting, listens to everyones word usage. Writes down any awkward use or misuse of the language (incomplete sentences, sentences that change direction in midstream, incorrect grammar or malapropisms) with a note of who erred.
