Camerapersons Journal My role of a camera person was to record enough correct footage which was then edited by the editor, who is then able to create the final production to a high standard. As the camera person I was required to have a good understanding and knowledge of how to use the camera and what different shots to use. Before filming the footage I had to make sure that I knew how to work the camera, I checked the settings and also checked if the sound was working. By checking the settings it allowed me to know about the different aspects of the camera which I could film to a high standard. However there were problems due to myself not using the Sony Z1 before. Being the camera person in AS enabled me to know the basics however also myself being out of practise for a year I wanted to go over camera shots having more confidence for my A2 project. The Sony Z1 took time to get used to and may have prolonged the production process but this enabled me to film to a high standard. Just to make sure I was comfortable in filming I filmed different aspects just to make sure I was confident in being able to use it effectively and going over 180 degree rule and Depth of field. To enhance my knowledge about this specific camera I watched YouTube tutorials on how to do certain things such as getting the colour right and monitoring the sound levels. The difficulties I faced were that I found it hard to maintain a steady hand at times however my other group members were able to assist me by holding the camera at the bottom and the tripod also helped me as it supported the camera level and balance. Lighting caused me some problems as we were filming on various days and did not to know the original colour we started off with. This was time consuming also allowing us to re do our footage in the lighting that we all remembered. To help us find the correct lighting we put up a draft on YouTube enabling us to see the original lighting we started off with. Throughout the whole production stage I have worked more closely with the editor as she is the one who is going to be editing the footage I have captured and she has guided me on what shots to use and the reason. The reason why she guided me was to make sure that our production would be edited to a high standard due to her skills. I have also worked with the director giving my opinion on what shots to use, and then it will be the opposite of him giving his opinions. Building a relationship with the director and editor is important alongside being a group; as it allowed us to communicate with each other more, sharing our views and opinions on what we think of what is happening in the scene, and what scenes to keep during editing. Overall I have gained a better understanding and able to know the difference between AS and A2 camera work and production. Using different camera has a made a bigger difference as I had to learn all of the features and components. Nevertheless I have developed my communication and social skills with the other group members acknowledging their roles through production.
