Honour for road safety campaigner
PAULInE Fielding, of Heswall, was invited by
her MP Ben Chapman, to attend a tea party
in Parliament for “heroes”, who have made
an outstanding contribution to the voluntary
sector in their community.
Ben Chapman said: “It was an honour to
attend this event with Pauline Fielding, who
is a tireless campaigner for justice for road
crash victims. She carries out exceptional
work for the charity RoadPeace, which offers
practical and emotional support, raises the
profile of road safety and seeks to challenge
leniency towards those who break traffic
laws. It also provides invaluable advice and
a national helpline.
“I am delighted that Pauline’s work has
been recognised in this way. The charity
has had a significant impact on the lives of
people in Wirral South and across the United
Kingdom.”
After the tea party, Pauline said: “I was
honoured that Ben chose to invite me and
pleased to accept. I had a fantastic time. It
was good to meet the other volunteers and I also enjoyed seeing how Parliament
works.
“our aim at RoadPeace is to end discrimination against road crash victims and to
ensure that road victims will receive decent treatment and services, and that society
will suffer far fewer unnecessary road deaths and injuries in future.
“I would like to thank Ben for all the support he has given, and continues to give,
as my MP. His advice and encouragement have been invaluable and are greatly
appreciated.”
Pauline started the charity following the death of her son Andrew, who was just 18

It’s 25 years since licensee Ralph Leech moved to ‘The Fox’ in september 1984
when it had just a bar and the snug. The yard at the back was the car park.
Many changes were made in the early years when the lounge was created from
the old tea rooms and the addition of the car park created what has become a very
popular and traditional local venue for socialising and drinking with its range of
six cask ales featuring regular beers and guest ales together with five lagers, over 60
whiskies and 12 wines by the glass.
