GENERAL INFORMATION

1- What is ERASMUS MUNDUS Programme?


Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of higher education and to promote dialogue and understanding between people and cultures through cooperation between Europe and Third-Countries. The programme is implemented by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). This cooperation is materialized through comprehensive grant programme to implement the mobility of students and staff from South America to EU and vice-versa.

2- The ERASMUS MUNDUS SUD-UE Programme


The Erasmus Mundus SUD-UE programme is a partnership established between 12 South Americans Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in ten targeted countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela) and 8 European HEIs from different countries (France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain) within the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Strand 1 Lot 14 All participating universities have ample experience in international co-operation and academic exchange. The mobility scheme proposed for the project foresees the mobility of 181 grantees between Europe and South America. The types of mobility are: Undergraduates Masters Doctorates Post-docs Academic/Administrative staff

3- What are the objectives of the programme?


The Erasmus Mundus SUD-UE programme is funded by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) and the objectives are: To contribute to the mutual enrichment of societies by developing the qualifications of men and women so that they possess appropriate skills, particularly as regards the labour market, and are open-minded and internationally experienced; To promote mobility both for students, researchers, academics and administrative staff from South America, especially from vulnerable groups, selected on the basis of academic excellence, to obtain qualifications and/or experience in the European Union; To contribute towards the development of human resources and the international co-operation capacity of higher education institutions in third-countries through increased mobility streams between the EU and third-countries in accordance with the principles of equal opportunities and non-discrimination.

4- How is the mobility distributed among participating countries?


The consortium promotes an equal balanced mobility scheme that will be achieved according to the dynamics of the application period. Number and type of expected mobility from South America to EU

El Magster desarrolla reas de gran relevancia en educacin, como es la comprensin lectora y la produccin de textos. Por lo tanto, es un elemento importante para perfeccionar el ejercicio profesional docente y para desarrollar programas e investigaciones que potencien los procesos lectores y escritores, incrementando el conocimiento y optimizando la calidad educativa.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE


The Erasmus Mundus SUD-UE is a grant programme to carry out academic activities in South America and in Europe. In order to be an eligible candidate it is required:

South American students and staff must: 1. Be a national of one of the third-countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela. 2. Belong to the Target Group 1 or Target Group 2 or Target Group 3 (see below Target Group description). Undergraduate and staff candidates cannot be TG2. 3. Have not resided nor have carried out their main activity (studies, work, etc) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the eligible European countries at the time of submitting their application to the partnership. (This rule does not apply to Target group 3 candidates). 4. Prove the language level required by the host university. Please note that, on the one hand, undergraduate students must have successfully completed at least one year of studies in their home institution at first higher education level and on the other hand, they must not be at their last year of studies at the moment they apply.

Description of Target Groups: TARGET GROUP 1: For South American candidates: Are nationals of South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) who are registered or work in one of the South American Higher Education Institutions, member of the partnership at the time of submitting their application to the partnership. For European candidates: are nationals of the European Union who are registered or work in one of the European Higher Education Institutions, member of the partnership at the time of submitting their application to the partnership. TARGET GROUP 2: Are nationals of South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) who: Are registered/work in a higher education institution of these countries that are not included in the partnership (students and staff); Have obtained a university degree or equivalent by an institution of these countries (students only). This includes the possibility of providing mobility opportunities to third-country nationals working in public administration, public and private enterprises and non-profit organizations.

TARGET GROUP 3: Nationals of South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) concerned by the geographical lot who are in particularly vulnerable situations, for social and political reasons, i.e. applicants belonging to indigenous or afro-descendant groups. Please, note that a document proving this belonging will be requested.

IMPORTANT NOTE: No student and no academic staff member can benefit from more than one mobility activity within the same project. Mobility must take place from South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela) to Europe or vice-versa.

On line Application Instructions EMA2 Lot 14 SUD-UE programme
In order to complete your application correctly, please read these instructions carefully: All applicants must fulfill the requirements established in WHO CAN PARTICIPATE according to South American students and staff or European students and staff. For South American candidates, please note that in order to be an eligible candidate, you must have not resided nor have carried out your main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries. (This rule does not apply to Target group 3 candidates). Please, remember to fill in the online form in English. During the application process, it is not possible to save data and continue later. Once started, the form must be completed. We recommend you to read all the instructions and prepare all the documents beforehand.

Technical requirements It is advisable to apply online using one of the following browsers: Internet Explorer version 5, 6, 7 and 8, Firefox 3 and Opera 9. Otherwise, it is possible to encounter some technical problems. Make sure that the browser allows JavaScript and cookies.

Personal data All Personal Data fields are obligatory. Your last name and name have to appear as in your passport. You should provide us with your valid e-mail address because all the communication between you and us will be realised via mail. In your phone number please, include the country code.

Host institution and programme you wish Before filling in your preferences regarding your host university and study field, please study the information on the following website: STUDY FIELDS. The information on the website summarizes the available study possibilities at each host university and, most importantly, the language in which the courses are given. In some cases, you can find the specific website addresses to find more detailed information about the study programmes. Please, be aware that you should only apply for a study field of which you master the language sufficiently to follow the courses. And, of course, this study field (study programme) should also be in accordance with your current or previous study programme. IT IS ONLY POSSIBLE TO APPLY TO ONE COUNTRY PER PRIORITY. E.g. If you apply for the University of Deusto (Spain) in your 1st choice, you cant choose any un iversity in Spain for your 2nd and 3rd choice. Important notes: In case of Doctorate mobility, we highly recommend you to go online and find the research lines offered by the Host University. Your research topic/plan must be directly related to the areas of expertise than can be provided at the Host University. Successful doctorate applications must have a match between what is requested in the research topic by the applicant and what can be offered by the Host University. In case of Academic and administrative Staff Mobility you should select the Host University and the faculty in which you would like to realise your mobility.

Language competences You should prove your command in the language in which the courses are led. It is compulsory to attach the corresponding certificate.

Reference We will consult the references you specify in your application. Therefore, it is important to give the correct and total contact data of your referee. It is required: name, institution, email, address and phone number. Please remember that you are obliged to fill this section in.

Personal statement Please indicate what particular skills and abilities make you an excellent candidate, why you are applying for this Erasmus Mundus Action 2 Programme and explain your academic interests and your work experience (if relevant).

Compulsory requirements Your application form will only be considerated for selection process if you have all the compulsory documents attached. Uploading of admission documents: Please, remember that all the documents should be translated into English (as it is the working language of the Consortium) and relevant to the type of mobility. The only allowed format of the scanned document is PDF, JPG or DOC. The maximum size of the file is 1MB. The docs of the same category should be scanned in only ONE file, for example: all the language certificates should be merged into ONE file.

Doctorate - Passport - Proof of registration (if Target group 1) at partner university - Diploma leading to PhD (Bachelor and Master) - Transcript of records - Language level test - Research plan - Proof of TG3 belonging (for TG3 applicants only)

Post-doctorate - Passport - Proof of registration (if Target group 1) at partner university - Doctorate certificate (Bachelor, Master and Doctorate ) - Language level test - Research plan - CV in English - Proof of TG3 belonging (for TG3 applicants only)

Staff - Passport - Proof of registration (if Target group 1) at partner university - CV in English - Work plan - Proof of TG3 belonging (for TG3 applicants only)

Academic data All data concerning the level of education (and diploma) required for your type of mobility are compulsory. Concerning each level required for the type of mobility, you should remember to put the following data: Institution Name, Location, Start Date, End Date, Name of Programme/Degree and Average mark. In order to be eligible, you must have the required documents. At the moment you are applying, you should possess the diploma/certificate requested for the type of mobility you have been selected for. An overview of the requirements for each mobility type can be found in the above table. In order to apply to any type of mobility (except for Undergraduate mobility) you should have successfully accomplished the previous programme. For example, if you are applying to: Master mobility, you should have your Bachelor degree at the time of applying; Doctorate mobility, you should have your Bachelor and Master degree at the time of applying; Post-Doctorate mobility, you should have your Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degree at the time of applying.

Submission of the online registration form Note that you do not have a complete application until you have done 4 steps (register, apply, upload required documents and close). The application for EMA2 Lot 14 SUD-UE programme is divided into 4 steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. Registration for an account. Application for course/programme together with personal information. Upload the required documents. After this 3rd step, you must close your application. Only closed applications will be considered during the selection process. To close your application, follow the instructions on the upload page.

Call of applications results Please note that it is not possible to obtain any information on the processing of your application or the selection results. You will be informed about the selection results by email. Non successful applicants will receive the instructions to be followed for the appeal process in the official communication of selection results.
