TEXT 1 nikhila-ruti-mauli-ratna-ml dyuti-nrjita-pda-pakajnta ayi mukta-kulair upsyamna paritas tv hari-nma saraymi nikhila-of all; ruti-the Vedas; mauli-crown; ratna-jewels; ml-necklace; dyuti-effulgence; nrjita-worshiped; pda-feet; pakaja-lotus; anta-tips of the toes; ayi-O!; mukta-kulai-by the liberated souls; upsyamanam-adored; paritas-compoletely; tvm-You; hari-of Hari; nma-name; saraymi-I take shelter. O Hari-nma! The tips of the toes of Your lotus feet are constantly being worshiped by the glowing radiance emanating from the string of gems known as the Upaniads, the crown jewels of all the Vedas. You are eternally adored by liberated souls, such as Nrada and ukadeva. O Hari-nma! I take complete shelter of You.* TEXT 2 jaya nmadheya muni-vnda-geya he jana-rajanya param akarkte tvam andard api mang udrita nikhilogra-tpa-paal vilumpasi jaya-all glories; nmadheya-O holy name; muni-of sages; vnda-by the multitudes; geya-chanted; he-O!; jana-of the people; rajanya-for the happiness; param-supreme; akara-of syllables; kte-the form; tvam-You; andard-without respect; api-even; mang-once; udrita-spoken; nikhila-all; ugra-terrible; tpa-tortures; paal-abundance; vilumpasi-you take away. O Hari-nma, all glories to You! Sung by all the sages, You are the supreme combination of syllables, and You bring transcendental bliss to all people. Even if a person utters You only once disrespectfully, still You relieve his many extreme sufferings.

yad-bhso 'py udyan kavalita-bhava-dhvnta-vibhavo da tattvndhnm api diati bhakti-praayinm janas tasyodtta jagati bhagavan-nma-tarae kt te nirvaktu ka iha mahimna prabhavati

yad-bhso-the dim light of which; api-even; udyan-rising; kavalita-swallow up; bhava-of repeated birth and death; dhvnta-darkness; vibhava-power; da-of the eyes; tattva-to the truth; andhnm-blind; api-even; diati-indicates; bhakti-devotional service; praayinm-causing; jana-people; tasya-of Him; udtta-exalted; jagati-in Page 1

the world; bhagavan-of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; nma-of the name; tarae-O sun; kt-pious person; te-of You; nirvaktu-to describe; ka-who?; iha-here; mahimna-glory; prabhavati-is able. O sun of the Holy Name, even a dim glimmer of Your splendor swallows up the powerful darkness of materialistic life and gives those who are blind to the truth the vision to follow the path of pure devotional service. Who in this world, even if learned and pious, can fully describe Your transcendental glory?

TEXT 4 yad-brahma-skt-kti-nihaypi vinam yti vin na bhogai apaiti nma sphuraena tat te prrabdha-karmeti virauti veda yad-brahma-Brahman; skt-direct; kti-activity; nihay-faith; api-also; vinam-to destruction; yti-goes; vin-without; na-not; bhogai-enjoyment; apaiti-attains; nma-of the name; sphuraena-by the appearance (in one's consciousness); tat-that; te-of You; prrabdha-karma-reactions to fruitive activities; iti-thus; virauti-declares; veda-the Vedas. O Holy Name, the Vedas declare that meditation on the impersonal Brahman cannot bring freedom from karmic reactions, that they have to be enjoyed or suffered, but that when You manifest in one's consciousness all karma at once disappears. TEXT 5 aghadamana-yaodnandanau nandasno kamalanayana-gopcandra-vndvanendr praatakarua-kv ity aneka-svarpe tvayi mama ratir uccair vardhat nmadheya aghadamana-crusher of Agha; yaodnandanau-darling child of Yaod; nandasno-son of Nanda Mahrja; kamala-nayana-lotus-eyed one; gop-candra-moon of the gops; vndvana-indr-Lord of Vndvana; praata-karua-You who are merciful to those who surrender to You; kau-Ka; iti-thus; aneka-many; svarpe-forms; tvayi-in You; mama-of me; rati-love; uccair-greatly; vardhatm-may increase; nmadheya-Holy Names. O Holy Name, You have many forms, such as Aghadamana (Crusher of Aghsura), Yaodnandana (Darling Child of Yaod), Nandasnu (Son of Nanda), Kamalanayana (Lotus-eyed One), Gopcandra (Moon of the Gops), Vndvanendra (King of Vndvana), Praatakarua (He Who Is Merciful to the Surrendered Souls), and Ka. I pray that my love for You in Your many forms may greatly increase.

yas tasmin vihitpardha-nivaha pr samantd bhaved syenedam upsya so 'pi hi sadnandmbudhau majjati vcya-the object described; vcakam-the words that describe the object; iti-thus; udeti-manifested; bhavata-of You; nma-O Holy Name; svarpa-forms; dvaya-two; prvasmt-the first (form); param-the second (form); eva-indeed; hanta-indeed; karua-(more) compassion; tatra-there; api-even; jnmahe-we know; ya-one who; tasmin-to that (form, i.e., the first form); vihita-commits; apardha-of offenses; nivaha-a multitude; pr-living entity; samantd-completely; bhaved-may be; syena-with the mouth; idam-this; upsya-worshiping; sa api-whoever; hi indeed; sad-eternal; nanda-of bliss; ambudhau-in the ocean; majjati-immerse. O Holy Name, You are manifested in two forms: the Supreme Person You designate, and the sound vibration that designates. We know that the second form is more merciful than the first, because even if a person offends Your first form in many ways, You plunge him into an ocean of transcendental bliss if he serves Your second form with his voice. TEXT 7 sditrita-janrti-raye ramya-cid-ghana-sukha-svarpie nma gokula-mahotsavya te ka pra-vapue namo nama sdita-destroy; rita-(who take) shelter; jana-of the people; rti-sufferings; raye-abundance; ramya-charming; cit-spirit; ghana-intense; sukha-happiness; sva-rpie-own form; nma-O Holy Name; gokula-for Gokula; mah-utsavya-great festival; te-of You; ka-of Lord Ka; pra-the perfect and full; vapue-transcendental form; nama-obeisances; nama-obeisances. O Holy Name! You destroy the many sufferings of those who take shelter of You. You are the very form of intense spiritual bliss, a festival of happiness for Gokula, and the perfect and complete form of Lord Ka. Again and again I bow to You.

TEXT 8 nrada-vojjvana sudhormi-nirysa-mdhur-pra tva ka-nma kma sphura me rasane rasena sad nrada-of Nrada; v-of the v; ujjvana-the life; sudh-of nectar; rmi-waves; nirysa-essence; mdhur-sweetness; pra-flood; tvam-You; ka-of Ka; nma-O Holy Name; kmam-if You wish; sphura-please appear; me-of me; rasane-of the tongue; rasena-with nectar; sad-always. O enlivener of Nrada's v, O flood of the waves of sweet nectar, O Holy Name of Lord Ka, please forever manifest on my tongue with all Your nectarean sweetness. Page 3
