Without A Touch

I love you on a feather bed,

woven from a web of words unsaid.
Touching you with thoughts slowly scrolling up a screen--
sweet mesmerizing murmurs never spoken, only seen.
My hands caress cool plastic keys,
a wistful want for softer ecstasies.
I type my tongue between your thighs
waiting for your silent cries.
New Roman fonted fingertips
trace my dreams of moist rose lips.
I sit frozen staring at the screen-
while your words glimmer with a warm wet sheen.
What wonderous intimacy you give to me
when you kiss my soul with lips I cannot see.

Soulmate
I sat here alone, wrapped in layers of self
And looked to the sky, in its vast, empty blue,
But it's not alone, for the sun is its mate;
Its children the stars and the clouds and the moon.

Yet I sat alone -- half a soul to be sure.

My heart struggled outward to look through the world
For one who will find me to bond with my soul
To show that my deepest of thoughts can be heard.

I knew he would find me someday

To lift my lone soul from forgotten embrace,
To join with my heart and to make my soul whole,
To give me the wings made of love's perfect faith.

For my life on this Earth was not meant to be lived

All alone; lost in the dark and never to share
The tears found in laughter and sorrow and peace.
--Alone, all alone without someone to care.

But when we are given a life on this Earth

A beautiful plan yet unfolds right away,
So one never must be but one in this life,
But company sure is provided each day.

Like stars of the sky we are given a home

Where parents can love us and show us the way,
For they've gone before to exper'ence the joy
Of learning and growing and loving each day.

And then when we reach of that age that's most new,

When parents' sweet guidance show wings on our hearts,
We fly from the nest for to find our soulmates
To create our own lives as though it were art.

And this age exists now to make our souls wise.

Alone we must be when our hearts start to fly
To teach us that wings come in pairs on this Earth
That souls must have mates -- as the sun has the sky.

We lay intertwined, wrapped in layers of ourselves.

My heart has come back and you've set my soul free
And life never more will be lonely -- but whole--
As soulmates together in this life we'll be.

A recent exchange with a very special friend got me to thinking and researching
the concept of soulmates. We often think about a soulmate being a person, usually
of the opposite sex, who completes us. Usually, we involve ourselves with this
individual and oftentimes we marry he or she whom we perceive to be our soulmate.

This is what I've found, in a nutshell, regarding soulmates....

Classic Meaning of Soulmates

Ok, so where does this concept originate?

The concepts of soulmates arose from Greek mythology. According to the story, our
ancestors once had 2 heads, 4 arms. They did something to offend a god so that god
punished them by splitting them down the middle, resulting in the creation of
humans. As a punishment, we are condemned to spend our lives searching for the
other half, our soulmates. This concept has even been immortalized through song,
The Origin of Love, by Hedwig and the Angry Inch. (Search for it on myspace music
and then get the lyrics on lyrics.com) Its absolutely beautiful.

Spiritual Soulmate Concepts

Many religions and spiritual paths believe in reincarnation and the concept of
karma. Through reincarnation, soulmates may spend many lifetimes together in past
lives. Other spiritual methods of searching for one's soulmate are astrology,
numerology, palm reading, personality types, and magick. Modern spritual paths
often blend western and eastern philosophies.

Companion Soulmates
These are people that we encounter through their life. These are usually friends,
teachers, mentors, or other people who have helped you achieving a life's goal or
helped you out of a crisis.
Twin Soulmates
These types of soulmate are your closest friends or a person whom you really click
with. According to those who believe in reincarnation, you have already met them
in a past life, and in this life you are continuing the relationship. There is an
emotional bond between these soulmates and each is able to sense the feelings of
each other..

Twin Flame Soulmates

This is the most popular type of soulmate. There is usually one twin flame
soulmate for each of us. This is the one we search for, wish for, write about and
pine over. Twin flame soulmates have spent multiple lifetimes together in past
lives. There is incredible chemistry and attraction towards each other. They
"complete" each other and only few lucky people are able to find their twin flame
soulmate. Twin flame soulmates, if separated, usually suffer enormous pain.

So all this got me to thinking, about my own beliefs about soulmates.

I believe that there are definitely different types of soulmates who come into our
lives for one reason or another.

There is the spiritual soulmate where you feel what they feel, like a grip on your
own soul;
