College of Agriculture Student Council (CASC), the governing student body of the UP College of Agriculture, is a duly mandated student institution aimed at intensifying its services through giving back to its constituents as well as the community and to rendering promotions in the field of agriculture and all other related degree programs. With the goal of promoting competitiveness, unity and cooperation among agricultural youth leaders as future pillars of this important sector, we are inviting you to attend the Philippine Agricultural Youth Leaders Summit 2014 (PAYLS 2014) with the theme of Maneuvering the Parallax: Re-envisioning Agriculture and Youths Future. It will be held on February 8, 2014, Saturday, from 9:00 am 6:00 pm in SEARCA Auditorium, University of the Philippines Los Banos, College, Laguna. This summit will gather 250 agricultural youth leaders across the country that will primarily determine and address the national agricultural agenda through interactive discussions, workshops, and talks from relevant individuals that contribute most for the betterment of this sector. In line with this, we would like to invite you to share your success story as an entrepreneur in Organic Agriculture. Your response will be very much appreciated. Rationale
The UP College of Agriculture Student Council believes that the goal to push forth a more modernized, appealing and enjoyable Philippine Agriculture would be possible once competitiveness, unity and cooperation among agricultural youth leaders, the future pillars of this important sector, are scientifically and rationally established. In line with this, a one-day summit is created for the youth, through the youth and by the youth; primarily to serve as an avenue that will address the vision that the youth have to prosper. Through this event, they could be guided and be equipped with a strong desire to determine and eventually strengthen the agricultural agenda through series of interactive discussions and workshops. Its relevance to nation-buliding is believed to entice the youth involved to clear and make solutions for prevalent agricultural issues and concerns within the national and local levels. Together, we aspire everyone to invest time and efforts for the betterment of this sector.

Eligibility 1. Filipino Citizen 2. Must be 15-25 y/o at the time of the summit 3. Good moral character 4. Good oral and written communication skills 5. Good medical condition 6. A. For high school students: enrolled in any Rural or agricultural schools recognized by Department of Education; or member of Supreme Student Government; or member of an agricultural-related organization. B. For College Students: enrolled in any university/college that offers agricultural-related degree courses e.g., BS Agriculture, BS Agricultural Economics, BS Agribusiness Management, BS Food Technology, BS Agricultural Education, BS Agricultural Engineering, BS Agricultural Biotechnology, BS Agricultural Technology, BS Fisheries/Aquaculture, BS Agroforestry, and/or related diplomas and certificates.

Areas Covered by the Summit 1. 2. Leadership in Philippine Agriculture. This topic will feature the possible roles and actions of Agricultural Youth Leaders that may practice to successfully maneuver the parallaxes for the future of Philippine Agriculture. Venturing to Agriculture: a brighter side of unlimited opportunities. This specific area will talk about how Agriculture is intensely regarded as an important sector in the country; thus, it provides a major re-orientation in the part of the youth on how brighter it could be if the nation would boost the number of players dealing with the sector. Moreover, this segment would provide concrete ways for the youth to encourage every citizen, regardless of their age, to embrace the unlimited opportunities Agriculture would offer to them. Legally-new: a discussion on Philippine Agricultures newly passed laws. A chance to have an interactive discussion with the Senate Chairperson on Agriculture and Food Committee, Sen Cynthia Villar and AgriPartyList Representative Hon.Delphine G. Lee will be given to the delegates after new major laws have been delivered. Delegates are expected to be critical and rational at this segment. and Agricultural Economics sector, Practitioners of Cooperatives and Community Organization; Scientific Community specifically from the fields of Animal Science, Food Science, Crop Protection, Crop Science or Agricultural Systems. These areas would basically initiate the youth to become more visionary in the future for the agricultural sector. Applications for Agriculture in the Modern World. Google Developers Group (GDG) Philippines will impart mobile and online applications made especially to harness the dynamics of agriculture. Furthermore, this portion will show how this would be very useful in the Philippine setting. Communication in Agriculture: Views and Its Importance in Agricultural Training and Technology Transfer. DZMMs Sa Kabukiran Anchor Ka Louie Tabing and Agricultural Training Institute Representatives would give interactive and equipping talks about the power of communications to carry out Agricultural Development in communities up to the national level. The Future of Agrarian Reform: Which Should be better? Tracing from the status quo of Agrarian Reform, Present Constraints of the scheme; up to what the future picture of Agrarian Reform would look like will be discussed. AgriYouth Speaks: My Venture as an Agricultural Youth. Delegates, during the application period are given the chance to work on their speeches that reflect their roles as productive individuals in the sector. Their points of view and general perspectives could be heard in the summit by passing a 1000-word speech that would be delivered at most ten (10) minutes. Delegates are allowed to elaborate on the following themes: a. Agricultural Youth as effective Outlets to foster Agricultural Awareness among the younger ones b. Wishful possibility: If I were to pass a Law related to Agriculture.. c. Success stories in our agricultural community: What have we done? d. ITech: Technology for Agriculture that I can share e. Agro-ecological Knowledge for Agricultures Future
