Angie came to this country from Peru when she was 18 years old.

After working for several years, she decided to go back to school. Now in her early 30's, she is currently a student in the Human Services Tech program at the local community college. After graduating in May 2014, she plans to attend a local university to pursue a degree in social work. Angie's first interaction with Catholic Charities was as an student intern during spring semester 2013. Since then, she has worked for the agency a few hours a week where her bilingual language skills are greatly needed and appreciated. As soon as Angie heard about the Mentor Program she expressed an interest in being a mentor. From her own experiences, she understands the adjustments for a youth arriving in the United States, and feels she can make a difference by helping them maneuver through the maze of their new environment. She looks forward to supporting a youth's academic success, and helping a youth understand new cultural norms and expectations. Angie is excited about making a difference in a youth's life, and is looking forward to being matched with a youth in the very near future.
