This guide describes all the options, you may find in the HP ProBook Installer (based on v. 6.1.10)

OS X Support kexts
The options from this group are mandatory for all ProBooks. They will: auto-detect the OS X version you have installed. patch some vital kexts like AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext and AppleHDA.kext, according to the OS X version you have installed and the selected model (4x30s or 4x40s). patch the Intel graphics framebuffer kexts (AppleIntelSNBGraphicsFB.kext and AppleIntelFramebufferCapri.kext) with the HDMI audio patch, according to the OS X version you have installed and the selected model (4x30s or 4x40s). install all the ProBook-related kexts (VoodooHDAController.kext, ACPIBatteryManager.kext, GenericUSBxHCI.kext, ACPIPoller.kext, FakeSMC.kext, HSSDBlockStorage.kext, JMB38X.kext, IOath3kfrmwr.kext, AppleIntelE1000e.kext and RealtekRTL8111.kext) There are options for every ProBook series, supported by the Installer: ProBook 4x30s ProBook 4x40s ProBook 6x60b/EliteBook 8x60p ProBook 6x70b/EliteBook 8x70p ProBook 4x0 G0

DSDT generator/patcher
The options from this group will extract your vanilla DSDT, patch it with all ProBook-specific patches and save it in /Extra. They are separated in several subgroups: ProBook model - the first mandatory group. Contains the model-specific patches for every supported ProBook series. Fan behavior - this group contains patches for controlling the fan behavior. You can choose one of the following: the original fan patch by BigDonkey and co, the new fan patch by RehabMan or the stock fan behavior with readings, which can be seen in the HWMonitor

app.

Display type - the second mandatory group, you should choose one of the patches in this group, according to your ProBook display: Low-resolution screen (15" and smaller display with resolution 1366x768) or High-resolution display (17" screen with resolution 1600x900 or 15"/17" screen, upgraded to 1080p). Atheros 9285 - optional, but mandatory for the owners of ProBooks with Atheros 9285 WiFi/Bluetooth combo cards. Broadcom 4322x - optional, for the owners of BCM94322x-based WiFi cards. Intel USB 3.0 - optional, this patch is an alternative of GenericUSBXHCI.kext. Only for use with Intel USB 3.0 controllers (mostly the Ivy Bridge models). Almost all patched can be applied on already patched DSDT, so you can change the fan behavior and your screen type on-the-fly, the only exception is the patches from the first group, they cannot be applied on DSDTs, patched already with them. In order to create (successfully) a new patched DSDT, you have two options: to boot the ProBook with the DSDT=Null flag and then run the Installer. to (re)move the current DSDT.aml out of the /Extra folder, reboot and then run the Installer.

SSDT Generator
This option will generate a SSDT.aml file, according to the CPU you have installed in your ProBook and place it in /Extra. In order to get the native CPU speed steps, you should select this option.

System definitions
This group contains options, which will generate an unique Mac SN and install a SMBios.plist file in /Extra. You should select any definition, according to the CPU model (i3/i5, i7 dual core or i7 quad core) and the CPU architecture (Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge).

Chameleon
This option will install the Chameleon bootloader. A mandatory option for all fresh installs. You can also use it to update your Chameleon version, if you have any older.

Optional hardware-specific fixes

This group contains options, which generally are not needed for the normal work of the operating system, but in some cases they should be installed: AHCI patch (10.8.x only) - this option will patch IOAHCIFamily.kext, located in /S/L/E. Use it only if you have the "STILL WAITING FOR ROOT DEVICE" problem on your ProBook. AHCI 3rd party kext - this option will install AHCI_3rdParty_SATA.kext in your /S/L/E. Use it only if the OS doesn't show (for some reason) your optical drive (whatever it is). Graphic glitch fix - use this option only if you receive many graphical glitches (artefacts) on your screen. EDID generator - this option will find and install the EDID information for your display in /S/L/E/Displays/Overrides. Recommended. Fanreset.dylib mod - mostly for 4x30s owners, this option will install a modified version of Fanreset.dylib in /Extra/modules, which will allow you to use non-whitelisted WiFi cards.

Misc OS X fixes
This group contains some additional optional fixes like: Color profiles - this option will install some extra color profiles. Sleep fix - the options from this subgroup will change the sleep behavior of your laptop, the first option will swith the sleep mode to save-to-ram mode and the second one will switch it back to the default save-to-disk mode. blinkscreen - this option will install the new brightness workaround utility blinkscreen by RehabMan. Screen brightness fix - this set of options is another workaround for the brightness of your screen.

Extra tools
This group contains some extra useful apps, which can be installed on you laptop: Old kext remover - this one will remove all obsolete ProBook-related kexts from /S/L/E. Chameleon Wizard - helps you to customize org.chameleon.Boot.plist, SMBios.plist, the DSDT and the theme of your bootloader. Kext Wizard - useful tool for repairing the permissions of all kexts and rebuilding the kext caches. It also can be used for kexts installations/upgrades. HWMonitor - helps you to monitor your system stats like the power state, the CPU temperature, & frequencies of your CPU cores. Comes in two versions: for Snow Leopard and for Lion and above. Local Time Toggle - if you have any problems with syncing the time between all OSes, you

may have installed. Mostly for multi-boot users. MaciASL - a powerfull DSDT editor and patcher by SJ_UnderWater. Show All Files - use it to show and hide all hidden files in your system. Quartz Debug - part of the Xcode supplemental tools, it can be used to enable the HiDpi resolutions for the whole OS X interface.
