Form 3 - Deviation from Self-Assessment of Personal Attributes

To Be Competed By Student Students Name: ______________________________________________________________________ In the grid below you can summarize your self assessment (how you rated yourself) and the ratings from two other people who know you well. The deviation is the difference between your rating of yourself on a particular att ribute and the other persons rating of you. For example, if you rate yourself as 2 and the other person rates you as 5, then the deviation is 3. If you rate yourself as 4 and the other person rates you as 3, the deviation is 1. The lower the deviation number the closer your image of yourself is to how other people see you. If your deviation is above 2, then you might want to better understand why the discrepancy exists, between how you see yourself and how others see you. A higher self rating, for example, may not necessarily be false, it may simply mean that you know you have that quality but you are not demonstrating it well, where others recognize it. Remember, the purpose of this exercise is not to defend your self image or to attack others for seeing you differently, but rather to thank them for their contribution and to learn more about yourself so that in future, you can set more accurate personal goals and more accurately identify qualities you may wish to strengthen. Self-awareness is the first step in becoming an effective manager. Attributes Self Rating Rating Person #1 Deviation Rating Person #2 Deviation
