Centre for Concurrent Disorders

The Centre for Concurrent Disorders is a community-based, outpatient service funded
by Vancouver Coastal Health. The program supports those individuals who present with
both a chemical dependency disorder and a serious psychiatric illness (such as
clinical depression, anxiety, or thought disorders).
The program promotes accessibility and treatment. It matches client needs to clinical
services and includes programs for Youth, Adults, Aftercare / Maintenance, Alumni, and
Families.

• The Dual Diagnosis Program of Greater Vancouver is an outpatient service offering
limited access to one-on-one counselling, an addictions specialist, a psychiatrist, and a
resource centre. For information call and leave a message at 604-255-9843
• Vancouver Community Mental Health Services also offers a concurrent disorders
program specifically for youth 12 to 24 in age. To find out more, contact 604-251-2264
• There are residential treatment programs available in the lower mainland including
Berman House in Vancouver 604-254-6065
• Support Groups like Double Trouble, Dual Diagnosis Anonymous, Dual Recovery
Anonymous and others offer support. Call the Alcohol and Drug Referral Service at
604-660-9382 or 1-800-663-1441 for groups in your area
• Some addiction treatment centres accept people with concurrent disorders, but these
services are not geared towards the specific needs of people living with mental illness

3.2.1 Here to Help – online mental health and substance use resource comprised of a
group of seven leading provincial mental health and addictions nonprofit
agencies working together as the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions
Information. Since 2003, they have been combining efforts to help individuals
and families better manage mental health and substance use problems.
