Nu demult, am citit o reflecie a lui Paul Valry care mi-a inspirat rndurile de fa. Ea sun n traducere liber cam aa: creaia crea ia original se declaneaz n condiiile constrngerii i se degradeaz n starea de libertate ! Pare negarea valorii libertilor artistului. Nu-i aa ? Doar la prima vedere ! Pentru c, dac schimbm planul de referin, arhitectura, cea care ne-a strns, pe noi toi, n atelierele acestei coli, e departe de a fi numai un exerciiu estetic. Arhitectura se valorific tocmai n limitele contrngerilor funcionale pentru ca s toarne n forme artistice, nevoi i idealuri, ambiii i neliniti, materiale i tehnologii, mode i idei fixe, , etc. bugetul clientului, i uneori, nepuinta noastr de a le cuprinde pe toate ! Ins, raiunea cu care le amestecm nu trebuie s ne subjuge visul de a le drui celorlali o lume mai frumoas . In schimb, libertatea total e asemeni derutei de a construi o cas n plin deert. Neavnd repere, e .... simpl gratuitate ! Un secol i modifica de nenumarate ori "compasul" i arhitectura ultimilor ani st marturie. Morala istoriei arhitecturii se poate reduce la parafraza unui citat celebru: S ne temem de profesorul unei singure idei !

Not long ago, I have read one of Paul Valrys thoughts that inspired me to write this lines. It sounds like this: ...the original creation it starts in terms of constraint and is degrading in the state of freedom! This looks like the denial of the freedom of the artist, isnt it? Just at first sight ! Because, if we change the reference point, architecture, the one for whom we have gathered here, in this school, is far from beeing a mere esthetic exercise. Architecture it turns itself into account precisely in the limits of the functional constraints for being poured in the artistic forms, needs and ideeas, ambitions and anxieties materials and technologies, fashion and obsession ..................................... ..................................... , etc. the projects budget, and, sometimes, our helplessness to cover all this! But, the rationality with whom we mix them all, must not subdue our dream of offering a more beautiful world. In exchange, the absolute freedom is like the confusion of building a house in the middle of the desert . In the absence of the reference point it is ... pure gratuitousness. A century is changing feveral times the unit of measure and the architecture of the last years bear witness. The moral ofe the history of architecture can be reduced to paraphrase a well-known quotation: Be afraid of the teacher of a single ideea!

Atelierul de arhitectur, laborator de creaie, se configureaz ntr-o disciplin de baz n ceea ce privete formarea profesionistului arhitect de mine. Prelegerile susinute de fiecare coordonator de atelier sunt de natur s configureze o metod proprie de ndrumare care se nscrie ntr-o metodologie general de instruire obligatorie. Metodele moderne de educaie continu, definesc un model contemporan de formaie profesional menit s confere studenilor un pachet de competene constituit prin interconexiune n domeniul arhitecturii. Modelul de ndrumare mbin complementaritatea dintre exprimarea prin desen i reflexia teoretic. Programa analitic a anului 2 de studii urmrete cteva obiective importante: nelegerea arhitecturii ca o form complex de art; perceperea formei arhitecturale ca o rezultant ntre structurarea spaiului i a volumului material; definirea arhitecturii ca o stare de echilibru ntre forma pur i funciune; stimularea creativitii, sensibil la noutate i inovaie capabil s integreze domenii de studiu pluridisciplinare. Tematica este adaptat cerinelor sociale, modificrilor tehnologice i exigenelor estetice contemporane, nscriindu-se n direciile evolutive ale societii moderne cuprinznd studiul: spaiului arhitectural urban: public; privat. locuirii individuale: niruit, cuplat sau covor; izolat pe lot. elurile didactice generale se constituie ntr-un sistem coerent, structurat pe trei direcii: obiective; metodologie; rezultate. Obiectivele activitii desfurate la disciplina proiectare de arhitectur sunt: cunoaterea i nsuirea progresiv a gramaticii discursului arhitectural; studiul mijloacelor de limbaj i expresie arhitectural (element, spaiu, volum, form, funciune); dobndirea capacitii de percepere, configurare i redare a spaiului arhitectural; formarea gndirii proiective ca instrument i metod de concepie; nelegerea unui obiect arhitectural funcie de un anumit sistem de compoziie; rolul funciunii i structurii de rezisten n definirea formei de arhitectur; determinarea relaiilor ntre loc-form-funciune-semnificaie; unitatea dintre expresie i stil; dezvoltarea capacitilor de susinere a soluiilor arhitecturale propuse.

Metodologia de lucru precum i metodele de ndrumare sunt structurate n principal pe complementaritatea dintre sistemul de compunere liber, intuitiv i cel pe baza unor repere, reguli, modele. Concepia general de instruire este realizat prinurmtoarele mijloace: prezentri teoretice susinute de cadrele didactice pe parcursul ntregului an de studiu, parcurgerea de ctre studeni a unui material documentar obligatoriu, corecturi individuale i la panou, nsuirea unor tehnici variate de prezentare a proiectelor (desen, grafic, culoare, perspectiv, fatografie, simulare pe calculator, machete, etc.), iniierea n critica de arhitectur. Rezultatele sunt evaluate n cadrul unor comisii alctuite din cadrele didactice ndrumtoare ale atelierelor de proiectare, fiecare student avnd posibilitatea s-i prezinte demersul pe care l-a parcurs n elaborarea lucrrii i s-i susin opiunile personale. Proiectele i schiele de schi evaluate se prezint n cadrul unor expoziii, dnd posibilitatea unui comentariu global asupra rezultatelor obinute, lucrrile de excepie fiind premiate. Cele mai valoroase lucrri fac obiectul unui catalog, la fel cum este cel de fa, care se constituie ntr-un material documentar pentru seriile viitoare.

The architectural workshop, creation laboratory, is configured as a basic disciplin for the formation of the young architect. Each workshop coordinator defines a specific teaching methodology but within a general approved curricula. The modern methods of continuous education defines a contemporary model of professional formation destined to ofer a set of abilities made up from interconection in the field of architecture. The theaching model implies the coexistence of architectural drawing and theoretical support. The curricula for the second years follows some important objectives: understanding architecture as a form of art; understanding architectural shapes as a combination between spatial structure and use of materials; defining architecture as a stat of equilibrium between abstract / pure forms and function; stimulating creativeness, sensitive to innovation and novelty, capable to integrate in design multiple aspects and border domains. The thematic is adapted to the current social needs, the technological changes and to the contemporary aesthetical exigencies, joining the evolutive courses of the modern society, therefore the study includes: architectural urban space: public and private individual dwelling: detached, semi-detached, row houses The general didactical goal is a coerent system, following three directions: objectives methodology end results The objectives of the 2nd year architectural design chair are: knowledge and progressive understanding of architectural language; basic means used to express and comunicate in architecture (single element, space, solids, forms, function); developing skills for perception, configuration and assessment of architectural space; specific projective thinking as a tool and methodology for designing practice; sensitive reading of an architectural object as compositional system; function and structure as definitive in shaping architecture; deterministic social relations site form function meaning; styles expression unity; theoretical explanations for proposed solutions. Working methodology and learning principles are organized to respond to free intuitive approach and in the same time to ensure rules, models and regulatory systems. The general formative concept is sustained by following means: theoretical presentations by all professors, compulsory documentary research, individual assistance and group activities, constant improvement in representation techniques (hand drawing, graphics, color, geometry and perspective, photography, computer simulation, scale models), discussions and initiation in critical approach in architecture.

Results are evaluated in boards of examiners , composed by the teaching stuff of each individual design workshop , each student must present his ideas, solutions and the theoretical approach used in elaborating the project. The assisted projects as well as the one-day projects evaluated are afterwards exhibited for generating an overview of the entire activity, and the exceptional works receive a prize. Most valuable projects become reference for the next workshops, and some are illustrated in the present catalogue.

n cadrul temei generale Spaiu - Structur se propune amenajarea zonei intrrii cu amplasarea unui nou pavilion de acces la Muzeul Tehnic din Bucureti, aflat n Parcul Carol. Avei libertatea de a v restrnge la o intervenie minimal (un spaiu de control i acces, un mic spaiu de depozitare i un grup sanitar pentru vizitatori) sau de a introduce anumite funciuni suplimentare (cafeterie, spaii comerciale, spaii de expunere temporar). Suprafaa desfurat nu va depi 200 mp. : Tema fiind prima din ciclul de proiecte ale anilor II-III, ncearc articularea subiectelor de factur mai abstract din anul I cu unul concret. Aceasta presupune stimularea nevoii de cutare a unei fundamentri teoretice, ca suport pentru viitorul obiect de arhitectur propus. Aceast cutare pornete de la aezarea ntr-un context - att fizic, material ct i arhitectural, istoric.
Obiectivul studiului

As part of the main topic - Space-Structure, the theme proposed the design of the entrance area, including a new access pavilion, for the Technical Museum Bucharest located in the Carol Park. You can choose a minimal intervention (a space of access and control, a small storage and a toilet for visitors) or you can include some suplimentary functions (cafeteria, comercial spaces, temporary exhibition). The total area will be no more than 200 sqm. : As the first topic of the 2nd and 3rd year cycle, the subject aims to articulate the more abstract exercises from the 1st year with a more concrete one. This requires to stimulate a theoretical substantiation, as ground for the new architectural object. The context - phisical, material, architectural and historical - is the first step in serach for the answer.
Study objectives

PREZENTAREA STUDENTILOR Soluia propus urmrete amenajarea zonei intrrii n Muzeul Tehnic din Bucureti prin amplasarea unui nou pavilion de acces aflat n Parcul Carol. Am dorit s m restrng la o intervenie minimal (un spaiu de control i un grup sanitar pentru vizitatori, respectiv personal - spaii inchise). Spaiul deschis urmrete configuraia terenului, provocnd un dialog ntre percepia formelor naturale precum i cea dat de structur n sine/ material. Scenariul ales solicit vizitatorul, i promite o rezolvare a spaiului public prin atragerea ctre necunoscut, un spaiu ce se ngusteaz i care l nglobeaz pe acesta oferindu-i posibilitatea accederii ntr-o alt zon deschis - mai deschis dect precedenta i anume expoziia din curtea muzeului. Socializarea cu terenul se face printr-un gest intim, aproape imperceptibil, implicit n scopul identificrii criteriilor estetice i de atitudine n relationarea structurii cu fondul construit i peisager.

STUDENTS' PRESENTATION The site situated in Cotroceni, is a rectangle shaped garden with trees grown on the contour. After studying part of Cotroceni , beside the usual conclusions about building heights, sun study, et. I noticed a special attention of the people living there for their gardens. The project started with the pursuit of a relationship between the house and the garden and how these two types of space can interact. The house expands in length and disposes itself on the contour of the site, leaving space for the garden, with a South South-West orientation. The second floor, arose on piles, frees the site and vanishes in the treetops, allowing the space to flow from East to West. A type of covered but open space appears beneath the arose volume. The house inhales the garden through large windows so the garden becomes the heart of site.

PREZENTAREA STUDENTILOR Exerciiul de fa a dorit s rspund ct mai coerent temei de proiectare. Am urmtit ca cele doua case s fie percepute ca o singur locuin, un ntreg. O prim idee a fost aceea de a sublinia ruperea de direcie a limitei dintre cele doua loturi. Acest demers a generat doua volume alungite, care urmresc laturile parcelei. Primul este frnt, pentru a putea prelua paralelismul laturii adiacente. Aceste corpuri sunt articulate de dou tuburi de sticl cu rol de circulaie, flancate de sere descoperite.

STUDENTS' PRESENTATION My project wanted to respond as coherent as possible to the design theme. I wanted it to be perceived as one house, one whole, despite the fact that there are two dwellings. A first idea was to highlight the form of the boundary between the sites. This approach has resulted in 2 elongated volumes, which follow the edges of the terrain. One volume is torned, in order to assume the parallelism of the site. These bodies are articulated by 2 glass tubes with a role in the movement, flanked by revealed greenhouses.

Pe malul lacului Snagov, intre doua alei pietonale situate la cote de nivel diferite, pe un teren care coboara in panta spre lac, se propune realizarea unui pavilion belvedere. belvedere Tema propusa urmareste intelegerea relatiei intre forma arhitecturala, structura si cadrul ambiental. Se cere realizarea unei constructii acoperite, alcatuita dintr-o platforma orizontala si terase descoperite aflate la acelasi nivel sau la nivele diferite. Suprafata desfasurata a spatiului acoperit va fi de cca. 70 mp, avand inaltimea maxima de 4,5 m.

On the lakeside of the Snagov lake, between two pedestrian walkways, situated at different levels, on a site that is descending to the lake, we propose the study of a belleview pavilion. pavilion The main objective for the chosen subject is to understand the relationship between the architectural form, the structure and the environment. The main requirement is to design a covered construction, composed by a horizontal platform and uncovered terraces situated at the same level or at different levels. The total area for the covered space will be aprox. 70 sqm, with the height of 4,5 m.

Un dezvoltator imobiliar construiete un ansamblu de locuinte niruite. Aceste case identice au cte o curte la strad i cte o curte n spate. Mobilarea casei precum i amenajarea curilor reprezint modalitatea de a personaliza imobilul. Tema propune amenajarea curii din spate. Aceasta are o suprafa de 70 mp. Se urmrete dezvoltarea capacitii de a concepe o amenajare arhitectural i peisager pentru o locuin iniruit.

An assembly of row houses is beeing built by a real estate developer. This identical houses have each a courtyard in front, to the street, and one in the back of the house. The interior design of the house as well as the design of the courtyards are the means to personalize the dwellings. The subject of this short project is the design proposal for the back yard of one of these houses. The surface of the courtyard is 70 sqm. The objective of the theme is to develope the capacity of imagining the architectural and lanscape design features that can build up a successful dwelling.

Se cere proiectarea unui modul destinat locuirii. Modulul va avea o structur uoar (lemn, metal), avnd funcionalitate provizorie i putnd fi demontat atunci cnd nu mai este necesar folosirea sa. Modulul de locuin va fi destinat unei familii de 2-4 persoane i va fi rezolvat pe un singur nivel. Se urmrete prevederea unui stoc de module prefabricate, aflate n administrarea Primariei Municipiului Bucureti, care pot fi la nevoie folosite ca locuine de urgent.

The theme has as purpose the design of a dwelling unit. The dwelling unit will have a light structure (wood, metal), and will have temporary function, being disassembled as soon as it is not longer needed. The dwelling unit will shelter a family with 2-4 members and will have only one floor. The goal is to make a number of such prefabricated units, destined to be administrated by the city council and used in cases of emergencies, or disasters.

Tema propus pentru studiu este o locuin unifamilial izolat, pentru minim 4 persoane, cu regim de nlime S(Ds) + P + E1 + E2 (parial sau mansard). Unul din obiectivele importante ale temei, pe lng rezolvarea funcional, constructiv i plastic adecvat cerinelor contemporane a fost i acela de nscriere ntr-un ansamblu constituit cu un anume specific, pe care amplasamentul ales nc l mai permite. Amplasamentul propus se afl n cartierul Cotroceni lng biserica Sf. Elefterie Vechi. Indiferent de opiune pentru amplasarea locuinei pe lot s-au respectat prevederile Codului Civil i POT = 40% , CUT = 1,3. Proiectul s-a desfurat n dou etape: prima etap a constat n analiza sitului i proiect preliminar cu predare la atelier iar a doua etap a constat n proiectul final. PREZENTAREA STUDENTILOR Terenul, aflat in Cotroceni, este o gradin de form dreptunghiular, cu vegetaia crescut perimetral. Din analiza zonei, in afara concluziile referitoare la studiile de nlime, raport plin-gol, etc. am observat o atenie deosebit a locuitorilor acelei zone pentru grdini. Proiectul a nceput prin cutarea unei relaii ntre cas i gradin i modul de interacionare al celor 2 tipuri de spaii - interior i exterior. Casa se dezvolt n lungime, se aeaz perimetral pe laturile nord i est, lsnd n mijlocul ei, orientat sud sud-vest, gradina. Suprafaa construit pe pmnt a fost redus la minimum. Etajul II , ridicat n aer pe piloni, elibereaz terenul, se pierde ntre copaci i permite spaiului sa curg liber pe direcia est-vest. Sub acest volum ridicat se creeaz un spaiu acoperit, dar deschis. Prin ferestrele mari dispuse inspre gradin, casa absoarbe spaiul exterior i gradina devine nucleul terenului.

The suggested topic is the design of a detached family house for a family having at least 4 members. The building height should be ground floor and two floors with a basement or a semi-basement. One of the main objective of the project, as well as solving the functional and constructiv problems and dealing with the aesthetic requirements of a contemporary dwelling, is to articulate the proposed building with the architectural context, having a certain character. The proposed site is in the Cotroceni area, near the St. Elefterie old church. Regardless of the position of the dwelling on the plot the proposal should follow the regulations of the Civil Code and a Site Occupacy Ratio = 0.40 and a maximum Floor Area Ratio = 1,3. The study consisted in 2 stages: first the analysis of the context and a preliminary proposal with discussions inside each teaching group and the second consisting of the final proposal. STUDENTS' PRESENTATION The site situated in Cotroceni, is a rectangle shaped garden with trees grown on the contour. After studying part of Cotroceni , beside the usual conclusions about building heights, sun study, et. I noticed a special attention of the people living there for their gardens. The project started with the pursuit of a relationship between the house and the garden and how these two types of space can interact. The house expands in length and disposes itself on the contour of the site, leaving space for the garden, with a South South-West orientation. The second floor, arose on piles, frees the site and vanishes in the treetops, allowing the space to flow from East to West. A type of covered but open space appears beneath the arose volume. The house inhales the garden through large windows so the garden becomes the heart of site.

Amplasamentul este incinta ansamblului Universitii Politehnice Bucureti, caracterizat prin amplasarea liber a unor pavilioane ntr-un spaiu verde, dupa modelul urbanismului anilor '60. Acest spaiu verde a fost proiectat iniial doar ca suport neutru pentru evidenierea unei arhitecturi de bun calitate (n marea sa majoritate). n urma analizei acestui ansamblu arhitectural, se pot alege zone de studiu diferite ca scar. Se propune studierea relaiei dintre acest spaiu verde, rezidual / interstiial - denumit generic "Parcul Politehnicii" - i: pavilioanele Politehnicii, activitile gzduite n aceasta incint, accesele, circulaiile majore i dotrile vecine.

The site is the park of the Polytechnic University Bucharest, an example of the urbanism model of the '60s, characterised by the free placement of the theaching pavilions inside a green space. This park was initialy created only as a neutral background for the architecture (most part of a good quality). Analysing this architectural assembly allows each individual group of students to choose different study areas of various sizes. The aim of the project is the study of the relationship between this residual / interstitial greenspace genericaly named - "Polytechnical Park" and the teaching pavilions, the activities sheltered in the complex, the accesses, the circulations and the neighbouring buildings.

PREZENTAREA STUDENTILOR
Sunt 3 elemente pe care le-am urmrit n realizarea proiectului. Primul dintre acestea este caracterul unitar i anume ca intervenia noastr s se extind pe toat suprafaa campusului astfel nct ansamblul s ii pstreze unitatea. Al doilea lucru este eficiena interveniei i tocmai de aici provine ideea de traseu. Traseul se suprapune peste anumite drumuri, folosite frecvent n prezent ca scurtturi i care traverseaz spaiile verzi ntr-un mod liber. Astfel, traseul se prezint sub forma unui drum al crui scop principal este tranzitul, care se racordeaz la i intersecteaz strazile existente, dar care de asemenea prezint opiunea unor drumuri secundare, ocolitoare. De-a lungul acestui drum apar punctual pavilioanele cu rol principal de puncte de ntlnire. Aceste pavilioane sunt poziionate n funcie de intersecia circulaiilor, a cldirilor din jur i a locurilor cu un caracter special. Al treilea element pe care l-am urmarit este sentimentul de artificial care intr in dialog cu contextul existent. Pavilioanele capat un aspect sculptural prin culoarea vie i material (metal vopsit). Elementele naturale (copacii, florile, iarba, pietriul) sunt separate i apar ca elemente insulare cu un contur precis. Drumul (asfalt negru), folosit i ca panou informativ, primete un desen care ilustreaz un circuit electric, o mic ironie la adresa studenilor Politehnicii.

STUDENTS' PRESENTATION
There are three general elements we have pursued in our design. The first one is that our intervention has to cover the whole surface of the campus in order to keep the balance between different parts inside the campus. The second important idea is efficiency which led us to thinking about creating a road. The road actually overlaps certain paths which are not part of the original building plan but of spontaneous nature and which cross through the open and green spaces. We wanted to highlight these paths especially because they are most frequently used as shortcuts. Along this main road we have positioned several pavilionary constructions which have the main function of a meeting point, but can also be used as coffee shops and can host cultural and sporting events. These structures are positioned based on the intersection of circulations, surrounding buildings and landscape, and special areas. Their position creates a rhythm inside the space of the campus, thus creating many subdivisions which are easier to appropriate. We wanted to separate our design from the existing one and through this complete separation in style to create a feeling of respect towards the buildings. The constructions thus appear to be more sculptural through the material (metal beams and sheets) and its color (bright yellow). Moreover, all the natural elements (trees, flowers, grass, gravel) are separated from each other and take the shape of singular entities with a precise border line, so that the feeling experienced is that of natural environment which has been altered and looks more and more like a building. The main road is made of black asphalt and white paint drawings, almost like a electrical circuit with all its elements but also with indicators thus serving as a map as well.

Pe zona din imediata apropiere a Palatului Parlamentului se propune o arie destinat funciei de informare a publicului privind valorile arhitecturale i proiectele Bucuretiului. Se dorete realizarea unui reper important pentru bucureteni si turiti care s suscite interesul vizitatorilor nu numai pentru exponate ci i prin valoarea plasticii arhitecturale propuse.

On a site in the imediat vicinity of the House of Parliament we propose an area destined for informing the public obout Bucharests architectural values and projects. The assembly aims to be an important mark for the inhabitants of the capital as well as for the turists, and to be interesting not only from the point of view of the exhibits but also for its own architectural language.

n cadrul unei dezvoltri urbane noi, ntr-un ansamblu de locuine individuale P+1, unul dintre beneficiari dorete o mansardare a volumului existent. Se cere rezolvarea unei mansarde care s adposteasc o locuin tip studio cu standard ridicat de confort. Sistemul constructiv i sistemul de nchidere este la alegere (lemn, metal) sprijinit pe placa din B.A.

Within the framework of a new urban developement, consisting of an assembly of duplex dwellings, one of the owners likes to add an attic to the original volume of his house. The theme demands a proposal for an attic that should shelter a studio dwelling of high standard. The constructive sistem is the choice of the student (wood, metal) and will rest on the existing concrete structure.

Amplasamentul propus este Piaa Naiunilor Unite, la limita centrului istoric i n imediata vecintate a zonei de natere a Cii Victoriei. Obiectivul studiului const n analiza relaiei dintre spaiul verde interstiial, aflat ntr-o stare de semiabandon i traseul pietonal funcional (existent dar nesusinut prin amenajri de calitate) ce se realizeaz dinspre Calea Victoriei spre Bulevardul Unirii si Patriarhie.

The site is the Natiunilor Unite square, at the border with the old historic center of Bucharest, in the imediat vicinity with the starting point of Calea Victoriei street. The objective of the short project consists in the study of the relationship between the interstitial green space (almost deserted) and the pedestrian walkway linking Calea Victoriei with Unirii Bulevard and the Patriarchy (that exists but is not sustained through quality public space design).
