The CEOs of Comfort Dental came in to talk to our school and said some very interesting things that I am not sold on. One main question I have is does the average Comfort Dental dentist really make $200 000! a year" I fell like that num#er is to high es$ecially for a ne% dentist. &lso the CEO made Comfort Dental sound a%esome to %ork for 'like anyone %ould e($ect to hear from the CEO) #ut I have heard really #ad SDN Members don't see this ad. (About Ads) things a#out it from a ma*ority of dentist and that you are required to charge $atients for %ork they don+t need to meet a quota. Can anyone talk a#out their e($erience of %orking at Comfort Dental. &nd can anyone tell me the differences #et%een Comfort Dental cor$orate dentistry and $rivate dentistry" Thanks

2y o$inion is that cor$ is all the same. The catch of cor$ dental is the illusion that clinical dentistry and the #usiness as$ects can #e divorced. Truth is you can+t #ecause relinquishing the $$$ as$ects allo%s the ugly head of human nature to #e raised. 4ence the constant high turnaround. 1erha$s I %as a #it too harsh %ith the O1 #ut a lot of threads have #een made here a#out cor$ dentistry and again a sim$le search function %ould yield a %ealth of information like Cold 5ronts thread a#out &s$en etc. In the end it+s really the same %hether its comfort dental as$en dental 666666666 'fill in the #lank) 7miles and so forth.

Every dentist %ithin comfort o%ns 289 of their $ractice and has much more autonomy than an em$loyee dentist else%here. There is a #uy:in $rice de$ending on location and financing o$tions availa#le. Each office is ty$ically staffed %ith ; dentists each %orking <0:<= hrs $er %eek. They are o$en >a:>$ 2:5 and >a:?$ 7at. @ith == o$erating hours $er %eek revenue from ; docs #ulk discounts from su$$liers and their o%n la# they kee$ overhead #et%een ;0:;89. 7o a 2 million dollar comfort $ractice %ill $ay its docs t%ice %hat a 2 million dollar $rivate $ractice %ould A>09 overhead. In states that $ermit utili.e E5D&s and ty$ically %ork in quadrants. There are no treatment $lan coordinators like you %ould find at any chain dental office dentists handle the T( $lans every ste$ of the %ay including the financials. That #eing said these docs %ork long hard hours and the *o# isn+t for everyone. 2ost of the dentistry is very #asic as dictated #y their ty$ical $atient demogra$hics. I don+t like the idea of cor$orateBfranchise dentistry #ut if I had to go %ith one it %ould definitely #e Comfort.

I kno% Comfort has #een e($anding in Colum#us the $ast 2:< years %ith ne% locations and some are $ersonally not doing great 'direct %ords from their local re$). -es they might #e offering great $ay to dentists #ut the doctors are doing dentistry they don+t en*oy or rave a#out to their colleagues. To the O1C don+t take the #ait. $200k is a small change to your true $otential. I %as in your shoes < years ago '20?0) and signed u$ %ith &s$en %hile I %as #uilding my first office right out of school. Today I have < locations and associates that hel$ed accom$lish my goals. Think #eyond your first year out of school only %ork as an associate if your o$tions are limited 'I.e. saturated market or other unfortunate circumstances). I %ould e($lore a $lan of %here you %ish to see yourself 8 years out of school. Do you really %ish to #e at Comfort Dental" Or %ould you rather #e en*oying the fle(i#ility of a $osition %here you have #etter control of your career and free from franchise style dentistry" The choice is yours.
