General principles

Notes

The admissible values are in accordance with DIN 1052:1988

specifications.
The characteristic values comply with EN 1995:2009 in
accordance with ETA-11/0030.
The design values are obtained from the characteristic values,
as follows:
R k
Rd= k mod

1 T
he axial resistance of the thread to extraction has been calculated

The coefficients m and kmod are assumed on the basis of the current
standards used for the design.
For the mechanical resistance values and for the geometry of
the screws reference has been made to ETA-11/0030.
In the calculations, the volumic mass of the wooden elements has
been considered equal to k = 380 kg/m3.
The values have been calculated considering the threaded
part as completely inserted into the wooden element.

considering an angle of 90 between the grain and the connector.

on a wooden element.
In the case of wood-steel connections it usually depends on the shear
resistance of the steel with respect to the detachment or penetration
of the head.
The characteristic shear resistances have been calculated for
wood/wood joints at a shear plane.
The permissible values of resistance to penetration of the head are
recommended on the basis of experimental evidence.
The permissible values of resistance to penetration of the head are in
agreement with ETA-11/0030 and with Experts report on Rotho Blaas
screws by H.J. Bla
The admissible shearing resistance values do not depend on the angle
between force and grain.
The characteristic shearing resistances are valued considering angle
between the force and the fibres equal to 0.
The characteristic shearing resistances are valued considering angle
between the force and the fibres equal to 90.
The characteristic values of resistance to penetration of the head, with
washer, are in accordance with ETA-11/0030.
Please contact our rothoengineer technical department for any
further explanations or information required.
The minimum distances are in accordance with EN 1995:2009 in
accordance with ETA-11/0030.
