Foundation Color Blend Foundation Color Blend ~ Warm 61.9% Yellow Iron Oxide 14.1% Gold Lame Mica 14.0% Red Iron Oxide 7.0% Ultramarine Blue 2.0% Superfine Silk Powder 1.0% Allantoin Foundation Color Blend ~ Cool 42.8% Yellow Iron Oxide 7.0% Gold Lame Mica 36.5% Red Iron Oxide 10.7% Ultramarine Blue 2.0% Superfine Silk Powder 1.0% Allantoin
Start by assembling everything you will need: scale - 0.01 gram your blender/food processor plastic wrap to place between your food processor and lid spoons for scooping boats/cups/something to weigh your product in your kit or all of the ingredients in the kit old clothing or an apron -- this is messy stuff a mask to prevent breathing the powders I recommend that you start out making 30 grams of the cool base and 30 grams of the warm base. WARM BASE 1) Place your weighing container on your scale and tare it. 2) Measure 18.57 grams of yellow iron oxide and put it into your food processor (or blender or whatever you are using). 3) Repeat step 1

4) Measure 4.2 grams of red iron oxide and put it into your food processor. 5) Repeat step 1 6) Measure 2.1 grams of ultramarine blue and put it into your food processor. 7) Repeat step 1 8) Measure 0.6 grams of superfine silk powder and put it into your food processor. 9) Repeat step 1 10) Measure 0.3 grams of allantoin and put it into your food processor. 11) If you are using a food processor, cover the bottom half with plastic wrap/press and seal and secure the top. 12) Once your food processor/blender is secure turn it on (hold on to it) and allow it to blend for 2-3 minutes. I find it helpful to tilt my food processor to make sure that everything mixes evenly. It is very important to make sure that your color blend is mixed very well. Once you are sure that your color blend is mixed well, you can repeat step 1 and then add 4.23 grams of gold lame mica to your color blend and gently blend -- this can even be done manually (shaking). Micas do not need to be "ground" to blend evenly. The Gold Lame Mica does not give you a shimmery or sparkly foundation, it makes for a complete (almost 3D) look with your foundation, so that it doesn't look "flat", it makes you look alive. You have now finished your warm color blend. Put it into a clean, empty container and label it. Clean your food processor/blend and dry it very well. COOL BASE 1) Place your weighing cup/boat on your scale and tare it. 2) Add 12.84 grams of yellow iron oxide into your food processor/blender. 3) Repeat step 1 4) Add 10.95 grams of red iron oxide to your food processor/blender. 5) Repeat step 1 6) Add 3.21 grams of ultramarine blue to your food processor/blender. 7) Repeat step 1 8) Add 0.6 grams of superfine silk powder to your food processor/blender. 9) Repeat step 1 10) Add 0.3 grams of allantoin to your food processor/blender. Make sure that your color blend is thoroughly mixed, if you suspect that it is not blend it until it is completely mixed.

Once you are sure that your blend is completely mixed repeat step 1 and then add 2.1 grams of gold lame mica to your color blend and gently blend -- this can even be done manually (shaking). You have now finished your cool color blend. Put it into a clean, empty container and label it. Your warm blend will be a very rich, warm golden brown (definite yellow undertones). Your cool blend will be a very rich mahogany (deep reddish brown). Clean your food processor/blend and dry it very well. IMPORTANT: COLOR CONSISTENCY I really want to emphasize how important it is to be very accurate in your measurements. Being off in your measurements will lead to inconsistent batches. 30 grams is not a large amount to be working with and the smaller your batch is the more difficult it is to reproduce consistent batches of color. Another problem that can cause inconsistent colors from batch to batch is inadequate mixing. This is why coffee grinders are so difficult to work with (that and their size), but coffee grinders have small motors and they don't stay running. One more problem that can cause inconsistent colors from batch to batch is switching suppliers for your colors (I promise, this is NOT a sales pitch). There are dozens of manufacturers of cosmetic pigments and there is NO color standard. Even my pigment supplier has different shades of the same color. If you switch suppliers you will most likely need to rework your color ratios to get them to match.

Foundation Blend 59.5% Sericite Mica or French Talc 25.0% Micronized Titanium Dioxide 12.5% Micronized Zinc Oxide 2.0% Superfine Cosmetic Silk Powder 1.0% Allantoin q.s. Mineral Makeup Color Blend
1) Place your weighing container on your scale and tare it. 2) Measure 59.5 grams of sericite and place it into your food processor/blender. 3) Repeat step 1. 4) Measure 25 grams of micronized titanium dioxide and place it into your food processor/blender. 5) Repeat step 1. 6) Measure 12.5 grams of micronized zinc oxide and place it into your food processor/blender. 7) Repeat step 1. 8) Measure 2.0 grams of superfine silk powder and place it into your food processor/blender. 9) Repeat step 1. 10) Measure 1.0 gram of allantoin and place it into your food processor/blender.

11) If you want to add silica microspheres or silicone microspheres or Ronaspheres subtract it from your sericite. 10% (10 grams) is a good amount to sub out without losing adhesion properties. 12) If you are using a food processor, cover the bottom half with plastic wrap/press and seal and secure the top. 13) Once your food processor/blender is secure turn it on (hold on to it) and allow it to blend for 2-3 minutes. I find it helpful to tilt my food processor to make sure that everything mixes evenly. Remove 50 grams of your foundation base, place it into a clean container and label. Start by adding 1 gram of color blend to your foundation base and mix well, tilt your food processor/blender on its side to make sure that all of the color is blended. Continue adding color until you have a match. Make sure to record everything that you do so that you can reproduce the same color. If you are looking at your color blend and thinking that you could use it straight and it would still be too light, you need to pull out your black iron oxide and start darkening it. You can add small amounts of liquid additives to your finished product if you would like to reduce the fly-away dust you experience when you use your product (it also improves adhesion).

Bronzer 53.2% Sericite or Calcium Carbonate 9.0% Silica or Silicone Microspheres 8.1% Brown Iron Oxide ~ medium 5.7% Red Iron Oxide 4.5% Yellow Iron Oxide 4.5% Superfine Silk Powder 15.0% Bronzer Blend Mica

Mix all ingredients except for the bronzer blend using a rock tumbler, coffee grinder or blender. Once this is completely mixed add your bronzer blend and mix gently. This is a very dark, warm bronzer that is a wonderful product for summer. Using the Calcium Carbonate in place of the Sericite will create a lighter-weight Bronzer; this can be more desirable since the Bronzer is a very highly pigmented product.

Below are basic organic makeup recipes for light, medium and dark skin. All of the ingredients used in the recipes can be purchased at www.pvsoap.com. You can also buy the jars there. You will most likely need to adjust the color to fit your skin.

If the color is too dark for you add more titanium dioxide. If the color is too yellow add more red in very small quantities. If the color is too pink add more yellow in very small quantities. If the color is too light add more brown iron oxide in very small quantities. Each recipe should make 7-8 jars or makeup.

Easily Convert Your Mineral Makeup to a Liquid Foundation

Melt 2 TBS of coconut oil in a double boiler. Add 1/2 tsp of your favorite essential oil. I recommend orange, lavender or lemon. If you have some, add 1 tsp vitamin E. Dump some mineral makeup into a empty jar. Add some of the coconut oil mixture in a little at a time and stir until the mineral makeup is covered. Adding more oil will make a lighter foundation. Less oil will make a heavier foundation. You may wish to make a thicker foundation to use as a concealer and a lighter foundation to use for your whole face.

Homemade Moisturizer That Turns Mineral Powder Into Liquid Foundation

1-1/2 Tbsp apricot kernel oil or avocado oil 3 drops carrot seed essential oil 2 drops chamomile essential oil 1 tsp vegetable glycerin 2 drops rose otto or rose absolute essential oil (optional) Combine all ingredients in a small bottle and shake well. Should keep, unrefrigerated, for at least 6 months. Approximately 30 applications. Its better for oily skin.

Facial Cream

Things You'll Need 1 tbsp. dried sage 1 tbs. dried rosemary 1/3 cup distilled water Wire mesh strainer Coffee filter 1 tsp. lanolin 1 tbsp. beeswax Double boiler 2 tbsp. coconut oil 1/2 tsp. vitamin E oil 1/4 cup almond oil (or avocado, soybean, hazelnut or olive oil) 2 tbs. orange flower water (or lavender or rosewater) 1/4 tsp. borax 20 drops geranium essential oil (or 20 to 50 drops other essential oil) Wire whisk Spatula Wide-mouth jar

Tips and Warnings Make sure all utensils and containers are sterile, clean and dry before preparing face cream to avoid mold. Oils and waxes should be at about the same temperature for mixing. So warm slightly or let them cool as needed. Homemade cream contains no chemical preservatives. Use it within a month or keep it in the refrigerator for up to five months. If you are pregnant, nursing or have compromised health, make sure herbs and essential oils are not contraindicated for your condition before adding them to your face cream. Directions Boil the distilled water and pour it over sage and rosemary or 2 tbsp. of your choice of herbs. Let steep, covered, for 25 minutes. Then strain through a coffee filter set in a wire mesh strainer. Melt beeswax and lanolin together in a double boiler over gentle heat. Beeswax protects the skin and lanolin has oil similar to natural skin oil. Melt the coconut oil in a double boiler over low heat. Stir in vitamin E oil, almond oil or your choice of oils. avocado and coconut oil nourish and feed your skin. Hazelnut, almond, and soybean oil are softening. Olive oil is high in antioxidants, but has a strong scent. Vitamin E oil preserves

your cream. Combine the strained herbal infusion with orange flower water or your choice of flower water and dissolve the borax in the liquid. Add the mixture slowly to the oil and wax, stirring constantly. Allow to cool to room temperature. Borax is an emulsifier, helping the oils and water mix. Orange flower water has an uplifting scent, tones skin and helps regenerate skin cells. Rose and lavender water are soothing and rose softens. Add the essential oil, one drop at a time while beating with a wire whisk. Geranium oil is revitalizing and astringent. Lemon grass and ginger stimulate circulation and tone skin. Chamomile and rose are good for children and sensitive skin. To relax and lift your spirits use lavender, neroli or bergamont. With a spatula, scrape the cream into a wide-mouth jar. Apply about 1/4 tsp. of face cream to face and neck after washing.
