QUESTION 1 a) Discuss the problems that may arise from the following situations i. ii. Designer fails to give adequate attention to the impact of a design selection on the cost and schedule during the construction phase. Contractor's project manager fails to coordinate subcontractors to work together to achieve project's objectives (8 marks) b) Project Management requires the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to complete a series of activities for accomplishing project's objectives. i. List five functions of project management (2 marks) ii. By using the answer in question 2 (a) above, discuss the IMPORTANCE of each function in managing a construction of residential college in University Malaysia Pahang. (10 marks)

QUESTION 2 Construction project involves intensive use of interrelated resources, consists of money, manpower, materials and machineries. Therefore, the task of managing the project becomes very challenging to satisfy the time, cost and quality requirement. A wellstructured organisation is crucial to ensure the successful delivery of a project. Discuss the relative advantages and disadvantages of the functional and project organisation to manage a project. You must relate your answer to satisfy the time, cost and quality requirement.
