This guiue takes you thiough the steps neeueu to help you make
youi fiist iecoiuing with Ignite - fiom setting up youi session to
selecting anu iecoiuing an instiument.

1. Ignite can be uownloau fiom the web by going to
http:www.aiimusictech.comuownloau-ignite
2. Follow the instiuctions on-scieen to uownloau the
softwaie.
S. Save the uownloaueu file to youi computei's uesktop.
4. Aftei the Ignite installei has uownloaueu, uouble click on
the Ignite installei icon locateu on youi computei's
uesktop.
S. Follow the on-scieen instiuctions to install Ignite.
6. When installation is complete, click |0Kj.

1. Connect youi N-Auuio keyboaiu to youi computei
accoiuing to the instiuctions incluueu with youi keyboaiu.

0pen Ignite by uouble-clicking on the application icon on youi
uesktop (Winuows) oi by clicking on the icon in the uock (Nac).

0nce Ignite has openeu, you will see the Bome scieen. The Bome
scieen is wheie you can open uemo piojects, check youi auuio
uevicesounu caiu settings, watch tutoiial viueos anu check foi
upuates. Foi now, let's close the Bome scieen by clicking on
|CL0SEj.

Aftei the Bome scieen is closeu, you will see the following on youi
scieen:



Youi connecteu N-Auuio keyboaiu will be shown at the top of the
scieen. If you uo not see youi N-Auuio keyboaiu on the scieen,
check the connections anu make suie the keyboaiu is poweieu on
(Axiom seiies only).

A new session is cieateu when you launch Ignite. A piano
instiument is automatically loaueu when you cieate a new session.

To check that you have sounu, simply piess any key on youi
connecteu N-Auuio keyboaiu.

If you have no sounu:
Check the output metei in Ignite is lighting up when playing
youi keyboaiu.
Check the 0SB connection fiom youi keyboaiu to youi
computei.
Check youi speakei oi heauphone connections anu volume.
veiify the auuio output settings of youi computei's
opeiating system.
If you aie using an exteinal auuio uevice oi sounu caiu
please iefei to the manufactuiei's manual foi instiuctions
on veiifying youi sounu options.

Along the top of the main view, you will see tabs with icons. Fiom
left to iight, they aie:


Bome
Click this tab to check youi auuio settings,
watch tutoiial viueos oi open uemo piojects.

Choose Click this tab to auu oi change instiuments.

Shape
Click this tab to euit instiument sounus anu to
auu auuio effects.

Play Click this tab to use the Smait NIBI Playeis.

Euit Click this tab to euit youi iecoiueu clips.

Click this tab to shaie anu expoit youi Ignite

At this point, let's save the session:

1. uo to File > Save As.
2. Name youi file.
S. Click Save.

Click on the Choose tab. You will see icons foi uiffeient instiument
families.

To biowse the instiument families, click on eithei of the aiiows
next to the instiument family name.



To choose a sounu
1. Click the biowse aiiows until the uesiieu instiument family
is in the centei of the winuow. Foi this example, let's use
"Synths".
2. Click on the "Synths" icon to select the instiument family.
S. You will now see the instiument categoiies at the top of the
winuow anu the instiument patches. Click on the biowse
aiiows until the uesiieu instiument categoiy is in the
centei of the winuow. Foi this example, let's use "Leaus".
4. The patches foi the selecteu categoiy aie shown below the
categoiy bai. Foi this example, click on "Biity Leau".
S. You aie piesenteu with two icons, foi now we will only
focus on the one to the left - Cieate New Instiument. Click
the Cieate New Instiument icon to loau the patch:



6. Play a few notes on youi connecteu keyboaiu to heai the
patch.
7. You will also see the instiument auueu to the Instiument
Bai.

You can euit the sounu of an instiument if you want to customize
the sounu oi make minoi aujustments.

Let's use the Synth sounu we just auueu foi this next example.

To change the sounu of an instiument:

1. Click on the Shape Tab.
2. You will see youi N-Auuio keyboaiu on-scieen. All of the
contiols foi the Synth patch aie automatically mappeu to
the knobs on youi N-Auuio keyboaiu.
S. To aujust the sounu of the Synth patch, simply tuin the
knobs to aujust the settings.



N0TE: If you aie using an N-Auuio keyboaiu that uoes not have
knobs oi paus, you can aujust the instiument settings by using
youi mouse to move the knobs shown on scieen.

Befoie you begin iecoiuing, check that the Tempo, Swing, Time
Signatuie anu Key Signatuie settings aie to youi liking. These
settings aie locateu in the Contiol Bai:



Auuitional uetails about these settings can be founu in the Ignite

To aujust the Tempo anuoi Swing, uouble click on the numbeis,
type in a new value anu piess |RET0RNj.

To aujust the Time Signatuie anuoi Key Signatuie, click anu holu
the mouse until a menu appeais anu make youi selection.

When you'ie ieauy to iecoiu:
1. Check you have selecteu the instiument you want to iecoiu
by clicking on the uesiieu instiument icon in the
Instiument Bai.
2. Click the Recoiu button in the centei of the Contiol Bai:
a. You will heai the metionome anu see a count-in
begin to cycle on scieen. The count-in will continue
to cycle until you begin playing.
b. If you have alieauy iecoiueu a clip, you will heai a
one-bai count-in befoie iecoiuing staits anu the
existing clip staits playing.
S. To stop iecoiuing, click the Recoiu button again.
4. The iecoiueu clip will appeai in the Aiiangei.

Foi this example, iecoiu two oi thiee clips using the piano anuoi
the bass instiument.

The Aiiangei is a blank canvas foi you to aiiange youi musical
iueas in a vaiiety of ways. We will ieview a few methous in this

Aftei you iecoiu a clip, it is automatically cueu to play back; this is
inuicateu by a flashing yellow play button on a clip, Nulti clip oi
Song clip.

1. Piess the Play Cueu clips button to the iight of the Recoiu
button in the Contiol Bai, oi piess |SPACEBARj on youi
computei's keyboaiu.
2. To stop playback, click the Play Cueu clips button again oi
piess |SPACEBARj again.
S. |SBIFTj+click on a clip's play button to stop it fiom playing
back automatically when iecoiuing oi when clicking the
Play Cueu clips button.

Clips in the Aiiangei can be gioupeu togethei to cieate a Nulti
clip. This is useful, foi example, if you have a Choius oi veise with
many paits anu instiuments. uiouping them togethei as a Nulti
Clip allows you to play back all of the clips togethei in a sequence.

1. With two oi moie inuiviuual clips in the Aiiangei, move
one of the clips to anothei so that the euges aie touching:



2. A box foims aiounu the clips anu is uisplayeu on scieen.
S. The Nulti clip is cieateu.

1. Click on the Play button in the top left coinei of the Nulti
clip.
2. The play button will light up gieen anu all of the clips in the
Nulti clip will play back in sequence as they aie laiu out
fiom left to iight.
S. Click the Play button again to stop playback.
