WORKSHEET #3.1 Observation for the Learners Characteristics Name of the School: Binitayan Elementary School Location of the School: Daraga, Albay Date Visit: January 10, 2014 Class Observed: Grade IV

Today, we observed the grade six pupils section Sunflower (two). Maybe, their age ranges from 10-13. They are very naughty and most of them were not listening to the instruction of their teacher. Actually, they talk most of the time. I think, they cannot manage yet their own behavior but as I saw, they can work independently sometimes. By the way, the number of boys and girls in that section are 23 and 19. While we are observing them, I noticed that their span of attention are only five to ten minutes, its disappointing due to they are already a graduating elementary pupils but they do not act according to their level. In addition, their listening skill and ability to concentrate are not so good maybe it is because of the teachers strategy or method, or should we say its because of the attitude of the teacher. Well, let us not talk about that let us focus on the grade six pupils. At this time, I cannot add any more about them due to my mind is not working well because I am so tired in the whole day. In view of this, the result of observation that our group conducted this day was good.

The teacher should have in mind the theories and principles of teaching.

CAREFUL THOUGHT

1. Imagine yourself organizing your classroom in the future. In what grade/year level do you see yourself? What routines and procedures would you consider for this level? I see myself in grade four, organizing my classroom. The routines and procedures that I will consider for this level are the following: Pupils behavior; Pupils likes and dislikes; Pupils level of knowledge.

2. Make a list of the rules you are likely to implement in this level. Why would you choose this level? The list of rules that I likely to implement are: Discipline yourself; Respect others; Love God with all your heart.

I choose this level due to some personal matter to be specific, it is because I have a brother which is grade four.

3. Should learners be involved in making the class rules? Why?

The learners should be involve in making the class rules, so they will be always reminded about the rules and it will prevent them to do an unnecessary things.

I entered the classroom with the conviction that it was crucial for me and every other student to be active participant, not a passive consumer Learning is a place where paradise can be created. - Bell Hooks
