Individual pH Balance Assessment and Therapy

Purpose:
pH Balance in an individual is an important influence on both inflammatory and degenerative processes. As an individual is exposed to a variety of environmental toxins in food, air and water there can be an increase in acid accumulation and a reduced capacity for acid neutralization and excretion. In addition, if an individuals diet does not consist of enough acid neutralizing foods or is not rich in minerals an individuals acid load can increase..

Method:
1. Patient uses the pH test strips included in the pH-balance PASCOE product box to test urine pH. This is done by quickly inserting and then immediately removing the strip from the urine. The colour of the strip will change immediately. Please note the colour and compare with the pH colour legend located on the strip case. Note: the first morning urine measurement is used due to the fact that it best represents the bodys buffering/ neutralizing capacity. Most of the metabolic acids are formed and excreted during the night (thus the first morning urine should be the most acidic). If the bodys alkalinizing salts stores are sufficient the resulting first morning urine pH should be neutral or 7. If the stores are not great enough the urine pH can fall below the 6.8 range. 2. If the patients first morning urine pH measured below 6.8 you can dose as follows: : 5.0-5.5: 6 tablets 2x/day 5.5-6.0: 4 tablets 2x/day 6.0-6.5: 2 tablets 2x/day 6.5-6.8: 1 tablet 2x/day

3. The patient should reassess each morning and adjust dosage to suit that days pH measurement. This way specific individualized treatment can be given. A second measurement at mid-afternoon should be around 7.5-8.0. This means that the patient is regulating acids properly. See the chart on the following page. 4. If the pH of the first morning urine from a patient is above or around 6.8, but the practitioner suspects that the patient is still harboring acids, a second and/or third urine pH measurement throughout the day should be completed. If these pH measurements are lower than the first morning urine pH the patient likely has acid rigidity (an inability to properly excrete/neutralize acids often due to disorders of the kidney, lungs and/or lymphatic system). In these cases the patient should be instructed to take a moderate dose of pH-balance PASCOE (2-4 tabs 2x/day) and retest urine in 6-8 weeks. After 4-6 weeks of therapy the first morning urine pH will often become acidic. This is not a poor outcome of the therapy, rather it is a positive outcome showing that an individual is now properly regulating acid neutralization and excretion.

Deviation from the chart means that the patient has a problem with pH Balance and should be taking pH-balance PASCOE as per the dosing strategy above. A patient with a flat curve is not regulating pH well and should start with a dose of 4 tabs twice daily. For more information visit: www.pascoecanada.com
