The Geamar 120 ISL is based on more than 40 years experience in ship automation technology. It allows a one-man monitoring and operating schedule. All monitoring and control functions are handled by independent Process Monitoring and Control Stations (PMCS) located in engine room outstations. Standard hard- and software of the outstations handle all kind of shipboard signals (e.g. tank level measurement, stand-by pumps) as well as open and closed-loop control. The outstations are extended with a combined duty alarm / engineer call system for alarm transfers. Furthermore the outstations are coupled to Operator Workstations (OWS) via a duplicated System Net. The Geamar 120 ISL Operator Workstations provide the duty officer with : Clear and well organized display of operating conditions via full-graphic custom-designed mimic diagrams Fast and reliable intervention capability in system processes, taking account of urgency and operating state Easily recognisable Windows based Man-Machine-Interface for process control
The PMCS communicate via a duplicated System Net with the hierarchically superior Operator Workstations. All OWS have direct access to the process via the System Net. For on-plant inspection the PMCS can optionally be equipped with panels for display and operation, thus enabling local access for the engine room personnel. The modular system structure and the use of high-performance coupling networks permits flexible adaptation and later expansion of the system.
The software customizing tool allows flexible handling throughout the complete engineering phase including commissioning.

Software
The software is specially designed for shipboard operation (alarm indication, logs, trend charateristics, control, command recording). Its modular software components ensure a high degree of performance and reliability by use of well-proven standard function blocks.
