Can You Increase the Size of Ice Cubes on a Model WR30X10093 Ice Maker?
The GE WR30X10093 modular ice maker is a common unit found in many types of GE refrigerators. The water fill valve, which allows the water to flow into the ice tray, is set to the default setting that is best suited for most homes. However, if the water pressure in the home is too high or too low, the ice cubes may be too large or too small. This can be rectified in a few basic steps.

1.

Icemaker Fill Timing

o

When water flows into the ice tray to be frozen, the water is not measured in volume. Instead, the water valve is allowed to remain open for a set amount of time, and the amount of water dispensed depends on the home's water pressure. Adjusting the timing of the fill valve will increase or decrease the size of the ice cubes.

Adjustment Screw
o

The ice maker has an adjustment screw, which allows the user to increase or decrease the length of time that water is dispensed into the ice tray. To access the screw, the front panel of the ice maker must be removed. Remove the cover, and then remove the screw that secures the front panel of the ice maker. Once the screw is removed, remove the front panel of the ice maker to access the adjustment screw.

Adjustment Screw
o

The adjustment screw is located on the right side of the front of the ice maker. Use a flat-head screwdriver to rotate the screw. Rotate the screw clockwise to reduce the amount of water dispensed into the ice tray and counterclockwise to increase the amount of water dispensed.

Adjustment Proceedure
o

When turning the adjustment screw, rotate it in quarter-turn increments. Once this is completed, reassemble the ice maker and allow the cycle to complete, which takes several hours. If further adjustment is needed, repeat the steps. The ice maker should not need to be adjusted more than one full turn. If it does, a problem in the refrigerator's water filtration system or water inlet valve is likely .

There is a way to adjust the ice cube size for this model ! On the top front of the unit, remove the small plastic screw cover (center-right). Then remove the phillips screw that holds the cover in-place. Then remove the icemaker plastic cover. On the right side is a spring-tensioned screw. Look close you will see +/-. Then look closer for the arrows that are raised into the white plastic. To INCREASE the amount of water (increasing the size of the ice cube), turn this adjusting screw COUNTERCLOCKWISE. To DECREASE the amount of water (decreasing the size of the ice cube), turn this adjusting screw CLOCKWISE.
