Course description- This class covers all advanced elements of construction used to complete a small mobile cottage called The Dandelion Project. Students have framed and constructed this cottage. We are currently in the finish phases needed to finish. Students will be able to calculate sq footage and estimate materials need to complete the project. Students will schedule the sequence of sub contractors. Finish components will included the following, roollng, hardware, locks, paneling, insulation, cabinet installation, custom seating, storage, painting and trim. The goal ofthis class is to continue advancing student construction skills in order to prepare them to operate as carpenters and general contractors. Students will learn to do advanced power tool operations and use construction theory to develop a scope of work. This is a design build project

Tools Required
Each student is required to have the basic hand tools necessary to go out on a construction job. A few advanced hand tools will be added to your tool belt. Appropriate clothing and safety equipment is also required. See the tool list handed out by the instructor; students must have these tools by the third week in order to be allowed to work. ln the advent of rain check with your instructor, class may not be cancelled. Students will need rain jackets. Students may want to bring their lunch and something to drink. You will need to bring your own locks for lockers, first come first serve basis. Do not leave your tools visible in your car as they may be stolen.

Attendance/ Participation - Students are expected to be on time for class, this means not later than 15 minutes unless you have made arrangements with the instructor. Three unexcused tardiness = one absence. Three absences are allowed during the semester. Further absences may result in a drop in your grade or from the class. lf students do not show up for classes on the first day they may be dropped. You may call your instructor if need be. No calls taken after 7 P.M. or before 7 A.M. Students are expected to do their share of work and clean up. Unruly behavior or unsafe practices will not be tolerated and are subject to dlsmissal from class. No drug usage or alcohol consumption allowed. Student will be asked to leave if these rules are violated. No texting in class or taking phone calls during lecture. ln case of an emergency please

step out of the class to respond. Contact the teacher if you have problems or special needs.

Exams/ homework- You will have homework and reading assignments and projects to complete. A mid term exam and a final exam will be given. lt is your responsibility to ask for a make up. lf you miss class ask a fellow student for their notes. Pick up missed handouts from the instructor. No phones or computers allowed during tests. Students found cheating will be failed. Grados- 30% attendance, 20% participation & skills, 25o/o midlerm,2so/o final

Student Learning outcomes: Upon completion of this course will be able to perform the following tasks with minimal supervision. LFollow and perform personal and construction site safety procedures
2.lnterpret construction drawings, standards and codes to construct a safe, durable and healthy building structure 3. Participate capably and safely in the construction and integration of floor, wall and ceiling systems into a energy efficient structure

4. Specify materials and products correctly, prepare a Homeowners Manual.


5. Apply green and sustainable construction strategies and techniques to construct a

healthy and durable structure
