Army Men

Set Up
Players alternate placing 10 figures at a time, up to 12’ from their own table edge. Each player has his own card
deck. He shuffles his card deck and deals himself a hand of 4 cards, kept secret from the opposing player.

Play
In his turn, a player may play 3 cards, one at a time, resolving each card before playing the next. Differnet cards
can be played on the same fiures, as long as a figure does not perform the same action twice in a turn At the end
of his turn the player refills his hand to 4 cards. When his deck runs out the player reshuffles and reuses
(exception: Airstrikes, see card)

Movement
Figures move 6”. Machine gunners count as 3 figures for the purposes of moving. The only terrain affecting
movement is that which almost requires climbing such as steep rocky outcrops, or stairs, for which movement is
halved.

Firing
A ‘6’ on a dice is a kill. Remove target
There are 4 firing ranges: Short 0-12”; Medium - 24”; Long - 36”; Extreme (snipers only) - 48”
Firing is done on an individual basis, one figure firing at one enemy figure. The figure rolls a certain number of
d6’s depending on the weapon used, and the range and cover of the target:
• Rifles vs full cover: 3d / 2d / 1d
• Machine guns vs full cover: 5d / 4d / 3d (each additional ‘6’ rolled kills a figure within 6” radius of target)
• Grenades vs full cover: 5d / - / - (each additional ‘6’ rolled kills a figure within 3” radius of target)

Modifiers: vs Partial cover: +1d

vs no cover: +2d
vs Entrenched (specific scenarios only): -2d

Close Combat
If a figure moves into contact with an enemy, it immediately engages in close combat. The attacker rolls 4d, the
defender 3d. Both sides total dice, highest total wins and kills the loser. Attacker wins ties.

Terrain and Cover Definitions

‘Terrain” is any piece placed on the table that could justifiably provide some cover in a real-life situation. It
assumes the figure is not standing still, but crouching or hugging the terrain. Eg a rocky outcrop, a tree, a corner
of a building, a doorway. The only obvious exception is a hill, or blank smooth wall.

• Full Cover: At least half of the target’s base is obscured by terrain and cannot be seen by the attacker
• Partial Cover: Target’s base is touching terrain, but more than half of the base is visible to the attacker.
Even though the model may be in actual full view, it is considered to be “hugging” the terrain.
• No Cover: Target’s base is not touching terrain, and more than half the base is visible to the attacker.

The 3” Rule
• If using abstract “forest areas”, then a figure with part of its base within 3” of a forest edge can see out and be
seen, but has partial cover. 3” or more of forest blocks LOS.
• A figure behind intervening terrain that is being targeted from a higher elevation cannot be seen if part of its
base is within 3” of the intervening terrain
• Figures within 3” of each other in the same terrain have no cover from each other regardless of terrain
(exception: entrenched figures). Treat as being in the open
