Academic Integrity in Your Classroom

Make a special note in your syllabus about Academic Integrity and the consequences for engaging in Academic Dishonesty. You can use the University Catalog as a guide. Example - add the Academic Integrity Policy to your syllabus:
The University is committed to maintaining academic integrity throughout the university community. Academic dishonesty is a serious offense that can diminish the quality of scholarship, the academic environment, the academic reputation, and the quality of a Cal Poly Pomona degree. All forms of academic dishonesty at Cal Poly Pomona are a violation of university policy and will be considered a serious offense. Academic dishonesty includes but is not limited to: a. Plagiarism, falsification, fabrication Plagiarism, falsification, fabrication is presenting words, ideas or wor! of others as one"s own wor!. Plagiarism, falsification, fabrication, includes copying homewor!, copying lab reports, copying computer programs, using a wor! or portion of a wor! written or created by another but not crediting the source, using one"s own wor! completed in a previous class for credit in another class without permission, paraphrasing another"s wor! without giving credit, and borrowing or using ideas without giving credit. b. Cheating #uring $%ams $%am cheating includes unauthori&ed 'crib sheets,( copying from another, loo!ing at another student"s e%am, opening boo!s when not authori&ed, obtaining advance copies of e%ams, and having an e%am re)graded after ma!ing changes. $%am cheating includes e%ams given during classes, final e%ams and standardi&ed tests such as the *raduating +riting Test and ,ath #iagnostic Test. c. Use of Unauthori&ed -tudy Aids This includes utili&ation of other"s computer programs or solutions, copying a copyrighted computer program without permission, using old lab reports, having others perform one"s share. d. .alsifying any University #ocument / This includes falsifying signatures on university forms such as Add) #rop and +ithdrawal .orms, forging another student"s signature, and falsifying prerequisite requirements. Consequences for academic dishonesty will include state the consequences for academic dishonesty in your class here. Additionally, students will be referred to 0udicial Affairs where they may face additional consequences. The responsibility of all students is to be informed of what constitutes academic dishonesty and to follow the policy. A student who is aware of another student"s academic dishonesty should report the instance to the instructor of the class, the test administrator, or the head of the department within which the course is offered. Example make a special note about Academic Integrity at the top of an assignment:
This is an individual assignment. Collaboration with another student is not allowed. Any sharing of wor! or factual data between students is not allowed. All wor! must be original for this pro8ect in this quarter. ;ou may not use wor! 2yours or someone else"s5 from other classes or other quarters. -tudents violating this academic integrity policy will receive &ero points for this assignment, an '.( grade in the class, and will be referred to the 1ffice of 0udicial Affairs.

Reporting Academic Dishonesty
