Buffalo Quilting Gals

Buffalo, Wyoming
Vol. XVI No. 8 2013 Buffalo, Wyoming

LAST MEETING-- Our last meeting was July 13 at the Pinewood Cottage in Story. Since only the secretary was present we didnt have a business meeting, but we did approve the minutes and treasurers report from the previous month. Seena taught a lesson on precision piecing and everyone who participated ended up with a potholder when they finished. We had a lovely pot luck luncheon in Janet Ludwigs beautiful garden and there were a few show and tell quilts as well. Bonnie Roth told us about the fair and had a signup sheet for volunteers to help with the quilt judging and hanging the quilts. NEXT MEETING-- The next meeting will be on September 14, 2013 at 9AM at Onderdonk Hall. See Sherrys letter below for details on what is planned for the meeting.

Hello Quilters! It has been a busy summer with gardens, quilts, Quilt Wyoming and just the general summer things. I for one am not looking forward to putting away my Thongs (my 16 year old grandson was shocked until he realized I was talking about what he calls flipflops). Marilyn, Cindy and l welcomed grandsons into our families. I for one stayed and spoiled mine for 5 weeks; it was hard to leave them to come home. However, I was exhausted chasing a 2 year old around all day. I was so tired and busy, by the time I was headed home I realized I had not called any of you and I apologize. I did post on Facebook, but if you want to see baby pictures just ask one of us and I am sure we can produce a few. I heard Seena had an awesome class with the precision piecing and a fun day was had by all at the Pinewood cottage. Hope we can do this class again as I still want to take it too. The part of the summer I missed with all of you was the Johnson County Fair and Quilt Wyoming. Congrats to Kathleen for here first place at Quilt Wyoming, it is nice to see our Guild members do well. Sounds like everyone who took quilts to the fair did super great. I did get to see some of the pictures and congratulations to all of you. At out September meeting Anna will be teaching English paper piecing. This is to be hand sewn, so if this is something you would like to do bring 3 fat quarters of light, medium and dark material, plus needle and thread to match. For those who do not want to do this type of paper piecing, we will have a Quilt of Valor ready to be put together. So bring your sewing machine and a neutral colored thread. We will also be taking a head count for Janet from Pinewood Cottage to do Eleanor Burnss "Delectable Mountains", in October and in November if needed. For those who do not want to do this we should still have Quilts of Valor to work on. Janet is going to get a list of what we will need for this class. I know you can get the Delectable Mountains Books from Amazon.com with the ruler. So check it out and we will have more information at the September meeting. Nancy is still taking quilts for children in distress, it is something the child can hold onto and keep when their world is being torn apart. Bring these to work on if you would like. I expect everyone who had quilts at the Fair to bring them for our show and tell. Hope to see all of you there. Sherry Walter
