e-STUDIO3510c, 4520c Series Countermeasure for CEC0 Error

This bulletin will describe the procedure to troubleshoot and correct a CEC0 error caused by the locking of a one-way clutch in the drive unit. The Transfer Unit Cam Shaft and a bushing have also been changed.

Detail
When the Transfer Unit Cam Shaft (P27-I9) and the one-way clutch gear (P27-I16) are engaged, abrasion dust may be produced and enter the clutch causing the clutch to lock and display a CEC0 error. If any of the above models experience a CEC0 error, follow the procedure below to check if the error is caused by a locking of the one-way clutch (P27-I16, 6LE29057000, GEAR-10S26-CLT) in the drive unit. If so, perform the "Countermeasure Procedure" below. In some cases it may be necessary to replace the Transfer Unit Cam Shaft and bushing with a new one. Note: The "CEC0 error" caused by the locking problem of the one-way clutch may not always occur while the cause is actually being investigated. However, you should perform the Countermeasure Procedure below anytime a CEC0 error occurs. Procedure: (1) Take off the inner cover and the duct. (2) Perform output check (03-239). Confirm if the edge of the shaft is rotated by 180 degrees and then stopped when pressing the [START] button each time.

If the shaft does not rotate, it could be that the registration motor may not be rotating or the locking of the one-way clutch is defective. In this case proceed to step (3).

If it is rotated by 180 degrees and then not stopped, the 2nd transfer roller position detection sensor or the harness may be the cause. Note: Before checking the operation, close the 2nd transfer unit and the automatic duplexing unit.

(3) Perform output check (03-108) to confirm if the registration motor rotates (the registration motor stops using (03-158). If the shaft does rotate, the CEC0 error is caused by a failed one-way clutch because the motor and the harnesses are working normal. Therefore, follow the procedure listed below. Countermeasure Procedure: (1) Remove the registration motor unit. (Refer to 11. 6.33 "Registration motor unit" in the Service Manual.) 1a. Release the wire harness from its clamp prior to removing the registration motor unit.

(2) Remove the clip and gear containing the one-way clutch.

(3) Wipe the engaging section of the shaft and the one-way clutch with a dry cloth. If the shaft is worn, replace it and the bushing with new ones.

(4) Install the new gear containing the one-way clutch then reinstall the registration motor unit. Note: Hook the hole of the metal plate in the registration motor unit into the bent tab on the metal plate in the rear frame of the equipment.

As an additional countermeasure to this error, the following parts have been changed at the factory beginning with the following serial numbers: eStudio2330c : CIL934030 eStudio2830c : CXL920974 eStudio3520c : CGL910171 eStudio3530c : CZL916031 eStudio2820c : CWA018501 eStudio4520c : CAA018191

Transfer Unit Cam Shaft (P27-I9) To improve wear resistance of the shaft, its material has been changed and the section engaging with the one-way clutch gear is now heat-treated. Bushings retaining the Transfer Unit Cam Shaft To prevent transferring oil in the rear bushing (P27-I17) to the shaft, the rear bushing has been changed from metal to a plastic one. Due to this change, the front plastic bushing (P27-I11) has been changed to a metal one.

The new shaft can be identified by the grooves at the end of the shaft.
