Eve walks alone, heading towards her locker, expecting to meet Nick as usual. But Nick is nowhere to be found. A wail of approaching police sirens grabs Eves attention. In front of the school, police cars screech to a stop and officers emerge, moving fast. Eve rushes to the lot just in time to see the cops roughly leading Nick out of the school office in handcuffs. Nick looks up to see Eve. Their eyes meet, sharing a look of panic. Eve remembers the gun, and immediately turns around and walks back to Nicks locker. She grabs it, slings it over her shoulder, and walks off. EXT. INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL FIELD - MOMENTS LATER Eve walking fast, heads past the bleachers to a copse of trees. She finds RANDY, a pudgy nerd, in his usual hiding spot, using his laptop. EVE The police took Nick! RANDY (distracted) What? Eve slams the laptop closed. Hey! RANDY (CONTD)

Randy sees Eve is crying, and becomes sympathetic. RANDY (CONTD) Are you okay? No! EVE

6. RANDY What happened? The cops! EVE They arrested him!

RANDY What did he do? EVE I dont know. Obviously they think he did something. RANDY Is that his backpack? EVE Yeah... You dont want to know whats inside. Randy reaches out and Eve hands it to him. EVE (CONTD) Be careful. Randy sees the gun. His face turns to shock. He zips it open.

The asteroid impacts with a huge explosion, knocking Eve to the ground. EXT. ASTEROID CRATER - MOMENTS LATER As the smoke clears, the depth of the asteroids impact crater becomes apparent. Nearly 100 feet across, the asteroid itself a comparatively small, black, spherical mass in the center. Eve, still dazed, peers her head over the edge of the crater to look inside. BLACK SPHERE Smoke clears, the sphere becomes fully visible:

11. Its a perfect sphere. Its not an asteroid.

With a whir a precision, the 4 hemispheres slowly unfold, like petals of a flower, revealing compartments and pulsing instrumentation. Four huge, black spiders emerge from the pod, hairy and grotesque, each weighing over 300 lbs. The Spiders hairy legs scratch at the dirt, their mandibles test the air. Then they begin to scurry. Eve is frozen in shock. Shock turns to horror, and Eve knows she has to move. She inches her body away from the cliff edge, breaking the line of sight, then gets up and runs. CUT TO: EXT. DIRT FIELD - MOMENTS LATER Eve running, looking over her shoulder, slams straight into Randy, knocking them both to the ground. Oww! RANDY

EVE (helping Randy up) Oh my god! Randy! We have to get out of here. RANDY What?! I thought you were dead! Are you okay? What the fuck was that? EVE Something bad! We have to go!

Eve is desperately pulling Randy, trying to get him to move. Her panic rubs off, and he starts to hurry. RANDY (rushing to catch up) What did you see it? What was that!? Eve ignores him and continues moving.

12. RANDY (CONTD) (calling after Eve) I think it was a meteor. Like what happened in Russia. Eve stops and turns to look at Randy, giving him a chance to catch up. EVE Its not a meteor. Eve spots a Spider coming their way, getting closer. Oh my god. EVE (CONTD)

Randy follows Eves stare. RANDY What is that? (more panicked) WHAT IS THAT?! Eve glances around, and spots an irrigation culvert nearby. She grabs Randy and drags him in after her. I./E. CULVERT - CONTINUOUS Eve and Randy huddle together in the shadows, breathing in panicked, staccato breathes. Both have their eyes locked onto the Spider, watching it come closer. The Spider stops, sensing something. A jackrabbit.

The Spider jumps through the air and pounces on the rabbit as it flees. Eve screams! Then covers her mouth in a panic. But its too late. The Spider releases the rabbit and approaches. Oh my god. Oh my god. Go! Go! RANDY Oh my god. Oh my god.

EVE Go!

Eve pulls Randy past her, pushing him deeper into the culvert. EVE (CONTD) Go! Go! Go! Go as fast as you can.

13. The Spider arrives at the entrance to the culvert, testing the surface with hairy legs. EVE (CONTD) (covered in laser light) GODDAMNIT RANDY! GO! RANDY OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. The Spider gets closer. SPIDER The Spider rises up, preparing to jump on Eve. BOOM! [GUNSHOT] The Spider is jolted back, spurting red ooze. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! The Spider withers under the gunfire, shredding off various pieces. Click. EVE Shes holding Nicks gun, pointing it at the Spider, smoke rising from the barrel. She lowers the gun and creeps closer to the ruined remains, kicking it with her foot. Red ooze pumps out, filling up the troughs in the culvert pipe. RANDY (CONTD) IS IT DEAD?!? Yes. EVE Click. Click. [An empty gun]

RANDY How do you know!? EVE I dont have any more bullets. Eve looks out through the circle of light at the front of the tunnel: A second Spider searching the area.

14. Eve looks at Randy. Hes paralyzed with fear.

She points her finger deeper into the tunnel. EVE (CONTD) (whispering) CUT TO: INT. DEEP INSIDE THE CULVERT PIPE - LATER Inside the pipe its pitch black. Eve leads Randy deeper into the pipe, the pair shuffling through puddles of water and muck. EVE (slipping) Whoah! THUD. Ouch. EVE (CONTD)

GO!

RANDY Oh my god! EVE! Are you okay? Im fine. EVE

Eve pulls out her cell phone and starts a flashlight app, turning her screen a bright white, and illuminating the room. INT. UNDERGROUND CISTERN - CONTINUOUS The culvert pipe enters the cistern, which forks off in the darkness into sewer tunnels. Randy is at the edge of the pipe, judging the distance. Eve is sprawled on her ass at the bottom, now covered in black slime. Next to her is a ladder, leading up. Eve pulls herself to her feet. EVE (impatient) Come on. Lets go. Randy clumsily jumps down, scratching his knee.

15. RANDY

Oww.

Eve turns the ad hoc flashlight off, revealing the smallest halo of light at the top of the ladder: A manhole cover. Eve grabs the ladder. Hey! RANDY (CONTD) Where are you going?

EVE We got to get outta here Randy. These tunnels could go on forever. RANDY We almost died! That think tried to kill us! EVE We did not almost die. Trust me.

EVE AND RANDY RANDY Oh my god. Why did they do that? Why did they do that!?! Where are the students? That could be us right now! Oh my god we are so fucked! I should have never listened to you! EVE Calm down Randy. Were fine. At least, they didnt bomb Dunkin Doughnuts. You should be stoked about that. RANDY Thats not funny. At all.

EVE Like you wouldnt eat a doughnut right now. Shut up. RANDY

RANDY I dont want doughnuts.

17. EVE Doughnuts are for later. Right now... I need more bullets. EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - LATER Eve and Randy stand at the edge of a frontage road, the boundary between the neighborhood and the endless dirt fields beyond. Everything is eerily quiet. No cars on the road. No people in sight. Eve checks her cell phone. RANDY Theres no cars. Obviously. EVE No signal.

RANDY Could you stop being sarcastic for one minute!? (losing it) THIS IS CRAZY. FUCKING GIANT SPIDERS!! Trying to eat us! Jets blowing up the school! Nows the time to be nice for once. We might be the only ones left. Eve scoffs. EVE Yeah right. We are not that lucky. RANDY (starting to cry) Please stop. Now Eve feels bad. She lets Randy cry for a beat, then puts her arm around him. EXT. NICKS HOUSE - LATER They approach Nicks house. The crime scene tape is still up but theres no sign of the cops. No sign of anyone. Eve lifts the yellow crime scene tape and ducks underneath. She holds it up for Randy but he waits behind. EVE Youre not coming? RANDY Im gonna wait here. EVE (dropping the tape) Dont get eaten. Eve heads to the front door. under the tape to join her. The front door opens, Eves hand on the knob, peering into the darkness. Randy follows her inside. EVE Mr. Hanson? RANDY I dont think hes here. Good. EVE

INT. NICKS HOUSE, MASTER BEDROOM - MOMENTS LATER Eve opens the door, looking inside: A musty old bedroom, walls covered in cheap veneer, carpet old and stained. There is a connecting bathroom, the bathroom door barely ajar. Randy follows Eve inside. He sniffs the air.

EVE You smell something? RANDY Its hard to tell. EVE Youre making me nervous. RANDY I know how you feel. EVE Yeah, remember back there, when I saved your life? Sorry about that.

20. RANDY You dragged me out there in the first place! EVE Would you rather be at school? And by school, I mean smoking pile of rubble. (sad) RANDY

No.

Eve studies the closet for a moment, which has a particularly study door. She pulls on it. Locked. EVE (re the closet) He keeps his guns and ammo in here. RANDY How are we gonna get inside? Eve looks around the room, looking for something to smash the door in. On the dresser, Mr. Hanson keeps his most prized possession, a 1971 Pittsburg Steelers helmet. Eve removes the protective covering and grabs the helmet by the face mask. Oh no. Back up. RANDY (CONTD) EVE

RANDY (backing up) I dont think thats a good idea. Eve winds up, preparing to swing. Keys fall out of the helmet, jingling on the carpet. picks them up, nonchalantly. See? EVE No problem. Eve

Eve tosses the helmet on the bed. It bounces once then falls off, hitting the bathroom door, knocking it open. Eve quickly unlocks the closet, sliding it open, revealing guns and ammo. She gets on her knees and starts loading her backpack with .45 ammo. Then she grabs a 9mm pistol.

HANNAH (CONTD) You little slut. Hannah reaches back and slaps Eve across the face. Hard. Eve grabs her cheek in shock, an outline of five red fingers already forming underneath. Eve stares back silently. Defiantly.

HANNAH (CONTD) You want another one? A towering FIGURE enters the scene behind Hannah. Hannah cocks her hand to smack Eve again, but the Figures enormous hand lashes out, seizing Hannah by the wrist. Sleek, black, organically curved, like the body of locust. A collective gasp from the audience. A turret attached to one of the ships emits shoots a laser light at the camera. The screen turns bright white. Then the camera feed goes dark. CAPTAIN LEE (CONTD) Yesterday was just a probe. The real attack is coming. Captain Lee pushes a switch, and a huge display timer illuminates high on the wall, a permanent fixture. The display reads: 6 years, 0 days, 0 hours. Captain Lee pushes a button, and the timer starts counting down: 5 years, 364 days, 23.9 hours; etc. INT. SLEEPING QUARTERS - MORNING A large room, filled with bunk beds, each sleeping three kids. Eves bunk is on top. She lays in bed awake, staring at the ceiling, a digital display featuring a beautiful view of the night sky.

35. The ceiling display slowly changes hues, from black to a dawning light blue. The stars disappears. The beginning of a new day. Sergeant Wolf enters, dressed in his black and white digital camouflage fatigues. WOLF Rise and shine ladies. Its another glorious day in the corps! Kids, most still awake after a sleepless night, extend legs over bunk beds and hop down. EVE (alert and on her feet) You stole that from a movie. WOLF I dont think so missy. EVE Yeah you did. Its from Aliens. WOLF Seems appropriate. Lets move out.

INT. OBSERVATION ROOM - CONTINUOUS A secret room centered around a wall size digital display featuring camera feeds from all over the facility. Currently displayed is the camera feed from the sleeping quarters. Captain Lee, in gold fatigues, silently observes the kids getting out of bed, her eyes narrowing on the stragglers. Standing next to Lee is DOCTOR ALAN FEYNMAN (45), nerdy, holding a tablet. His uniform is red. He also watches the kids, making notations on his tablet. On the camera feed, the kids follow Sergeant Wolf towards the cafeteria. INT. CAFETERIA - LATER Randy carries a tray with food and a bottle of milk. He looks around for Eve, but cant find her. He wanders to the edge of the room, looking for an unoccupied table, but cant find one. SIMON LAGRANGE (18), tall and handsome, approaches the obviously lost Randy, shoving him with his shoulder.

36. Randy lunges to catch his tray from falling, but the bottle of milk hits the floor. SIMON LAGRANGE Watch where you are going fat boy. Sorry. RANDY

Simon picks up the bottle of milk. SIMON LAGRANGE This obviously isnt doing your body any good. RANDY Youre right. Simon leaves with the milk. defeated. OLIVIA You can sit here. Randy looks up. A diminutive 17 year old OLIVIA MARTINEZ sits at a nearby table by herself. OLIVIA (CONTD) You can sit with me. Randy looks reassured. He sits. Thanks. RANDY Randy looks down at his tray,

OLIVIA Its okay. I dont really know anyone either. My name is Olivia. Hi. RANDY Im Randy.

They shake hands like kids do, neither used to making lots of friends. Hi. OLIVIA Where are you from? RANDY

Coalinga.

OLIVIA Wheres that?

37. RANDY Its in California.

Oh.

OLIVIA California? Neat. RANDY Not really. Not where Im from. OLIVIA Is it sunny there? RANDY Yeah. Pretty much all the time. But I get sunburned. OLIVIA We should trade. Im from Alaska. Alaska?! RANDY Its cold, right? And

OLIVIA Yeah its cold. And snowy. rainy. And depressing. Im sorry. RANDY

OLIVIA Dont be sorry. Im glad Im here. You are? Why not? RANDY OLIVIA

While Randy is considering this, Eve enters the scene and sits next to Randy. Shes carrying her tray, and an extra bottle of milk, which she places on Randys tray. EVE (re the milk bottle) I think this belongs to you. RANDY Where did you get that? EVE From the guy that stole it from you.

38. RANDY Are you serious?!?

He wasnt mad?

EVE Who cares? It belongs to you. You shouldnt have let him take it. RANDY Its not worth fighting over. Yes. EVE It is.

OLIVIA Shes right. RANDY Eve. This is Olivia. friend. EVE Nice to meet you. Eve offers her hand and Olivia shakes it. Likewise. OLIVIA Shes my

MONTAGE: CLASSROOM, FIRING RANGE, SPACE SUIT POOL TRAINING Sergeant Wolf leads as the kids begin their transformation into Space Sailers. They all wear matching gray fatigues. Captain Lee and Doctor Feynman observe closely. INTERCUT WITH: TIMER TICKING DOWN 5 years, 320 days, 11 hours; etc. CUT TO: INT. CADET CHALLENGE COURSE - MORNING The challenge course is designed to train cadets in teamwork. Todays challenge: Cross a 30 foot gap and retrieve an American flag, then return the flag to the starting position, and raise it up a flagpole. The only way across the gap is a huge log, round and covered with grease.

39. Sergeant Wolf fires the starting pistol. CRACK!

The teams scramble into action. Sending their members one by one across the grease log. Some walk on top. They quickly fall. Simon, leading his team, grips the log carefully, laying on his stomach, they begin to form a human chain across the gap. Eves team, including Randy and Olivia, congregate in a huddle. Eve gives the order to break and the entire team jumps down into the pit, ignoring the log. Once in the pit, Eves team rushes to the opposite side, forming a human pyramid. Three kids, including Randy, form the base. Eve and another boy form the second tier. Together they provide enough height for the slight Olivia to barely climb on top and reach the ledge. She grabs the American flag and descends. They rush their human pyramid to the opposite side. Olivia climbs again, carrying the American flag in her hand. She ascends the human pyramid a second time, climbing off Eves back, to reach the flagpole. Olivia attaches the flag to the flagpole, then starts turning the crank. The Stars and Strips rise higher and higher. WOLF We have a winner. CUT TO: INT. FACILITY CORRIDOR - LATER The interior is sleek and futuristic. Floors of polished granite. The walls are glass displays, most emitting pleasant white/blue ambient light. Eve is looking at the wall hesitantly, her face glowing blue. She reaches her hand out and presses it against the walls glass surface. The wall winks green in response and displays a digital handprint to match up with Eves touch. A bright red line extends from the handprint, extending down the entire corridor, leading the way to Eves destination: The Medical Wing. INT. PSYCHOLOGICAL TESTING LAB - AFTERNOON

40. RECEPTION AREA A CORPORAL wearing Brown serves as the receptionist. Behind her is a special glass interview room. Currently the walls are fogged opaque to provide privacy. Name? Eve. CORPORAL EVE

CORPORAL Your full name. EVE Evening Diana Evers. The Corporal enters data into a computer and examines the results. CORPORAL (pointing) Have a seat. Eve sits on a waiting bench. In the relative quiet, sounds of conversation can be heard from the interview room, but it is too muffled to be understood. One side of the muffled conversation becomes more animated. A young male, clearly arguing. Then the conversation goes silent. There is a beep at the reception desk. The Corporal touches an ear piece and listens to apparently urgent instructions. CORPORAL (CONTD) (into ear piece) Yes sir! Captain Lee enters the Lab, wearing her Gold uniform, looking really pissed. The suddenly nervous Corporal rushes to stand and snap a salute. CAPTAIN LEE Have a seat! Yes sir! CORPORAL

Lee charges past Eve without a look, straight for the Interview Room, and slams the door behind her.

41. Another muffled argument. This time Lee is chewing someone out, an older male voice: A Doctor, protesting in vain. This goes back and forth, until Captain Lee finally shouts something intelligible: ERASE IT! Silence for a beat. CAPTAIN LEE (O.S.) NOW! Then Captain Lee opens the door.

CAPTAIN LEE (CONTD) Move it cadet! Nick emerges from the Interview Room, wearing Black fatigues, Captain Lee right behind. Eve is stunned speechless. Nick walks past Eve, head down, not seeing her. stands up and manages to say: Nick! EVE Captain Lee is about to push Finally she

Nick stops and turns to look. Nick to get walking when: Eve? NICK

Captain Lee is suddenly interested. CAPTAIN LEE You know her!? Yes sir. NICK

Not in a good way.

CAPTAIN LEE Not anymore you dont. understand me!? Yes sir. WHAT!? YES SIR! NICK CAPTAIN LEE NICK

Do you

CAPTAIN LEE Keep walking.

42. Nick walks, straight out the door. CAPTAIN LEE (CONTD) If you mention even one word about this, you are gone. Back to living with your mother in Hicksville. And Ill make sure you never get out. EVE (confused) What? CAPTAIN LEE Do you have a hearing problem cadet? No sir! EVE

CAPTAIN LEE I hope not. For your sake. Captain Lee exits after Nick. Eve is left standing in stunned silence. A beep at the reception desk. earpiece. The Corporal touches her

CORPORAL (into ear piece) Yes sir. (to Eve) The doctor will see you now. Eves eyes are watering, on the verge of tears. She forces herself not to cry. But she doesnt move. She wipes a stray tear. DOCTOR EMIL SWARTZ (45), the Psychiatrist, wearing a Red Coat, appears at the Interview Room door. He beckons to Eve. DR. EMIL (warm and friendly, with a German accent) Please. Come. Eve wipes away the faintest trace of a second tear. tear. (cold) Yes sir. EVE The last

43. INT. LAB INTERVIEW ROOM - MOMENTS LATER Eve enters. Doctor Emil waits, with a placating smile. He gestures to an examination chair, arm rests and footrests, extending out and an angle. Please. DR. EMIL Have a seat.

Eve sits in the exam chair. In front of her is a huge display, currently showing a 10 x 30 image of an America flag. Eve looks at it uncomfortably, finally having to look away from the glaring blue, red, and white. DR. EMIL (CONTD) Are you feeling okay, Ms. Evers? Im fine. EVE

Dr. Emil holds a strange tiara, the crown replaced with advanced scientific sensors. The band is formed of platinum, inlaid with a fiber optic display. In Dr. Emils hands, the band glows red. When Dr. Emil places the tiara on Eves head, it turns green. The tiara is an MRI scanner. An image of Eves brain, working in real time, appears on Dr. Emils tablet. EVE (CONTD) What is that? DR. EMIL It reads blood flow in your brain. EVE Its a minature fMRI? DR. EMIL Thats right. EVE What kind of test is this? DR. EMIL Nothing to worry about. Im just going to show you a few pictures. EVE Pictures of what? DR. EMIL Just relax.

44. Using his tablet, Dr. Emil dims the lights. turns into a picture of Earth from space. Its a picture that always fascinates Eve. notations on his tablet. The wall display Dr. Emil makes

The next picture shows a new born baby in her mothers arms. Eve grimaces. Dr. Emil notates. Pictures of: The Sahara Desert; Two parents lifting a gleeful child by either arm; A Battleship firing a broadside; A priest presiding over a bride and groom; A volcano erupting; And finally: A mother pushing a blonde little girl on a swing. The pictures containing other people make Eve uncomfortable. Dr. Emil watches her frontal lobe light up on his tablet. EVE (re the little girl on the swing) What the hell is this? DR. EMIL Its just a simple test. have to do is watch. All you

EVE Where did you get that picture? Who is that little girl!? DR. EMIL Its nothing to worry about. Please. Just relax. More pictures flash on the display. They are all from Eves high school: Popular kids at a house party, cheering with solo cups; Cheerleaders cheering at a football game; Prom king and queen riding in the back of a convertible, waving to the camera. EVE What the hell!? Why do you have pictures of this? DR. EMIL Theres just a few more. A picture of Nick standing with his dad, smiling. Eve jumps out of her chair.

45. EVE WHAT THE HELL!? Dr. Emil flips to the next picture: A picture of Eve on the day she was adopted by Hannah, just six years old. Both smiling. FUCK YOU! EVE (CONTD)

Eve removes her fMRI tiara and throws it against the wall. SMASH! The tiara flies to bits and the display cracks, refracting the image of Eve and Hannah into 8 copies along the break. Eve rushes out the room. Wait! DR. EMIL

Dr. Emil rushes to the doorway. RECEPTION AREA DR. EMIL (CONTD) (to the Corporal) Stop her! The Corporal stands up. Eve glares at her.

EVE Dont touch me. The Corporal and Dr. Emil watch helplessly as Eve storms out. INT. SLEEPING QUARTERS - LATER Cadets mill about. Eve rushes past them, looking for Randy.

She finds him, sitting Indian style on top of their three tiered bunk, talking to Olivia. Without stopping, Eve flips herself up top by the rail, interrupting their conversation. EVE I need to talk to you. Okay? RANDY

EVE Like now Randy!

46. OLIVIA Ill give you some privacy. EVE Its okay. You can stay. Watch out for the O.F.C.s. OLIVIA You got it. Olivia scoots to the edge, turning her head to survey the entrance. EVE Nick is here! What? Nick. here. RANDY EVE Our Nick. From home. Hes Just like us. I saw him.

RANDY Isnt he in jail? EVE I saw him in the psych lab. with Captain Lee. RANDY Did you talk to him? EVE Lee said Im not allowed to. She said if I mention this to anyone shes gonna send me home! RANDY I wont say anything. EVE Apparently its some big secret. His uniform was black... All black. RANDY A black uniform? The door to the sleeping quarters slides open. Captain Lee enters. He was

47. OLIVIA (sotto) Captain Lee! EVE She probably has a black uniform somewhere. OLIVIA Shes here! Oh shit! Ten-hut! EVE WOLF

The cadets rush to line up in front of their appropriate bunks and snap to attention, under the stern gaze of Sergeant Wolf. At ease. CAPTAIN LEE

The cadets stand at ease. CAPTAIN LEE (CONTD) For the last six months I have been watching you. While you eat, while you sleep, while you fight, bitch, moan, and whine. And I ask myself, how can a bunch of spoiled kids win a war? There is only one answer. Because you have to. Tomorrow, the real work begins. We are heading to the moon for lunar maneuvers. Its time to put the Space in Space Navy. Report to the Quartermaster for your permanent assignments. CUT TO: INT. WOMENS LOCKER ROOM - LATER The girls are getting decked out in their new uniforms. Mostly the colors are Green (Sailers) and some Brown (Utility). Rarer are the Red (Medicine) and Blue (Science) uniforms. Olivia is admiring her new Red uniform in the mirror, Martinez stenciled above the left breast. The Red jacket is sleek but formally cut, hanging down past the waist, halfway to a lab coat, with similar pockets.

48. Eve walks up to the neighboring mirror, wearing Brown. The Brown uniform is cut to be form-fitting, curvaceous, and stylish. Olivia, still smiling, finally notices Eves reflection in the mirror. Her smile turns to shock. All the kids know Brown is the color given to the weakest links. EVE (re my uniform) What? You dont like it? Eve turns to show her figure in the mirror, revealing the skin tight nature of the outfit. EVE (CONTD) If aliens show up in the club, I'll be ready. Olivia laughs, despite herself. OLIVIA Oh my god. Why does it look like that? Its like(pantomimes large breasts) It shows everything! EVE I think they are trying to shame us from getting fat. I dont look fat, do I? OLIVIA What? No. Thats not right. It just shouldnt be so, I dont know... sexualized. EVE The guys uniforms are just as tight. Especially in the(gesturing) -crotch region. Oh my god. OLIVIA

They laugh, Olivia turning red. Finally, Olivia turns serious. OLIVIA (CONTD) You shouldnt be wearing brown at all.

49. EVE I didnt know we had a choice. OLIVIA You know what I mean. EVE Dont worry about me. At least they got you right. You look awesome. OLIVIA You think so? Eve steps next to Olivia, putting her arm around her. EVE If anything happens to me, and they need to cut me open, I want you to do it. OLIVIA Since I dont know anything yet, youll probably die. But it will be a good learning experience. EVE (mock serious) Youve lost another one, Dr. Martinez. Were starting to lose track. But at least your learning! OLIVIA (smiling) Shut up. INT. EXPERIMENTATION LAB - LATER The remains of the dead Spider have been mounted to an examination table. Using a surgical saw, Doctor Feynman cuts a Y incision in then abdomen, pulling apart the flesh to reveal the bloody insides. Captain Lee watches the procedure intensely. Standing guard by the lab door is the fearsome looking LIEUTENANT VIKTOR. He has an eye patch over his left eye, and wears a unique all-Black uniform, designed to be intimidating. A faint alert chime sounds. Its the door buzzer. Chiming repeatedly. Captain Lee is too focused on the Doctor pulling out strange internal organs to notice.

50. VIKTOR

Sir?

CAPTAIN LEE What is it? VIKTOR You have a visitor. CAPTAIN LEE Get rid of him. VIKTOR Its Sergeant Wolf. Captain Lee punches some controls and the display flips to a camera showing the other side of the lab door: Sergeant Wolf is pressing the door buzzer repeatedly. Lee presses a button and the lab door opens. walks in, eyeing Viktor as he walks by. Viktor. Wolf. WOLF VIKTOR Sergeant Wolf

Sergeant Wolf surveys the Alien Spider suspiciously. Go ahead. CAPTAIN LEE

WOLF Captain, I just gave the cadets their assignments. And? CAPTAIN LEE

WOLF Well, Sir, I think theres been a mix-up. CAPTAIN LEE The kids are already complaining? WOLF No sir. I just think one cadet should be reassigned. CAPTAIN LEE Let me guess. Miss Evers?

51. WOLF Exactly sir.

Yes sir.

CAPTAIN LEE I knew you had a hard-on for her. WOLF (offended) NO SIR! Thats not what I meant. CAPTAIN LEE Relax Sergeant. Its a joke. But with how upset you got, maybe not. WOLF (controlled, emotionless) That is not the case sir. CAPTAIN LEE Well, either way, shes not going anywhere. I put her with the brownies for a reason. You didnt see her psyche results. She doesnt give a shit about the rules. And she has absolutely no respect for authority. WOLF Those are the fires that forge great leaders. She inspires her fellow cadets. They all look up to her. CAPTAIN LEE Dont lecture me about leadership, SERGEANT. WOLF My mistake sir! CAPTAIN LEE Ill tell you what, Wolf. Im going to transfer Miss Evers. But not to Command. Im transferring her to infantry. You can have her. Lets see how inspiring she is smeared across a battlefield. Sergeant Wolf glares silently. CAPTAIN LEE (CONTD) Something else, Sergeant?

52. WOLF

No sir.

CAPTAIN LEE (impatient) Dismissed. EXT. LOCKER ROOMS - MOMENTS LATER Sergeant Wolf stands outside, surveying the cadets as they emerge in their new uniforms. WOLF Move it cadets. hustle it up. Roll call. Lets

Simon Lagrange is standing near Sergeant Wolf, wearing a Gold uniform (Command.) Its more pompous than the others with gilded shoulder bars and a detailed Space Marine Anchor and Stars logo above the right breast. SIMON LAGRANGE You heard him cadets. Move it! Move it! Move it! Sergeant Wolf rolls his eyes, already irritated. Eve and Olivia emerge from the Locker Room. WOLF Cadet Evers. Front and center. Olivia heads off to roll call and Eve approaches. Simon, eavesdropping on the fuss, leers at Eve in her new uniform. Yes sir? EVE

WOLF Youve been reassigned. What? EVE

WOLF Return to the Quartermaster on the double for your new kit. Yes sir. EVE Thank you sir.

WOLF Dont thank me yet.

53. EXT. ASSEMBLY HALL The cadets assembled on their numbers 1-50, wearing their new uniforms. Full of pride. Most wear Green, the standard sailors outfit. Others wear Brown service/utility uniforms. Just a handful wear the special Blue Science and Red Medical uniforms. Simon is the only one a Gold uniform, standing up front, next to Sergeant Wolf, glaring at the empty number 7, Eves number. Sergeant Wolf enters the Assembly Hall. Attention! SIMON LAGRANGE

Cadets come to attention. At ease. Cadets at ease. WOLF (CONTD) We are going to the moon. Listen to me carefully. We are going to the moon. You are about to join the ranks of the hallowed few who have escaped the bounds of this great earth. Consider yourselves lucky. The moon is beautiful, but deadly. She will change you, but she asks a cruel price. You slip up once, and youre gonna stay there forever. You understand me cadets? CADETS (in unison) Yes sir! Good. WOLF Now listen up. WOLF

Simon retrieves a tablet. SIMON LAGRANGE (reading) Medicine - report to the medical wing. Dr. Gallo. ScienceChemicals Lab, Dr. Feynman.

54. A that moment, Eve walks in wearing her new uniform: White and Black camouflage, covering a sleek, combat ready suit with chest plates and reinforced fists. The outfit of the Space Marines. A smaller version of the intimidating suit that Sergeant Wolf wears. The fellow cadets gape in awe. SIMON LAGRANGE (CONTD) Did you forget how to count? What? Line up! EVE SIMON LAGRANGE

WOLF Negative Simon. Shes with me. (waving) Over here Evers. Yes sir. EVE

Eve joins Sergeant Wolf. WOLF That uniform suits you better. Yes sir. EVE

WOLF Welcome to the Space Marines. Hoo-ahh. EVE

Sergeant Wolf gives her a fist bump. The reinforced alloy knuckles built into their gloves clank together. EXT. LAUNCH BAYS - MORNING Three massive Spaceships are lined up into parallel launch bays. The bays themselves rotate 90 degrees vertical in the moments before launch, but now lay flat to accept loads of people are cargo. The spaceships appear like massive versions of the space shuttle, from which they get their names: ATLANTIS; DISCOVERY; and ENDEAVOUR. Most of the ship is cargo and crew space, with a small cockpit up front.

55. Up an down the gangways between the three ships stand cadets lined up by color, organizing gear and preparing to board. In two of the ships cargo bays, men and women in Brown (aka Brownies) load equipment and food under the watchful eye of an Officer in Gold. SHUTTLE ATLANTIS CARGO BAY The cargo bay of the third ship is reserved for the Marines. Using a fork lift and brute strength, three tough looking Marines load crates of weapons and ammo in a practiced fashion, led by SGT. TIBBS (29). Sergeant Wolf observes. Eve stands next to him, holding a tablet, serving as his assistant. Tibbs returns with the forklift and the last crate, shaped like a childs coffin. WOLF Hold up Tibbs. Tibbs stops. TIBBS What is it boss? WOLF I dont recognize that crate. Eve scans the crate with her tablet. EVE (reading tablet) Plasma redundancy cores for the AR130 Anti-air rifle. WOLF Plasma redundancy cores? EVE Thats what it says. WOLF Whose the owner? EVE Captain Lee. WOLF Open the crate Tibbs.

56. TIBBS

Sir?

WOLF Im pretty sure theres no such thing as a plasma redundancy core. Captain Lee thinks us Marines are stupid. Tibbs nods to his two man crew. They produce a drill screwdriver and start unbolting the crate. Inside is a large cone shaped object with a digital panel: A Hydrogen Bomb. Sergeant Wolf recognizes it immediately. WOLF (CONTD) (sotto) Holy shit. Eve notices Captain Lee and Viktor coming down the gangway towards the loading area. Sir! EVE Everyone else

Sergeant Wolf turns to confront Captain Lee. salutes.

Eve stares in cold fascination at Viktor in his Black uniform. WOLF What the hell is this Juko? CAPTAIN LEE Calm down Sergeant. WOLF Its a fucking nuke! CAPTAIN LEE Keep your voice down. I know what it is. Now put the lid back on. Tibbs hesitates. WOLF What is it for? CAPTAIN LEE The brass wants to test fire it out of the new battleship.

57. WOLF Jesus. That sounds stupid. And dangerous. You could have told me. CAPTAIN LEE This one was above your pay grade, old man. Nothing I could do. Now close it up and lock it down. We got a rocket to catch. Yes maam. TIBBS

Tibbs and his crew reseal the crate and load it. Viktor and Lee head for the command section in the nose of the ship, Captain Lee ordering the different sections to begin boarding as she passes. They begin to file inside. Sir?! EVE

WOLF What is it cadet? EVE Who was that with the Captain? WOLF Lieutenant Viktor Plushenko. Head of the Lunar Intelligence Agency A K A the Blackguards... Viktors a spook. A spook? EVE

WOLF You know, a spy. EVE Who does he spy on? Wolf shrugs. WOLF I dont know. But you cant trust him... How do you know a spy is lying? EVE His lips are moving?

58. WOLF You know that one. EVE What about Captain Lee? WOLF Shes more devious. Her lips dont even need to be moving. INT. SPACESHIP ATLANTIS - MOMENTS LATER MARINES SEATING AREA The platoon of Marines are strapped into sturdy chairs, held further in place by chest restraints, like a roller coaster. Sergeant Wolf and Eve are the last two to enter the seating area. Theres an empty seat next to a window. TIBBS We saved the window seat for you cadet. Eve smiles and takes the seat, Tibbs helping to strap her into the chair. WOLF (pointing up) The Aliens are up there Marines. But theyre not coming for us... were coming for them. Time to write some history boys! MARINES (in unison) Hoo-ahh! A yellow warning strobe flashes, indicating that launch is imminent. Marines brace themselves against their restraints. Sergeant Wolf smacks down on Eves chest restraint, ensuring its in place. WOLF (to Eve) You good? Yes sir. EVE

59. Sergeant Wolf straps himself into his chair. The flashing yellow turns to red, and the huge launch bays begin rotating upward, lifting Atlantis to face nose up. The shuttles massive engines ignite with a deep bass rumble. With a roar, the Atlantis lifts off, followed by Discovery and finally Endeavour. Like everyone on board, Eve is slammed back into her seat by the massive acceleration. She grunts and strains, trying to keep enough blood in her head to stay conscious. The view out the window transforms from blue, to light blue, and finally to black. Suddenly there is silence, stillness. Atlantis is in space. The Marines watch out the portholes. Earth recedes in the distance, and Eve gets her first view of the blue planet in its entirety. PLANET EARTH FROM SPACE Eve starts to cry, overwhelmed with a feeling of smallness, insignificance. But also feeling part of some grand cosmic harmony. Eve tries smearing away her tears, but they fly off as weightless orbs. Tibbs offers a handkerchief. Eve takes it appreciatively. I sorry. EVE (CONTD)

TIBBS Dont be sorry. Its beautiful. You should feel it... Thats why were here. TIME CUT: EXT. THE MOON Spaceship Atlantis on approach. EXT. LUNA BASE - CONTINUOUS Luna Base is a large complex of modular buildings, connected by a web of air locks and tunnels.

60. LUNA DRY DOCKS Behind Luna Base are the massive Luna Dry Docks, the site for the emergency program to build ships capable of combating the aliens in space. GALAXY CLASS BATTLECRUISER The first model, Zeus, is still mostly hull and scaffolding. The keel on number 2, Apollo, is just being laid. Workers buzz around in space suits with laser welding tools. LUNA SPACE PORT The Atlantis lands on a specialized runway using skids. Thrusters in her nose fire up to halt her forward momentum. Workers in space suits attach cables to the skids, which retract to pull the Atlantis neatly into her berth. Other workers extend flexible air-locked tunnels and attach them directly to Atlantis exit doors. INT. SPACESHIP ATLANTIS - MOMENTS LATER MARINES SECTION The Marines, including Tibbs, Eve, and Wolf in back, line up at the airlock, waiting to disembark. The airlock warning light turns from red to green with a pleasant chime. Tibbs opens the door. The Marines file out.

Eve is walking in front of Sergeant Wolf. She cant help but bob up and down off the ground because of the gravity. Sergeant Wolf grabs a hold of her and settles her back on the ground. WOLF Turn your boots on cadet. Eve activates a switch on her boots. Electromagnets in the soles come alive, which keep Eve safely attached to the floor. The Marines file through the tunnel, which opens up into Luna Central.

61. INT. LUNA CENTRAL - MOMENTS LATER The hub of military activity on the moon. Soldiers in every colored uniform can be spotted. Scientists (Blue) headed towards the labs. Doctors/nurses (Red) entering exiting the Luna Clinic, helping turn it into a proper field hospital. Sailers (Green) heading towards the communication kiosks, to send messages back home. All types of people, including civilian workers, coming from the cafeteria. And finally, at the top level: the Command Center. Lee and Viktor disappear inside. Captain

The Marines cut through the chaos, Tibbs leading the way to the combat barracks at the rear of the building. One wall of the hub is all windows. Through it, Eve gets her first glimpse of the massive Battlecruiser Zeus. She stops walking, captured in awe by the size and power of the ship. WOLF (re the Zeus) Shes impressive, isnt she? EVE Why do you call her she? WOLF All ships are women. Why? EVE

WOLF Its always been that way. Its from way back when men sailed under the stars, not around them... Its for good luck. EVE Lucky us, I guess. INT. MARINE COMBAT BARRACKS Spartan and functional. Beds, with kits, and storage lockers, each stenciled with a name. Hanging in each storage locker is a hi-tech spacesuit, designed in matching Black and White camouflage. Sergeant Wolf points at the rack stenciled with Evers.

62. WOLF Thats you cadet. Yes sir. EVE

Eve stows her pack and begins examining her EVO (Extra Vehicular Operations) suit. Evers is stenciled clearly on the breast plate. WOLF Try it on now. Make sure you can breathe. If you cant figure out where the plumbing goes, ask Tibbs. TIBBS (embarrassed) Uh. Sir? Maybe we should find a woman to help her with all that. EVE Ill figure it out. TIBBS Well give you some privacy. Embarrassed Marines quickly file out an amused Eve starts to remove her duty fatigues, revealing her sports bra.

EXT. LUNA BASE VEHICLE STAGING AREA Four lunar vehicles are lined up in a convoy, preparing to depart. In the front is a Space Marine combat jeep, known as Bobcat, or just Cat. It looks like a humvee with oversize tires. Each Cat holds four armed Marines in space suits. drives. Wolf rides shotgun. Eve sits in back. Tibbs

The three vehicles behind are large troop and cargo transports with similarly oversize tires. Under Simons watchful eye, a line of cadets board, including Olivia and Randy. INT. BOBCAT ONE - CONTINUOUS An order comes over the radio:

63. CAPTAIN LEE (V.O.) Convoy Charlie. Move out. BACK TO: EXT. LUNA BASE In single file, the convoy departs from Luna Base, leaving neat tracks in the gray soil. TIME CUT: EXT. MOON The convoy crawls along the vast, monotonous, and gray surface of the moon. The convoy passes a lone American flag, marking the landing site for Apollo 11. TIME CUT: EXT. FORT OLYMPUS Fort Olympus is a remote outpost that serves as a training base for new cadets. The structures look like large white camping tents, overinflated with oxygen, connected by flexible circular tubes. The Fort is staffed with a skeleton crew. The only person visible outside is a Marine standing Guard behind a checkpoint. The convoy approaches. CUT TO: INT. BOBCAT ONE EVE (expecting more) Thats Fort Olympus? WOLF You dont approve Cadet? EVE No sir. Uh... I mean, it just doesnt look very fortified.

64. WOLF Thats why they brought the Marines. Hoo-ahh! MARINES

Sergeant Wolf makes a familiar gesture to the Guard, who waves the convoy through. WOLF Check your helmets. Marines activate helmets, which extend from the neck of the suit automatically. Theyh give Sergeant Wolf collective thumbs up. An airlock siren goes off, and the doors open with a blast of frozen vapor. Eve and the Marines exit, standing watch as their fellow cadets exit the transport. Cadets in brown begin unloading materials and food. In the black sky, the blue Earth looms large. TIME CUT: THE EARTH RISES, THE EARTH SETS CUT TO: INT. MESS HALL/FORT OLYMPUS - LATER Eve is lined up behind other cadets waiting to use the food service machine. Using the machine is a cadet in standard green, who looks just like Nick from behind. Eve stares in fascination... which turns to disappointment when she sees the cadets face. Its not Nick. Before Eve can take her turn, Simon cuts to the front of line. SIMON LAGRANGE (rude) Excuse me, cadet. Eve uses her arm to invite Simon ahead of her. EVE Ladies first. Simon glares but goes ahead.

65. Finally its Eves turn, and she inserts a tray in the machine. Five nozzles dispense exact portions of hi-tech food, the consistency of soft serve ice cream. Eve raises the tray to her nose and sniffs the pink liquefied puddle. She frowns. But at least the soda machine is normal, just like back home. She fills her cup, and looks for a seat. Cadets fill the tables, looking tired, eating with varying degrees of success. In the back row, Simon, in gold, sits by himself. Next to him, Eve spots Randy and Olivia sitting together, their blue and red uniforms standing out. Clearly they have become close friends. As Eve approaches their table, Olivia slides her tray of unfinished food in front of Randy. Hes already finished his dinner, and starts digging into Olivias. OLIVIA How do you like that stuff? RANDY (mouth full of food) It tastes good. You just got to ignore the texture. I just think of it as baby food. OLIVIA Baby food is not pink. RANDY (eating the pink meat puddle) I think its sirloin steak today. Gross. OLIVIA

EVE (approaching) Hey ladies. OLIVIA (saluting in jest) Hello marine. RANDY (still eating) Chicken nuggets tonight! OLIVIA You said it was sirloin steak.

66. RANDY (tasting his food again) Actually, Im not sure. Gross. EVE

Eve sits and starts picking at her food, starting with semi normal white mash potatoes. Eve sees Simon watching from the next table, so she lowers her voice. EVE (CONTD) (hushed) Have you seen Nick by any chance? No. RANDY

OLIVIA The guy in the black uniform... EVE He was one of our friends from home. RANDY He shot his dad. He killed him.

EVE No he didnt! Randy doesnt know that. OLIVIA What happened? RANDY Well, he showed up to school with a gun, right after his dad got shot with it. And the police arrested him. OLIVIA And they made him a cadet? EVE I think they made him part of Captain Lees Bodyguard. Oh my god. OLIVIA Like Viktor!?

67. EVE Yeah. I think so. Viktor?

You know

OLIVIA Oh yeah. I was in the Medical Lab when he came in for an eye exam. I saw underneath his eye patch. EVE What was it. OLIVIA Hes got an eye under there. But its not a human eye.. Its red, and robotic, like the Terminator. Hes got a Terminator eye. RANDY I wonder if that means Nick is going to get one too. Eve unconsciously touches her eye, then moves her hand away, pretending to wipe something from her eye. RANDY (CONTD) (re Eves food) Are you gonna finish that? EVE (sliding her tray over) Go ahead. Eve watches Randy eat, partially disgusted, partially impressed. EVE (CONTD) Im going out to the dark side tomorrow. OLIVIA Really? Cool! I heard its so dark you cant tell if your eyes are open. Why? RANDY

EVE Were running patrol while some techies check the radar net... You guys wanna come?

68. OLIVIA

How?

EVE Ill ask Sergeant Wolf. He said were bringing a Medic anyways. Awesome! OLIVIA I would love to go.

EVE What about you, Randy? No. RANDY Uh-uh. EVE

Why not?

RANDY Why? Its dangerous. Its negative 211 degrees Celsius on the dark side. EVE Goddamnit Randy, itll be good for you. Youre coming. No way. Well see. I said no! RANDY EVE RANDY

Eve just smiles back, slightly wicked. EXT. FORT OLYMPUS - LATER VEHICLE STAGING AREA Eve and Randy, in their EVO suits, head towards two waiting Bobcats. Randy has a high-tech computer slung over his shoulder, used to perform diagnostic on radar equipment. Eve carries her rifle. (Inside their EVO suits, communication is done through microphones in the helmets.)

69. RANDY I hate you, you know. EVE Thats not a good attitude. beautiful day today. RANDY Are you kidding me? EVE (pointing into the sky) Look at the earth. Randy looks up, transfixed for a moment as the bright blue earth reflects off his helmet glass. SIMON LAGRANGE What are you idiots waiting for? Lets go. Eve and Randy turn to see Simon standing by the Bobcat door. An unpleasant surprise. They swith their radios to a private channel. RANDY What is he doing here? EVE I dont know. RANDY You didnt know he was going to be here? Hell no! EVE Its a

SIMON LAGRANGE Captain Lee saidWOLF I dont give a fuck what she said. Eve and Randy look at each other in surprise and amusement.

70. EVE He doesnt like Simon either. Simon rushes away to Bobcat Two, a maintenance version, carrying repair equipment. Driving is Tibbs. Also on board is a lanky Science Tech named LIEUTENANT ANDERSON (36). WOLF (waving at Eve and Randy) Lets roll cadets. Wolf, Eve, Randy, and Olivia enter Bobcat One. The Bobcats depart, leaving trails of moon dust behind them, heading towards the dark side. TIME CUT: EXT. RADAR TOWER ALPHA, LUNAR SURFACE - LATER The Radar Tower is a large steel tripod, twenty five feet tall, situated on top of a fortified concrete shack. At the top spins a delicate but advanced radar dish, scanning the horizon. Running alongside the Tower is the line of demarcation between darkness and light. THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON Beyond the Line is a absolute darkness. depth or form. A darkness without

The Bobcats stop and the crews emerge, the Marines holding rifles and Anderson holding diagnostic gear. ANDERSON Let me show you the setup inside Randy. Okay. RANDY

Simon follows the pair into the shack. WOLF Keep an eye on them, Tibbs. Yes sir. Tibbs follows Simon. TIBBS

71. Wolf turns to gaze into the darkness. Eve and Olivia stand nearby, watching him. Wolf approaches the Line and crosses over, vanishing into the darkness. OLIVIA Where the hell is he going? EVE I dont know. Olivias wrist monitor displays the crews vital signs. She switches it to Wolfs. His 98.6 degree body temp is already dropping... 98.5...98.4...98.3. Olivia shows the display to Eve, who rushes right up to the Line. EVE (CONTD) Sergeant Wolf! Sergeant Wolf come in! Olivia double checks her display: 97.6...97.5...97.4. EVE (CONTD) We have to go get him. How? OLIVIA

EVE Sergeant Tibbs, come in! TIBBS (V.O.) Go ahead cadet. Sergeant Wolf crosses back over the Line, materializing from the darkness. EVE Sergeant Wolf! WOLF (shivering cold) Tibbs, this is Wolf. company out here. Yes sir.

72. Wolf gives unheard directions to Tibbs and points towards the dark side. INT. RADAR SHACK - MOMENTS LATER Andersons computer is plugged into the main radar interface. On the screen is a radar display, showing two small dots near the center. The Bobcats. Anderson is showing Randy how to run the radar diagnostic. A light on Andersons computer turns green. ANDERSON (pointing at his computer) You see? It will turn green when the diagnostic is finished. Then we just have to log out and were done. RANDY What if something is wrong? ANDERSON The secondary status light would turn red(points) -Here. But you shouldnt have to worry about that. Its always green. This stuff is stable. Its been around, for like, almost twenty years. Anderson types of few more keystrokes, then unplugs his computer. Sergeant Wolf enters the shack and sees Anderson packing up his computer. WOLF Plug it back in. What? ANDERSON We just finished.

WOLF I need you to check something for me. SIMON LAGRANGE We dont have time for that Sergeant. We have four more towers to go.

73. WOLF Didnt I tell you to shut up already? SIMON LAGRANGE Captain Lee put me in charge. Pack up the equipment Lieutenant Anderson, and lets get moving. WOLF Anderson, plug it back in. Yes sir. ANDERSON

SIMON LAGRANGE This is insubordination, you know that? Youre gonna be court marshalled for this! WOLF (re Simon) Get him outta here. Yes sir. EVE

Eve roughly manhandles Simon out of the shack, sealing the door behind him. Meanwhile, Anderson is reconnecting his computer. ANDERSON What are we looking for, sir? WOLF I need to see the radar logs for the last twenty four hours. Anderson types of few keystrokes. RADAR DISPLAY SCREEN The screen is empty. reads: [-24:00:00]. Anderson starts playback, and the clock begins ticking down: [-23:59:59] etc. A clock in the corner of the display

74. RADAR SHACK Everyone watches the display intently, Wolf leaning in close. Times passes, and the display remains empty. Finally, two dots appear from the west, crawling towards the center, and finally stopping. The Bobcats. The clock reads [00:00:00]. ANDERSON The only radar hits registered are the two Bobcats we drove it on. WOLF I saw something out there, in the darkness. ANDERSON Past the Line? Yeah. WOLF

ANDERSON Well the radars empty. Randy has been staring at his small computer screen intently. Suddenly he points at a section of data: the raw digital feed from the dish. RANDY (tapping the screen) Look at this. ANDERSON (puzzled) The diagnostics are all normal. RANDY No. I mean, this data is the raw digital feed from the dish, right? Yeah. So? ANDERSON

RANDY Look at quadrant two and three. ANDERSON The numbers are all the same.

75. RANDY I mean, you would expect small variations right? A crater filling with soil, a buildup of static electricity, something. But all the numbers are IDENTICAL. Anderson begins clacking rapidly on his keyboard. The clock begins zooming backwards. [-48:00:00, -96:00:00, -144:00:00] The data never changes. to [00:00:00]. Shit. Shit what? The clock reaches the end and resets

ANDERSON WOLF

RANDY Someones ghosting the data feed! What!? WOLF

ANDERSON Someone hacked into the dish and is sending it garbage data. WOLF It shows the two bobcats. RANDY Whoever hacked it only disabled the second and third quadrants. WOLF Everything past the Line. Yes sir. ANDERSON

WOLF Can you fix it? ANDERSON I dont know... Yes sir. RANDY

WOLF Get it done.

76. RANDY ANDERSON

Yes sir.

Yes sir.

CUT TO: EXT. RADAR SHACK - MOMENTS LATER The crew emerges from the shack airlock. Eve takes a covered position and watches the line with her rifle. Randy, Wolf, and Anderson approach the base of the radar tripod, and the rung ladder that leads to the dish at the top. EVE Staring into the endless, swallowing darkness past the Line. She turns to see: BOBCAT TWO Simon talking on the radio, reporting something unheard to someone unknown. LADDER Randy takes an unsteady step, and nervously mounts the ladder. He goes rung by rung, slow and awkward. WOLF (to Randy) You weigh less than thirty pounds on the moon. If you fall its not gonna hurt. RANDY With the suit on, its more like forty. And its still going to hurt. WOLF Fine. Ill catch you. Dont think about it. Just climb. She throws up the Devil

Randy makes sees Eve, watching him. Horns salute.

Randy, more determined, ascends to the top of the ladder, to an eagles nest where the dish can be examined.

77. EAGLES NEST Randy wiggles around, trying to find a secure place to stand. Satisfied, he removes a protective cover to reveal a snaking mess of electronics and circuitry. Randy pushes things out of the way, searching for a particular cable, which he follows inch by inch. Then he sees it, the Ghosting Device, a small black box installed inconspicuously behind the power mainframe. RANDY I found it! WOLF Nice work cadet! deactivate it? RANDY I think so. Randy pulls on the Device. But its stuck. So Randy puts his full weight into it. Finally the device starts to come loose. But the device is attached to an explosive booby trap. soon as Randy pulls it free: BOOM!!! The explosion cracks Randys helmet mask and sends him flying off the tower. In the moons 1/6th relative gravity, Randy falls vertically in slow motion, but his horizontal velocity is earth normal. So he is launched away from the radar tower, flying over the Line, to vanish completely into the dark side. RANDY! EVE As Can you

Eve slings her rifle over her shoulder and rushes without hesitation over the line, into the dark side, after Randy. EXT. DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - CONTINUOUS Total darkness. Randy! Just the glow of Eves wrist monitor. EVE

78. Eve stumbles down an unseen cliff, her mask beginning to frost with ice. EVE (CONTD) (getting colder) RANDY! Eve continues to stumble through the cold darkness, the soil reaching up to her knees in the lee of the cliff. She stumbles on, teeth chattering now. She holds her wrist monitor out in front, desperate for even the feeble light. The light catches something: A GEYSER OF FOG Eve rushes to it. Randy! EVE (CONTD)

Randy is laying on his back in two feet of soil. The geyser is flooding from the crack in his face mask. Then the geyser stops. Randy is out of air. EVE (CONTD) (sotto) Oh my god Randy! Thinking fast, Eve turns Randy over, shoving his face in the dirt to plug the crack in his mask. She detaches Randys oxygen hose. Then Eve detaches her own oxygen hose with a hiss. Eve connects her oxygen hose to Randys helmet. EVE (CONTD) (freezing cold) Sergeant Wolf! Sergeant Wolf come in! WOLF (V.O.) (static) ..... ...... ...... .... ... cadet! EVE (losing consciousness) I found Randy. I need help.

79. WOLF (V.O.) (total static) ..... ...... ..... ..... ..... EVE (sleepy, softly) Im sleepy... Eve stares up at the earth, glowing bright in the darkness. Then she passes out. Beat. The glare of two headlights rips through the darkness. Swerving, searching. Bass vibrations roaring from the Bobcats engine, pushing the vehicle through the dirt. The headlights find Eve and Randy, collapsed together. Bobcat stops. Olivia and Sergeant Wolf jump out. The headlights frost over and begin to crack. Hurry! WOLF The

Olivia grabs Eve in a firemans carry and Sergeant Wolf grabs Randy with one hand, rushing them back to the Bobcat. INT. BOBCAT ONE - CONTINUOUS Sergeant Wolf floors it, flipping a U turn. The Bobcat crosses the Line, and is flooded with sunlight. Olivia checks her wrist monitor. Eve does not. Olivia removes Eves helmet. Randy has a faint pulse.

Eves face is ashen gray. Sergeant Wolf CUT TO:

Olivia starts performing chest compressions. looks back. Its too late.

INT. COMMAND TENT, FORT OLYMPUS - LATER Wolf and Anderson are seated at a briefing table. Captain Lee stands opposite, looking down at them, in a position of authority. Viktor guards the door.

80. CAPTAIN LEE I sent you out there to run a diagnostics check, is that correct? ANDERSON (timid) Yes maam. CAPTAIN LEE Sergeant Wolf? Yes sir. WOLF

CAPTAIN LEE What were the results? ANDERSON Well, it passed. But there was an anomaly in the data. CAPTAIN LEE AN ANOMALY WITH THE DATA!!! YOU BLEW A PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING RADAR TOWER TO SHIT!!! WOLF It was an unfortunate circumstance sir. CAPTAIN LEE You sent the fat kid up a ladder, to mess with the electronics. And he almost blows his fucking face off. WOLF His name is Randy... Sir CAPTAIN LEE Great. Dear Randys mom. blew your sons face off. Sergeant is a moron. Sorry we My

WOLF I take full responsibility sir. CAPTAIN LEE Yes you will. From now on, all patrols are grounded. Your platoon will be on exterior guard duty until further notice.

CAPTAIN LEE Lieutenant Anderson. Yes sir. ANDERSON

CAPTAIN LEE I expected more from you. Yes sir. ANDERSON

CAPTAIN LEE Get out of my sight. Anderson and Sergeant Wolf both rise, snapping salutes, before marching out. INT. HOSPITAL TENT, FORT OLYMPUS - LATER Eve lays in a hospital bed, unconscious, an IV line in her arm. A vital sign monitor beeps a slow, rhythmic pulse. The pulse quickens, and Eve wakes up, disoriented. is holding her hand. Someone

Its Nick. He looks older, wearier. Still dressed in black, now including a black eye patch. His other eye is red, watery from emotion. Eve sees him, recognizes him. Her eyes go wide, and she starts to tear up. Then she notices his eye patch. EVE What happened to you!? NICK Youre worried about me? Eve lifts the patch and sees a mechanical red eye underneath, identical to Viktors. EVE (sad, compassionate) Oh my god. They butchered you. Nick withdrawals from Eves touch and carefully replaces the patch over his red robotic eye.

82. NICK No. No they didnt. volunteered.

EVE Why would you do that? NICK Its better than being human. I can see in the dark. Now

Eve suddenly remembers the incident that brought her here. She lurches out of bed. EVE Oh my god Randy! Nick gently restraints Eve from standing up, easing her back down into bed. NICK Dont worry about Randy. Hes totally fine. I think hes probably five or ten pounds more than fine since hes been eating your meals. EVE Thank god. (smiling) That food is nasty. NICK You saved his life, you know. He said it wasnt the first time. EVE I was the one who dragged him out there. He didnt wanna go. NICK Well, he thinks you are a hero. Please. EVE

NICK Hes not the only oneOlivia enters the room. She smiles wide, seeing Eve awake.

83. OLIVIA Damn it girl! Do you know how bad you scared me!? Im fine. EVE See?

Eve makes a stupid face. OLIVIA It looks like brain damage to me. Both girls laugh. Olivia places her stethoscope on Eves chest. OLIVIA (CONTD) I need a few deep breathes. Eve huffs in and out. Good. OLIVIA (CONTD)

Olivia gets a message on her wrist monitor. OLIVIA (CONTD) (to Nick) Sergeant Wolf is on his way. NICK I have to go. No! EVE

NICK Ill see you soon. Nick leans over to give Eve a kiss on the cheek, then heads out. NICK (CONTD) Thanks Olivia. OLIVIA No problem. Olivia shines a penlight into Eves eyes. Eve blinks away the glare. EVE Olivia Im fine!

84. OLIVIA Youve been unconscious for more than a week. A week! EVE

Eve spins and puts her feet on the floor. She starts pulling at the tape and tubing of her I.V. line. Blood starts trickling down her arm. OLIVIA Dont do that! EVE Help me take it out then! OLIVIA Fine. Stop messing with it and hold still. Olivia retrieves a bandage, then takes Eves wrist in her hand. OLIVIA (CONTD) Dr. Yamatos going to be pissed. EVE Just tell him I yanked it out. OLIVIA Oh, Im definitely blaming it on you. Olivia removes the IV, replacing it with a bandage which seeps red. Sergeant Wolf enters the room unnoticed. WOLF Going somewhere? Sergeant! EVE

WOLF Olivia, can you give us a moment? Yes sir. Olivia leaves. OLIVIA Of course sir.

85. WOLF How are you feeling cadet? EVE Im fine sir! Im ready to go. Eve stands up and salutes, but shes wobbly, and Sergeant Wolf has to grab her and ease her back to the bed. WOLF Relax marine. You need to get your strength back. Ill bring you some real food. EVE What about our mission? What happened to the radar tower? WOLF Its fried. Captain Lee shut it down and took it off the grid. EVE She probably blew the fucking thing up! WOLF Whoah now. You must still be dazed. (more softly) Careful what you say cadet. We dont know anything yet. EVE You think it was aliens? They came all this way to attach some made in China black box to our radar dish? WOLF I dont know. EVE So what? Thats it? about it? Just forget

WOLF I didnt say that. But you are stuck here for the next couple days. Just focus on getting your strength back. Eve considers Wolf, who winks. She realizes he has a secret plan and smiles. Then she goes serious in recollection:

86. EVE Its so cold on the dark side. WOLF (solemnly) I know. EVE Why would anything be out there? WOLF I dont know. Wolf retrieves something small from his pocket. WOLF (CONTD) This is for you. Sergeant Wolf puts the object into Eves bandaged hand. Its a medal: THE SPACE STAR (Designed to look stellar.) Eve is speechless, clearly moved. WOLF (CONTD) You earned it. EVE (solemnly) Thank you sir. WOLF That kid owes you his life. EVE Youre the one who saved us. WOLF Im the one that brought you here. A moment of silence. WOLF (CONTD) Rest up Marine, I need you at fighting strength EVE (saluting proudly) Yes sir.

87. Sergeant Wolf salutes back, turns on his heals, and leaves. Eve examines the backside of the medal. inscription: MOONRISE INT. BARRACKS, FORT OLYMPUS - LATER Cadets line up in front of Sergeant Wolf, exchanging curious murmurs. Beat. The door slides open, and Eve enters, wearing her Marine uniform, looking like her old self. The cadets go silent. Sergeant Wolf offers a faint smile, and his fist. Eve bumps it with her own. Spontaneously, the cadets salute. Eve returns the salute. The door behind her opens and Captain Lee emerges, Simon in tow. CAPTAIN LEE I see your feeling better cadet. Eve turns around and sees Captain Lee. EVE Uh, yes sir! CAPTAIN LEE Hopefully you learned your lesson. Yes sir. Line up. EVE CAPTAIN LEE The salutes drop. There is a small

(to Eve) How long were you in a coma, cadet? EVE Nine days sir. CAPTAIN LEE The next one of you is not going to be so lucky. For the next week, this base is on lock down. All patrols are canceled. Any exterior activity is strictly prohibited. Understood? CADETS (in unison) Yes sir! Good. CAPTAIN LEE Dismissed. CUT TO: INT. AIRLOCK TUNNELS, FORT OLYMPUS - LATER Eve is walking through the tunnels when emerges from and adjoining tunnel and walks with her. Hey. Hey. EVE RANDY

EVE Where are you going? RANDY Im supposed to report to the med lab. Me too. EVE Youre okay, right?

89. RANDY Are you? EVE

Yeah. Yeah. Beat.

EVE (CONTD) I think so... They arrive at the med lab door. INT. MED LAB Olivia is waiting for them. Hi guys! Hey. OLIVIA It slides open before them.

EVE Whats going on?

Olivia conspiratorially crooks her finger and points to the left. Eve and Randy turn to look: MED BAY Sergeant Wolf and Lt. Anderson each stand in front of an operating table. Each table contains an advanced space suit: one Tech Blue, one Space Marine White/Black camouflage. Each suit is connected with a tube to a large vat in the center. CUT TO: INT. MED BAY - MOMENTS LATER The operating tables have transformed into chairs, in which Randy and Eve now sit, wearing the new space suits. EVE (alarmed) Isnt that how you drown? ANDERSON Well, normally yes. But this is a special liquid, supersaturated with oxygen. (MORE)

90. ANDERSON (CONT'D) Due to the hydrostatic nature of the fluid, the bronchi in the lungs are able to capture oxygen and exchange it for CO2. WOLF Its just when you were a baby in your mommas fat tummy. Anderson prepares to activate Eves helmet. ANDERSON You will notice a slight drowning sensation thoughWHAT!? RANDY EXCUSE ME!? EVE

ANDERSON (CONTD) The sensation normally goes away after a few breaths. EVE (holding Anderson at bay) Hold on. Just give me a second. RANDY I dont know if I can do this. WOLF I need you out there, cadets. can do it. Beat. Eve raises up her hand in defiant Devil Horns salute. Fuck it. EVE Lets go. You

Anderson activates Eves helmet, which extends automatically from the suit. Then he does the same for Randy Anderson operates a control panel. A few beeps, and a pump begins filling the suits with soupy clear liquid. The liquid rises up in Eves helmet first, covering her mouth, then her nose. For a moment she is still, calm. Until suddenly her body jerks violently, again and again. WOLF (holding Eve down) Youre okay. Youre okay. Just relax.

Relax.

91. Eve settles back into her chair, calmer, focusing on breathing. In, and out. The liquid reaches Randys face. He starts to shriek in utter panic. A high pitch wail of near insanity. The liquid fills his suit, and the shrieking turns into an underwater version. His body begins shaking, like a seizure. Wolf pins Randy in the seat. Randy keeps shrieking.

WOLF (CONTD) Randy! Randy! Just breathe. Breathe! Olivia steps in. OLIVIA Excuse me sir. Wolfe steps aside. face close to his. Olivia grabs Randys helmet, putting her

OLIVIA (CONTD) (soothing) Randy. Im here. Everything is okay. Randy starts to calm down, his body relaxing. OLIVIA (CONTD) There you go. You know what to do. In... and out... Randys eyes roll forward and come into focus. He sees Olivia. Her compassionate eyes pull him back to awareness. OLIVIA (CONTD) In... and out... Randy starts to breath normally. Suddenly Eve clutches her chest in surprise. ANDERSON It feels warm? Eve nods her helmet yes. underwater. Her voice is clear but sounds

EVE Its fucking hot.

RADAR TOWER The murky headlights barely reveal the damaged tower. WOLF Get on the turret. Yes sir. EVE

94. Eve stands up, entering the overhead turret bubble. She flips a switch: A panel displays ARMED in red as electric motors swivel the gun into a firing position. The guns thermal display turns on, revealing nothing but cold dark blue ahead. Its hot. EVE (CONTD)

Sergeant Wolf puts the Nighthawk in drive and crosses the Line, entering the Dark Side. Temperatures drop even further, causing carbon dioxide frost to coat the windows in white. WOLF (smiling) Stay frosty people. EVE Thats another quote from Aliens. WOLF I know it! I like that movie. But I meant it ironically... Because everything is so frosty here. EVE (smiling) Very ironic sir. Reinforced glass in the passenger window begins to crack. Oh shit! Beat. RANDY

Waiting to see what happens.

The cracking stops. The windows hold. WOLF Were okay. Dont touch the glass. Randy nervously backs away from his cracked window. CUT TO: EXT. DARK SIDE OF THE MOON - LATER

Tibbs, in the passenger seat watches the radar display in the center console. It reveals nothing. WOLF (to Eve) You got anything on thermal? THERMAL DISPLAY Awash in dark blue/black. EVE Negative sir. Beat. BOOM!!! The Nighthawk is rocked with an explosion near the front passenger side. NIGHTHAWK EXTERIOR The front right axel is blown away, along with the right side tread. The Nighthawk is thrown into a sideways skid, pushing the soil in front of it like a bulldozer. NIGHTHAWK INTERIOR Sergeant Wolf wrestles violently with the steering wheel, managing to keep the Nighthawk upright until it grinds to a stop. WOLF Is anyone hurt!? CREW (staggered) No sir. No heat signatures anywhere.

96. RANDY What happened? WOLF We lost the starboard tread. (to Anderson) Lieutenant, grab your kit. Yes sir. ANDERSON

Wolfe, Tibbs, and Anderson turn on their helmet lamps, revealing the extent of the damage done to the Nighthawk. Anderson kneels to examine the wreckage of the front axel. ANDERSON The whole pinions been blown off. How? WOLF

ANDERSON I think we hit a mine. WOLF (frowning) Can you fix it? ANDERSON Maybe, if we can find the treadAt that moment, a bullet blows a neat circular hole in Andersons mask, burrowing through his head and out the back. He drops immediately, falling flat on his back, steam bellowing from the bullet hole.

97. The spurting blood starts to sizzle and boil before the cold ices it into a frozen red crystals. Wolf and Tibbs immediately hit the deck, killing their helmet lights. More bullets impact the Nighthawk and the surrounding dirt. WOLF CONTACT! CONTACT! BLACKHAWK INTERIOR Gunfire plinks against the metal hull. Another bullet shatters the rear passenger observation window, buzzing by Olivias head and ricocheting off the walls. Randy is terrified, making himself as small as possible. Eve swings the turret, switching the display to nightvision, and back to thermal, looking for any sign of the enemy. WOLF (V.O.) (CONTD) Anderson is hit. Hes down. Olivia immediately grabs her medical kit, preparing to climb over Randy. OLIVIA Open the door Randy! out! I need to get

Enemy gunfire is causing the rifles to heat up, revealing them clearly. EVE Multiple heat signature! FIRE!!! WOLF (V.O.) FIRE!!!

Eve pulls the trigger.

98. NIGHTHAWK CANNON The cannon roars to life, sending high velocity shells downrange, electric blue flame leaping from both barrels. THERMAL DISPLAY The enemy soldiers are revealed only when they are hit by cannon fire, and warm blood sprays in a colorful arc. A fierce bright light appears in the center of the display: AN ENEMY ROCKET PROPELLED GRENADE Flying towards the Nighthawk. The cannon adjusts slightly, and fires. HIT! The rocket explodes in the middle of the battlefield, casting the area in light, glinting of the space suited enemies in the distance. Dark returns. TAT! The cannon fire continues. RAT TAT TAT TAT

The gunfire from the enemy stops. WOLF (CONTD) Cease fire! Cease fire! All is quiet. THERMAL DISPLAY Heat signatures of the pooled blood and warm rifles are quickly turning cold, turning blue on the display. Both lay flat against the ground, no longer being used. CUT TO: EXT.
