SECTION 1

1- ALUMINIUM PARTICULAR SPECIFICATION


PART I
Scope of Work Engineering, fabrication, supply and installation and guarantee of aluminum glazed curtain wall with operable top hung windows as shown in detailed drawings, addition to all related ancillaries including glass and glazing, finishes of all curtain components, fire safety, sealant and caulking the in-plant and site quality control testing program as specified herein and required, including all doors, handrails, balconies handrails as shown on drawings. 1- Aluminum curtain wall system and all window ,doors shall be structurally glazed thermally insulated, fully ventilated and drained, pressure equalized aluminum curtain wall attached to [supporting frames] [floors] [walls] [beams] [trusses] constructed of [concrete] [steel] [timber]. Systems Performance Criteria Air Infiltration: Shall be no more than 0.02 cubic feet/ minute/ square at 6.24 pounds / square foot when tested in accordance with ASTM E283. Water Infiltration: No penetration when tested at rate of 5 gallons/ hour/ square foot and 30 pounds/ square foot pressure for 15 minutes when tested in accordance with ASTM E331. Uniform load deflection: In accordance with ASTM E330, a static air pressure difference of 30 pounds/ square foot applied in the positive and negative directions maximum deflection of L/175. Uniform load structural: In accordance with ASTM E330, a minimum static air pressure difference of 45 pounds/ square foot shall be applied in the positive and negative directions. Inter story movement / seismic tests: Tested in accordance with AAMA 501: 1- Resists air and water penetration at 19mm movement and 15 pounds per square foot pressure. 2- Resists air and water penetration at 36mm movement and 12.5 pounds per square foot pressure. 3- No glazing falls out tested at 54 mm movement.

Submittals - In accordance with "Submittals Procedures" provide: 1- Product data for aluminum framing system including connectors, anchors, fasteners, gaskets and other accessories. 2- Shop drawings, reinforcing, method of installation and sealing: - Submit shop drawings as specified - Each shop drawing shall bear seal and signature of the Professional Engineer - Show a) Elevations

b) Detailed design, dimensions, members, profiles, joint location and sizes, arrangement of units, horizontal to vertical connections, thickness, details of special shapes, drainage details and flow diagrams, baffles, flashings, insulation, anchorage system interfacing with building structure, connections and joints and seals to adjacent building envelope systems, provisions for thermally induced expansion and construction, provisions for absorption of building structure movements and creep and thermal break details. c) Locations of exposed fasteners and joints. d) Glazing details, methods, if done in field, in shop, locations of various types and thickness of glass. e) Panels, related reinforcements, sacrament methods, and method of installation. f) Sealant type and size and sealant joint... Quality Assurance - Manufacturer qualifications: Design, Engineering, fabrication, supply of all components for all aluminum framing system shall be sole responsibility of single manufacturer with 5 years minimum successful experience. Manufacturer shall have successfully completed a minimum of 5 glazed assemblies of scope, type, and size as proposed project.

- Gulf extrusion - Requests to use equivalent products from other manufacturers shall be approved by Engineers.

Materials

Gasket corners: One piece molded gasket corners for internally sealing and as glazing gasket for straight curtain wall designs. Molded gasket intersections: External sealing of cruciform joints in combination with glazing gaskets. Deflector block gasket: Silicone extrusion creating a ventilated channel above glazing deflector block. U-shaped joint seal: Silicone extrusion external seal [120mm] wide. - Glazing support: plastic supports for transferring load to profiles. Used in conjunction with glazing bridge. Standard: maximum weight [115 pounds per foot] [1.85 KN]. Fabrication
- Field verifies dimensions prior to fabrication components for aluminum framed glazed assembly. - Fabricate framing to designs indicated on drawings and to meet performance requirements - Mullion transom fabrication: Fabricate in accordance with manufacturers fabrication manual: Shall have "notched" and "overlapping" transoms creating up to three drainage levels. Glazing gaskets shall be in one plane, using molded one piece corners. Molded "cruciform" gasket shall be inserted into "isolator" profiles to seal intersections. - Provide for thermal expansion and contraction 3

- Thermal Break: Plastic "isolator" profile shall be inserted into mullion and transom profiles. Shall accommodate for shear forces. - Drainage and ventilation: Framing system shall be fully ventilated, drained and pressure equalized. Condensation shall be drained downward from higher transom levels to lower mullion levels to the exterior in a controlled manor via "drainage channels" and deflector blocks. Condensation shall be drained out beyond the [pressure plates] [at least every 8m] [26 feet] [8 glazing fields] and top and bottom of framing system via self-locating "deflector blocks" at intersections. System shall be fully ventilated to equalize air pressure through use of "deflector blocks" and openings in transoms, gaskets and pressure plates. - Vapor barrier: EPDM vapor barrier [s] shall be used to seal framing system to structure. Exterior: "High vapor permeability" vapor barrier fitted into glazing gasket rebate with PVC-U tube. Interior: "Low vapor permeability" vapor barrier fixed to interior face of profile - Glazing: Dry set factory glazing as specified as specified in section "Glazing).

Factory Applied Finishes


- Doors & Windows Provide all doors and windows as shown on drawing and requirements. The system is includes anchors, glass, glazing, insulation sealants, window, doors, and other components stainless steel, floor spring and door closers, handles, escutcheons, back plates, cylinder locks with (3 set keys), holder arm stay, latch, panic devices, hinges, stainless steel tubular handle, locking devices, anchorages and anchor bolts should be stainless steel.

PART 3

EXECUTIONS

Preparation - Coordination provision of framing system substructure framing ensures system compatibility and that provision is made for attachments and transfer of calculated loads. - Coordinate with provision of glazing specified in Section "Glazing". Ensure dimensions and tolerances are compatible. - Prior to starting installation, verify that wall openings are ready to receive framing. General Installation - Site assembles and erects aluminum framing in accordance with reviewed shop drawings and manufacturer's installation instructions. - Damaged glass: Do not install glass with edge damage or other imperfections - Make connections to allow for settling and other sub-structure movement to occur without stresses being transferred to aluminum framing systems. - Do not field cut or alter structural framing without written approval from manufacturer and architect. - Use anchorage devices to securely attach aluminum framing to substructure and to accommodate construction tolerances and irregularities. - Insulate dissimilar metals with bituminous paint or non-absorptive gasket to prevent corrosion. - Align framing plumb, level, and free of warp or twist. - Seal all framing perimeters with system specific EPDM vapor barriers. Glazing - A protect adjacent surfaces from sealants and glazing materials with masking tape or other means. - Install setting blocks and spacers as recommended by glass faade manufacturer and indicated on reviewed shop drawings. - Provide edge blocking as required to prevent sideway movement of glass in glazing channel. 4

- Ensure glazing pressure plates provide required bite on glass.

Cleaning - Remove excess sealant by moderate use of mineral spirits or other solvent acceptable to sealant manufacturer. - Exercise care in removing mortar, cementitious materials, and sand from glass and frames. Do not wipe surfaces in order to avoid scratching. - Wash exposed surfaces with solution of mild detergent applied with soft cloth. Take care to remove dirt from corners. Wipe surfaces clean.

- Warranties Submit written warranty in form acceptable to owner, jointly signed by Contractor and by sub-contractor for the work, warranting against defective materials, products, workmanship, water tightness, design, performance and glass breakage, due to defective engineering fabrication and installation and for 15 years period following date of substantial performance of the work. 15 years system warranty shall include but not necessarily be limited to: 1- Complete watertight and airtight work within specified tolerances. 2- Structural soundness and freedom and distortion, and within elastic deflection limits specified. 3- Glass or snap-on mullion covers will not break or 'pop' from frames due to design wind loads, expansion or contraction movements, or structural loading. 4- Metal finish will not crack, peel, pit corrodes or de-colors. 5- Sealants and gaskets shall remain free from deterioration, oxidation or dislocation due to sunlight and weather conditions. 6- Completed installation shall remain free from rattles, wind whistles, and noise due to thermal and structural movements and wind pressure. 7- Warrant the seals on insulated glass units for 15 years. Units shall be free from condensation, fogging, and obstruction of vision due to film on internal surfaces. 8- Warrant the painted coating will be free from peeling, cracking, pitting, corroding or non-uniformity pf color, or gloss deterioration as per approved paint manufacturer's for a period of 15 years. 9- Scratches, except those maximum 75mm in length and visible at a distance of maximum 3000mm. 10- Pin holes accept those up to 1.2mm size. Large clusters of pinholes, as assessed by the Consultant are not permitted.

2- GLAZING
General Glass and glazing shall be provided as specified and shown, including entrances, curtain wall, windows, spandrels, glazed doors, transoms, sidelights, Guarantee The Contractor shall submit to the Engineer a guarantee free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of Ten (10) years from the date of issuance of the completion certificate. The contractor shall agree to repair (including any replacement of materials) any damage resulting from defective materials or workmanship during the guarantee period at no additional cost to the Client.

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS


General Glazing systems that are product, fabricated, and installed shall be provided to withstand normal thermal movement, wind loading, and impact loading (where applicable), without failure including loss or glass breakage attributable to the following: defective manufacture, fabrication, and installation, failure of sealant or gaskets to remain watertight and airtight; deterioration of glazing materials, and other defects in construction. Submittals The Contractor shall submit the following: Product Data : Manufacturer's technical data for each glazing material and fabricated glass And indicate glass thicknesses : Samples of glass with gasket and sealant : Certificates from respective manufacturers

Samples Certificates

Quality Assurance Manufacturing process documentation shall be provided for flat glass, insulating glass compared with standard requirements for verification by the Engineer. Warranty The contractor shall submit warranties to repair or replace defective glass and glazing materials or workmanship for a period of 10 years after date of issue of the Substantial Completion Certificate or longer where specified. Defects include, but are not limited to the following Failure due to pressure, thermal stress, manufacturing defects and damage to glass and heat treated glass. Bearing on setting blocks Failure of insulating glass edge seal as shown by moisture, dust Insulating glass spacer Failure to meet specified performance requirements Failure to structural silicone seals Peeling and / or cracking Scratches and pin holes Change in color in different batches of production / supply.

The Contractor shall provide generally 25 years full warranty for glass in line with the system design life. Any visible variation in color as viewed by the naked eye shall be subject to rejection. The glass used in the approved mock-up shall be considered as standard for comparison in the event of any discrepancy relating to glass acceptability. The mock-up shall be considered as a control sample. The Engineering assessment and decision in all the above aspects of defects shall be final and binding and the Contractor shall carry out the replacement accordingly.

Insulating Glass Products Sealed Insulation Glass Units: Sealing System: Dual seal, primary sealant, polyisobutylene, secondary sealant, silicone Spacer Material: Manufacturers standard metal Desiccant: Manufacturer's Standard; either molecular sieve or silica gel or blend of both. Corner Construction: Manufacturer's bent and welded construction Frosted Glass Frosted glass shall be 100 percent stand blasted glass using 120 grit materials

Glazing Material Sealant: Elastomeric sealant which complies with ASTM C 920 requirements color as per approval. Setting Blocks: Neoprene, EPDM or silicone blocks 100mm minimum length by width to suit glass thickness Shims and Spacers: Shims and spacers used with setting blocks shall be the same material, hardness, length and width as the setting block Edge Blocks: Same material as setting blocks, size to limit lateral movement of glass. Glass Types Glass type shall generally confirm from sample selection in mock-up assembly at site. Insulated Reflective Glass Vision Panel: The performance characteristics of (24mm) insulated glazed unit for typical vision panel with reflective glass is based on: 1) [6mm] Pyrolitic coated glass, tempered, outer lite 2) [12mm] Airspace 3) [6mm] Clear inner lite, annealed The typical characteristics shall be: Light Transmittance Light Reflectance out Solar Energy Tran's Solar Energy Reflectance out Summer 'U' value Shading Coefficient Relative Heat Gain

Insulating Glass Insulating glass units shall be 24mm thick, consisting of two panes of 6mm glass separated by a desiccant filled metal spacer with bent, welded or fused corners, and welded or fused splices or joints to provide a continuous 12mm hermetically sealed and dehydrated space. Insulating glass seal shall be dual seal with polyisobutylene and silicone sealants shall meet the requirements of ASTM E774 when tested The glass shall be fully heat strengthened or tempered as specified to assure adequate glass performance at the design pressures specified under the performance criteria. Glass manufacturer's recommendations are to be accompanied by wind load and thermal stress analysis. Insulating glass units shall not indicate spectral distribution due to either positive or negative pressure exerted on the units once in place.

Contractor shall provide detailed shop drawings along with design calculation and samples for the approval of the Engineer. Any modifications indicated by the Engineer shall be incorporated and re-submitted and the process repeated until final approval is accorded. However any approval accorded by the Engineer shall not releave the Contractor of any of the contractual responsibilities and obligations.

- Glazing Schedule
Glass Type: GL-1 (For All curtain wall ,Widows & Main Door)

Double glazing (6mm clear Anneal led Glass Inside + 12mm Air space + 6mm Tempered glass coated on face No 2)- similar to Versalux Blue Medium Reflectance or equivalent as per engineer approval. For spandrel Glass, to be tempered coated on face No 2 single glass same as Versalux Green RC with steel sheet & sheet cover and fire proof rock wool as per civil defense requirements.

3- ALUBOND ALUMINUM COMPOSITE PANELS FACING


Aluminum composite panel consisting of Two Layers of Aluminum skin sandwiching thermoplastic core in a continuous co- extrusion process - Thickness = 4mm (0.5mm outer aluminum skin with PVDF coat+3mm core +0.5 mm inner aluminum skin polyester coat) Weight = 5.48 Kg/m2 - To Complied with Dubai Civil defense requirements (fire proof) - Fixed on supported aluminum channel as per Engineer approval

4- PARKING SHED
Sketch for the same shown on Drawings, the contractor shall submit full design, calculations & shop drawing for the Engineer & authority approval. Fiber Glass Fabric cover for above system to be submit for approval
